  1. If both Valpo and Merrillville are both in 5A that would give Chesterton a great opportunity to finally win their first ever sectional title in football.
  2. You always do a great job with this every reclassification. Morton will be 6A and Hammond High will be in 5A. Valpo will remain in 5A. Looks like sectional 9 will be Hammond High, Munter, Valpo, Michigan City and LaPorte with two of the schools having a play in game to open the tournament.
  3. Hobart is getting skunked 35-0. Why aren’t the officials calling for the running clock?
  4. Back to back semi-state wins for Valpo would guarantee an automatic bump up to class 6A for 2021-2022 under the IHSAA success factor rule.
  5. Valparaiso High School is the worst place for the teams season to come to an end, especially for the seniors. Two Duneland conference connections in tonight's Monday Night Football game Patriots @ Jets. -ESPN Monday Night football officiating analyst John Parry graduated from the former Michigan City Rogers High School in 1983. -New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken graduated from Valparaiso High School in 2011. Don't anybody ever say that dreams are impossible.
  6. If Merrillville was able to travel to Indy and play Chatard then I don't see any reason why Michigan City could not travel down and play Warren Central. Maybe in was because City only got to play 2 home games this season with limited fans and is unable to make the trip due to lack of gate revenue.
  7. Just heard Paul Condry say that Michigan City might travel down to Indianapolis to play Warren Central next week. I guess both teams have an open date. That will be off the chain.
  8. Just heard Paul Condry say that it might be Michigan City @ Warren Central next week. That will be off the chain.
  9. We had that. We had to wait for his youngest son (who had no talent) to graduate for him to finally step down.
  10. 9-14 Practice Attendance Required to Participate in a Contest A student-athlete must attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled Practice sessions to be eligible for interschool athletic competition. If a student fails to attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled Practice sessions, such student shall be required to complete the following prior to participating in a Contest: a. attend and actively participate in all required Pre-participation Practice sessions, see rules 50 and 101; b. attendance and active participation in Four (4) school-supervised Practice sessions of normal length, which shall occur on Four (4) separate days prior to the day of the Contest, if the student fails to attend and actively participate in more than Four (4) but less than Eleven (11) consecutive days of regularly scheduled Practice; c. attendance and active participation in Six (6) school supervised Practice sessions of normal length, which shall occur on Six (6) separate days prior to the day of the Contest, if the student fails to attend and actively participate in more than Ten (10) consecutive days of regularly scheduled Practice. INTERPRETATION: Days Missed No. of Practices Required 5 to 10 4 More than 10 consecutive 6
  11. Per IHSAA bylaws the home game against Lake Central also has to be cancelled. If a player misses 10 consecutive days of practice they are required to have 6 practices prior to their next contest.
  12. The statement from the MCHS athletic department was posted at midnight and clearly states, “Wolves Football Program Suspended”. Here is a statement from coach Mason,
  13. 8. There was an article that stated that Mason was considering leaving Andrean and taking the Lawrence Central job before getting hired at MC. Coach Mason seems really happy at MC. He has been given the green light by the administration to run the program the way he sees fit. He enjoys frequenting Zorn Brew Works for some cold craft beers. He also gets to bring his dogs to school from time to time. 9. Mark Hoffman was the guest commentator with Paul Condry for last seasons semi-state game against Dwenger. Hoffman stated that Bill Marshall was a gym teacher at one of the Valpo elementary schools where his wife Sue was also teaching and she recommended that Hoffy have Marshall join his staff at VHS. That is how Marshall became the HC at Valpo, he was discovered by coach Hoffman’s wife Sue. 11. Chesterton had originally scheduled 8A Illinois St. Rita in week 2 but St. Rita cancelled and Pioneer had an open date so that is how the matchup happened.
  14. This was posted on the Michigan City High School Facebook page late tonight:
  15. Congrats on the 20-16 win Pioneer. Chesterton is what DT would describe as a country club sport school. Don't schedule the Trojans in soccer, golf or swimming.
  16. Just went out to pick up a copy of The Times, Post-Tribune, La Porte County Herald-Dispatch and South Bend Tribune. None of them no longer have their high school football preview supplement as they have had over the past decades. Very sad and disappointing sign of the times.
  17. I'd go with Pioneer. Chesterton best boy fall athletes are on the soccer team. Football kind of takes a back seat. Trojans have never won a sectional title in football in school history.
  18. I put the ad blocker on my tablet and the ads disappeared.
  19. I didn’t know that this was one these types of websites. TA is probably rolling over.
  20. DT can officially add Clark and Gavit to his contraction list.
  21. Is there any rule that a pair of current college student athletes that I know that have recently had their football season cancelled and have returned home looking for work become a high school sports official without effecting their NCAA eligibility?
