Hobart won the sectional in 2016 as well. Looking forward to seeing the Plymouth - New Prairie. I believe Hobart also has former Valpo head coach Dave Coyle, former Valpo standout QB Jason Renn and former Hobart QB and longtime broadcaster Steve McIntyre on their staff.
A regional win for New Prairie will move Russ Radtke #2 all-time in career coaching wins.

They have a stadium. It is right across the alley from the childhood home of the Jackson 5.

Concord alumni Josh Gorball (Grand Valley State kicker) was named the GLIAC special teams player of the week.

If I recall correctly Tommy, wasn't that Castle team huge?
Castle linemen were like college men. Portage came into that game banged up after grueling regional and semi-stare wins over Lake Central and Fort Wayne Snider. Joe Christian played the last two games on one leg after being taken off the old Lake Central Burial Grounds on a stretcher and taken away by ambulance,

Portage has to be the most disappointing program in northern indiana, outside of Munster.
Everybody in The DAC seems to be improving. Why does Portage still suck?
Do they need to make another change at HC?
Can they lure Buzz back from HF?
H-F and Buzz was featured on ABC 7 Chicago’s 7 on your sideline tonight.

25 years ago. Attending a Portage football game back then was electric. Never going to happen again in my lifetime.

Another battle
Another battle of 1-7 teams will be Wawasee at Goshen. Both teams won their first game of the regular season before going on their 7 game slides. Should be a good game honestly.
It is going to be really exciting to see what Warsaw does in the tournament this year. 6A North is wide open. Looking forward to what is probably New Prairie - Plymouth in 4A.

Belmont ? - Hmmm
Fountain Central ? HmmmmHmmmmm Where's Brad Smith when you need him?
1-7 Portage hosts 1-7 La Porte on Friday night.

Betting on sports is not my thing, but what is the state and local government cut on such activity? It can't be insignificant.
It the first month Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City took in $3.8 million in wagers and paid the state $91,000 in wagering tax.

Hes won multiple semi state games
1984 and 1986 at Judson. 97 at griffith and 14 at new prairie.
He's 1-4 in state games (0-3 at Judson, 1-0 Griffith 0-1 at new prairie)
Id prob also say the 97 win against hobart is up there.
Only coach in the state to lead 3 different programs to the state finals.

It was a great game and a teriffic atmosphere. The place was packed for senior night at New Prairie High School. NP was something like 7 for 7 on fourth down conversions. Coach Radtke is just 5 wins away from becoming #2 all time in wins and he will get before the season is 74-18 (.804 winning percentage) at New Prairie and has established a culture of winning everywhere he has been.

What has happened to the once proud Shelbyville football program?
Numbers down significantly.
Uncompetitive on the field.
Apathetic fan base.
Broken feeder system
Poor administrative support?
All signs of pending contraction.
This is a big one.

Student body makeup is 12.5% hispanic according to the DOE website. I see the boys and girls basketball teams are not exactly lighting the world on fire either. Seems that the community has no interest in high school athletics and their seems to be a total lack of school spirit at Shelbyville.

How about both Merrillville and Valpo at LOS to rep 6A and 5A?
Will be the 1st time since 1985 two DAC teams played in the state finals. Valpo lost to Warren Central in 5A and Hobart lost to Brownsburg in 4A.

I don't thing Michigan City has them yet. We have a guy here named Warren Foster that has been doing chain gang duties along with his family for 55 years.

If you are going to consult with Condry, then you also talk with Chris Ramirez at The RSN and good old DT here on the GID. I have had several exchanges with coaches over the years, some inquiring about specific position openings.
The La Porte Community School Corporation would never be able to afford your consulting fee.

Still one more Hurt on the way, correct?
We all went to the IU - Ball State game last week, I am the white guy in the back corner making my presence known.
Last season Markice played at Notre Dame stadium, last week he played at Lucas Oil stadium. No other athlete from Michigan City, Indiana can claim that.

They asked a media member? Seriously?
That is how it was explained when I listened to the Region Kickoff show a few weeks ago.

La Porte had a search committee to replace Dave Sharpe. The position was first offered to Bob James who turned it down. Then the committee consulted with Paul Condry and asked him for a list of 5 coaches they should reach out to and Jeremy Lowery was at the top of the list.

Markice Hurt Jr. and Marquan Hurt are brothers. They are also Aryuan “Buck” Cain-Veasey’s cousin who absolutely lit it up Saturday in his game for Grand Valley State University on Saturday rushing for 200 yards on 11 carries and scored 3 touchdowns including the 3rd longest run in school history from 94 yards. He was named the Great Lakes Intercolligiate Conference (GLIAC) player of the week.

Article in The Times about the potential relocation of the Andrean High School campus to I-65 and US 231 in Crown Point.

The Times had a great feature story about coach Radtke few years back. They went back to his family farm where he grew up in North Judson. I guess Radtke still owns a collection of antique and vintage farm tractors.

I am really looking forward to Friday nights game. A New Prairie win will indeed move coach Russ Radke to #2 in all time coaching wins ahead of Jerry Brewer as at the conclusion of the sectional championship win over Plymouth the New Prairie PA announcer stated that he was tied at #2.
I'm stopping off at Lincoln's Carry Out for a couple of sandwiches before the game.
