  1. Since taking over at New Prairie, Russ Radtke has compiled a 70-18 record (.795 winning) percentage and is only 8 wins away of becoming the #2 winningest coach in state history. I saw an interview a couple years ago with Bud Wright and he was asked that over the last 50 years hasn’t times and kids changed and he responded of course they have but you have to be able to adapt to those changes and that also applies to Russ Radtke. Honorable mention goes to Craig Buzea from Homewood-Floosmoor on getting his first career win over Penn. Buzea went 0-5 against the Kingsmen during his tenure at Portage and those games were classics.
  2. It was only a matter of time. Brian Urlacher will be on hand at Blue Chip here in Michigan City for the ribbon cutting and place the first bet at the new Fan Duel Sports Book. Bears are +3 point favorites with an Under/Over of 46.5 against the Packers tonight. With a +140 straight bet payout for the Packers and a - 160 for the Bears.
  3. Army and Washington State according to Rivals.com. Opened the scoring with a FG from 46 after MC was intercepted on the first play from scrimmage and booted the game winner from 51. All his KOs five yards out of the back of the EZ each time making MC go 80 yards all the return man could do is stand at the goal line and watch the ball sail over his head.
  4. Check out Warsaw High School senior kicker Harrison Mevis. #2 ranked high school kicker in he nation. This kid will be playing on Sunday’s in about 5 years.
  5. Warsaw is going to have a great year in the NLC. Bart Curtis has really turned things around for the Tigers.
  6. Warsaw's kicker Harrison Mevis was amazing tonight. Booted FG's from 46 and the game winner from 51 and put all his kickoffs 5 yards out of the back of the EZ every time. Definitly a D1 caliber talent. Great game for both teams.
  7. Last 2 seasons MC got their sectional championship wins over La Porte. This season it will even get better as the Wolves have the potential of getting sectional wins over La Porte and Valpo. That would be sweet.
  8. Michigan City was up on Griffith 41-0 the end of the first quarter. Both coaches agreed to start a running clock. Last year of the contract between City and Griffith. I would like to add the Michigan City Wolves Wolfpack marching band performed a stunning halftime rendition of one of the greatest compositions of American music of all time. Rhapsody In Blue by George Gershwin.
  9. After a two year hiatus from the sideline former Andrean and Lake Central 2004 3A state champion head coach Brett St. Germain will join coach Phil Mason's staff at Michigan City. He has also taken an assistant principal position at the school. Very impressed how coach Mason has been able to hand pick and attract several successful former head coaches and athletic directors from other such as St. Germain, Roy Richards, Ken Bye and John Maurek to Michigan City and also the school administration for hiring them. https://www.thenewsdispatch.com/sports/article_51f1e435-8e9e-511f-8496-604a7baeff95.html
  10. http://laportecounty.life/article/michigan-city-high-school-football-players-rush-for-yards-outside-the-field/?fbclid=IwAR2C3eqU4QpN50pikMjLgkC4Q5AsFmy2is65iW3Rbfy3ibRPCkwq039texs Awesome project being done by coach Phil Mason, his staff and the players and parents at Michigan City High School.
  11. Should be interesting what 6A north will be in the coming years once the Hammond schools ever consolidate.
  12. Easton grad Mike Hackett did not apply for the recently filled Michigan City High School boys basketball head coach position because I was told he makes 6 figures at Munster and did not want to take a pay cut.
  13. According the Jim Peters from the Michigan City News Dispatch Twitter page. Former Portage and LaPorte head the MCAS coach Tom Wells is expected to be named the new Michigan City Wolves varsity boys basketball coach. Another great hire by the Michigan City Area Schools.
  14. Michigan City has been doing this since coach Mason and coach Richards took over, It is a great event. I always like going and just visiting, chatting and hanging out with the parents and family members of the players.
  15. Since Lake Central reconstructed their facility 5 years ago all 8 member schools of the Duneland Conference has made the tradition from natural grass to artificial surface.
  16. Pop Warner has a 28 point mercy rule. Coaches would miss the conversions on purpose so they can keep playing another series. Often it would be achieved at the end of the 1st quarter and several times the patsy would concede at halftime. The winning team cannot pass, run outside the box or advance a turnover either,
  17. Nice to see there are only 36 opening and a few of those are because coach either retired like Jeff Cain from Whiting and in one case coach passed away. Usually at this time there are a lot more. The closing of the IPS schools is a factor because those are the ones would typically have a new coach every year.
  18. The Michigan City Wolves head varsity coach position is now posted on the school system website. Deadline to apply is Wednesday. Job description also should mention that the new coach needs to do what is ever necessary to give the team the best chance of winning championships in the Duneland conference and the IHSAA tournament. https://employment.mcas.k12.in.us/postdesc.asp?POSTING=653&fbclid=IwAR370dR5VF912ZWoAomsWEeCypu_qPOsFg5OJhxaB68fkJMXDFEyWzX93jA
  19. When are the sectional assignments for all 6 classes going to be announced?
  20. After winning no sectional or Duneland Conference in 10 seasons , compiling back to back 10 win seasons and the team scoring only 28 points in his last sectional game against Chesterton, Coach John Boyd has resigned as the Michigan City Wolves.
  21. Somebody asked me who is the girl in the IHSAA “come see me play” PSA? She is the one working out in the weight room. What school is she from?
  22. John Harrell’s Twitter page reported that the state finals attendance was 22,476, an all time low for the class era and possibly the lowest in 100 years. Don’t know what the highest attendance was but take that number and subtract that from this this weekends attendance and multiply that times $15 a ticket PER SESSION and that is the net loss for the IHSAA from it’s peak year. Maybe the start of boys basketball season needs to be moved back a week like the girls so the state final games do not conflict with the NCAA men’s and women’s tournament games.
  23. No players from New Palestine. Very happy that Michigan City has had a north All-Star for 3 years in a row.
