Here's what I was able to pull. Note: These are unofficial and reflect 4-grade enrollment. With regards to Hammond, I merged Clark & Hammond's enrollments, as well as Gavit & Morton's, as is the consolidation plan. The Evansville schools, for example, tend to get a bit of an enrollment bump. I have no idea what Park Tudor's enrollment is, but they're solidly 1A. Danville's result tomorrow will determine whether it is 3A or 4A for the next two years. By this math, that will likely affect Delta (which goes down to 3A if Danville wins).

UPDATE: I have made edits to reflect LCC being in 2A and Madison (not Madison-Grant) in 3A.

You always do a great job with this every reclassification.

Morton will be 6A and Hammond High will be in 5A.  Valpo will remain in 5A.  Looks like sectional 9 will be Hammond High, Munter, Valpo, Michigan City and LaPorte with two of the schools having a play in game to open the tournament.

I disagree with your analysis of the DAC. I think the DAC has to be considered trending up. Valpo has won 3 straight regionals, Merrillville 2 straight. Valpo overcame a lot of covid and injury adversity to get there. Merrillville took down a good Elkhart team despite throwing 3 INTs, the Pirates were cruising up 14-0 until the turnover party began. Chesterton beat Penn, admittedly in a down year, but you tell me the last time when the 3rd best team in the DAC beat Penn in the playoffs. The Trojans then took Elkhart down to the wire and nearly won that game. Coach Mason told me before the season that he thought Michigan City was “a year away”, but they still took Valpo down to the wire in the sectional and had a good win over Warsaw in the regular season. I think Coach Mason feels great about his team’s prospects for next year. LaPorte played Valpo tougher than anyone expected in the sectional and had a great win over Michigan City in the regular season. I think that program is trending up. Crown Point was hit the hardest by covid this year, but this program is only a couple years away from winning 3 straight 6A sectionals. They’ll recover. Portage hasn’t been good in over a decade and definitely wasn’t going to be good this season after the Radtke fiasco combined with covid. LC is admittedly trending in the wrong direction.

Lake Central is trending up.  Coach Bartolomeo has resigned.

  3. Valparaiso High School is the worst place for the teams season to come to an end, especially for the seniors.

Two Duneland conference connections in tonight's Monday Night Football game Patriots @ Jets.
-ESPN Monday Night football officiating analyst John Parry graduated from the former Michigan City Rogers High School in 1983.
-New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken graduated from Valparaiso High School in 2011.
Don't anybody ever say that dreams are impossible.

I don't like the headline of this thread.  I guess "suspends season" is technically correct, but I thought after reading the headline they were done for the year.

"Suspended for two weeks" is a lot less jarring to read.

As far as Chesterton - 48 hours prior to symptoms is the worrisome timeframe.  Depending on when the coach started showing symptoms, Friday night may not be in that window.

The statement from the MCHS athletic department was posted at midnight and clearly states, “Wolves Football Program Suspended”.

Here is a statement from coach Mason,

  6. 8.  There was an article that stated that Mason was considering leaving Andrean and taking the Lawrence Central job before getting hired at MC. Coach Mason seems really happy at MC.  He has been given the green light by the administration to run the program the way he sees fit.  He enjoys frequenting Zorn Brew Works for some cold craft beers.  He also gets to bring his dogs to school from time to time.

    9.  Mark Hoffman was the guest commentator with Paul Condry for last seasons semi-state game against Dwenger.  Hoffman stated that Bill Marshall was a gym teacher at one of the Valpo elementary schools where his wife Sue was also teaching and she recommended that Hoffy have Marshall join his staff at VHS.  That is how Marshall became the HC at Valpo, he was discovered by coach Hoffman’s wife Sue.

    11.  Chesterton had originally scheduled 8A Illinois St. Rita in week 2 but St. Rita cancelled and Pioneer had an open date so that is how the matchup happened.

East Chicago Central canceled all athletic events for the rest of the month. This includes the first two football games against Hanover Central and Bowman Academy. If they had the same schedule this year as last year it would have included four games against the schools located in Hammond. Those four schools are not playing football this season.

DT can officially add Clark and Gavit to his contraction list.
