Transfer portal may have changed this a bit but is my old guy opinion that D-I guys go D-I. They don't miss much and if they do its usually the other way, signing a player who isn't as good as they thought.
With the exception of more schools being added to the recruting (WHICH IS STILL AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN ILLEGAL) accusation list. I predict it will make little difference, at least initially.
Exactly. Most private school dads have said to their kids, "If you're going to be lazy you can do that for free and the bus will pick you up and bring you home."
Remember the "Tournament of Champions" that our government forced on the IHSAA. My memory could be failing me but I remember an elected official saying "The republic is saved." when they passed something nobody wanted.
That was my point with asking how. Just about every school district has been affected by these cases. I don't remember schools being successfully sued.
It really happened. I know Warren Central was involved one. There was one that the "championship" lasted only a few plays. Team A scored in a few plays and kicked the PAT. Team B turned it over on the first play from scrimmage.
WCGrad beat me to it. Yes. It was all based on a point system. As I understand it some teams knew they couldn't make the playoffs based on their schedule even if they went undefeated. ( I could be wrong about that) For the 83 and 84 seasons they tried the appropriately named "Cluster" System.
