4A Michiana Regional: New Prairie vs. Northwood

When Valpo won the 5A state championship last year I noticed there were a lot of familiar Portage names on Valpo's roster.

JoJo was my neighbor boy growing up as a grade schooler in Michigan City before his family moved to Indianapolis and subsequently moved to Napanee. NorthWood is going to have an awesome season this year and canβt wait to see some of their games. Looking forward to see him play on Saturdays on TV in the future. It is going to be a fun football season for me watching JoJo, Syracuse recruit Jaden Hart at Michigan City Florida State graduate transfer Braden Fiske. Also recent Georgia graduate and Philadelphia Eagles rookie Kelee Ringo has a lot of strong family ties in Michigan City.

Buck has declined the Michigan City head football coaching position. AD Shaman tell me that after and extensive search and several school board brew ha ha's at the Administration building on Carrol Ave. Michigan City will make an inside hire in August and will be here 2 years max. -
Just talked to MC AD Craig Shaman and athletic secretary Deanna Strlinski at the La Porte Michigan City girls - boys double header heritage night game. They have confirmed to me that Roy Richards will become the new Portage Indiana head coach. Just congratulated Roy. He said Portage will be his last stop then him and Vera will retire in 5 years.

He was hired, stated to the region sports network "We are in it for the long haul." and left days later. What a bunch of BS that was.

This will be head coach number 8 for Portage since 2006 and had to cycle though a new regime every 2 years. 1. Craig Buzea 2. Mark Peterson 3. Jeromey Flowers 4. Wally McCormack 5. Darren Rodriguez 6. Russ Radtke 7. Terry Chestovich 8. ????? New staff every classification.

Mason Resigns at Michigan City
Tommy replied to Tommy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That is right and donβt believe anything else your hear or read, Coach Mason left Michigan City so he can hand the program over to Buck because Buck and coach Mason love each other to all ends of the earth and has told myself and the members of the media on several occasions that Buck is the greatest running back that he has ever coach and ever will coach. Buck is going to be enshrined into the Michigan City football Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 2027 because they are making him wait 10 years after he graduates where he will joint the likes of Abe Gibron, Tom Nowatske, Tony Cline, Andy Gill, Donnie Thomas, Dave Parry, John Parry, Dick Tomey, Vic Overman, Ron Lemon and Warren Foster. We are also going to establish a momβs division of the Michigan City Hall of Fame and Alpha momβs Nikki, Marquita, Rae Londa and Lisa will be the inaugural members and the donβt have to wait because all the momβs have all been graduated from high school much longer than 10 years ago. -
When Mason was hired in 2015 AD Craig Shaman told the Jim Peters at the La Porte county herald dispatch that there were 40 applicants for the position. Every time MC is searching for a new coach they have been very transparent through the entire process.
