Any chance New Prairie goes to the Duneland?

They are currently in the NIC North....with Mishawaka leaving and the rumor mill spinning about a Penn independence, the NIC could turn into a "last one out turn out the lights" conference. NP geographically makes the an outlier in every conference but still a possibility in a number of conferences.

Since they obviously won't be contracted, NP could fit in the DAC as they are in the proper time zone.  But would the old guard let them in?  My Spidey Senses tell me no.

At home (WW) the ONLY choice is the ribeye sandwiches from our concessions. Often imitated, never equaled. All other restaurants are 15+ minutes away and can not compete with our sandwiches.

When traveling to Paoli or Springs Valley I stop in Paoli at Porkys BBQ before the game. Springs Valley also requires a stop at West Baden Hotel for a hand dipped ice cream cone. Mitchell is a good excuse to go to Spring Mill Inn for the buffet. Perry Central I have to stop at Schwartz’s Amish Restaurant. Man I’m hungry, when does football start?

Gasthof!!!I  Sure that's in Montgomery, but the Reevers (Barr-Reeve HS) don't have a football team....

Before the Rebels get contracted, be sure to stop by the Colonial Inn in Kentland--incredible.

I can't see any appetite from any of the DAC schools to add Penn to the conference.  The DAC likes being the big school conference for the "region" and adding a school from St. Joe county, let alone one that would be the big dog as soon as they got in, isn't going to be supported by any of the schools.  Also, going to a 10 team league would screw up lots of traditional rivalries that these schools like to maintain.  I don't see the DAC being interested in adding a private school like Andrean either.  There really isn't a whole lot for the DAC to gain by adding anyone.

    just as I had contended...

IMO, that is not a very attractive solution.

    I agree.

    Twin Lakes will travel:

97 miles to Hammond Clark  1.7 hours

91 miles to Hammond High School  1.6 hours

80 miles to River Forest High School 1.5 hours

75 miles to Hanover Central 1.5 hours

    86 miles to Calumet 1.5

    46 miles to Knox 1hour

48 miles to Benton Central 50 minutes

Plus ALL but BC are on Central Standard time.  The GREAT thing is that we are in the tourney, playing schools we seldom see, and it is a great opportunity for the kids.  Don't worry about travel or other things.  Let the kids enjoy the moment and opportunity.  That is what is important.  Enough said.

I like your attitude!  We need more positive vibes like yours around here...

At least this method provides very simple, logical explanations using Math, Science, and Geography for why some teams have to be placed in one place or another.

Conference affiliation, traditional rivalries, and who is friends with who should not be factors.  There does not need to be a committee that assigns sectionals.  We are waiting to see what the people are going to do about an issue that can be determined without human bias and illogical reasoning.  Place the grid over the state and assign sectionals accordingly.

Simple geography makes this a moot point.  If you look at the map that I posted earlier of the projected verses actual sectionals, you can see the flaws.  Math is the other thing on the side of my approach.  In the actual sectional assignments released for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, the average mileage and travel times (for the two schools in each group that are the farthest apart) are 102 miles and 1 hour 51 minutes respectively.  This is compared to the projected sectional alignment where the distance and time between the two schools with the greatest distance between them being, 96 miles and 1 hour 45 minutes respectively.

The number of schools vs. the number of classes creates a problem for the IHSAA that I do not envy.  However, this discussion would not be at all necessary if they simply geographically places schools in their sectional.  my biggest issue looking at these maps is the size of the boxes on the Actual side as apposed the the projected side.  Six miles and six minutes worth of travel time seems silly to argue, however in the 2019 case there are far more schools with potentially longer than necessary trips in the sectional than 3A has seen in the past.

Yes, they did a good job.  I know it's unfortunate for certain teams, though.
