Well, to be fair, they have been knocked out by Mater Dei the last 4 years and I believe they are in a different sectional  this year. The S40/S39 Regional game will be a must watch

Yes. Winners win & MD did just that at Linton last year. Guessing however, even MD fans would tell you they were fortunate to leave town with a victory. That was a 50/50 game and a couple self inflicted mistakes/missed opportunities by the Miners was the difference.

As is nearly every season, until someone beats them MD tops the list of candidates from the south.

Linton - lost some really good players. Eslinger (RB/LB) was a stud. Several other holes to fill. But we return some dynamic talent including possibly the best player in 2A south, Hunter Gennicks.  Logan Webb is a tall, strong, athletic WR who should be a difference maker. Multiple all-state type players on the lines. By seasons end, the Miners will be a major threat in 2A.  Just hope our anemic schedule this season doesn't come back to bite us.

Can't give you as much detail on Sullivan, but from everything I've heard they'll be one of the better southern 2A teams.  This summer I ran into Sullivan's HC from the past several seasons (now HC for St Mary of the Wood's new program). He told me the Arrows are loaded this season.

I would love to see Linton get in the WIC again. Its a multi class conference with some good teams. Independent is great however the reduced travel time is also great. Linton is just a 2A school and that would probably wreck their plans as the Miners would run through it as a lowly 2A school. Just a thought.

You have to layoff the sauce.  Have you seen our schedule? What's great about it? We're traveling all over Southern Indiana to play the weakest schedule we've had in years. Five 1A teams, two 2A, one 3A, and one 4A.  Oh, and our five road games average 125 miles round trip.  No clue why we're traveling 430 miles to play four 1A teams on the road (other road game is at Boonville).

The Clown would like to welcome the Raiders to a week fun of games and debating!

Don't know much about the Raiders this year, but know when Hanner was there he loved good videos and beer!

Hanner & Flip-Flops FOREVER - Coaching Shoes NEVER!!!

Others can give you more insight than I, but the one thing that stands out to me is fast, fast, fast.  Not a big team, but very lean. Great conditioning. Above average speed everwhere, fly to the ball, light but quick up front on both sides.

For a small, rural school (being politically correct here) they're pretty unique in the speed/quickness department.

  4. This one has me interested. Should be an absolute dandy! #4 vs #7 squaring off at an iconic venue to decide who is 2020's best 3A team south of Indy. Two tradition rich programs, with nearly identical records and sagarin numbers across the board.

I have a soft spot for SR, so I'll take them by 7 but feel this is a true toss-up game!

    Hope it's live streamed?!!?

  5. NK was superb last night.  Like other's have said, they were clearly the better team. Congratulations!

Not Linton's best night. Certainly weren't as sharp as the Warriors.  Even had we been as tuned as NK, I'm convinced it wouldn't have made a difference.  Likewise, should these two meet in a few weeks, expect a better game from the Miners.

P.S. Any Linton football fan "embarrassed" by the performance of the 15-18 year olds they proclaim to support are the ones who should be embarrassed. Miner fans have been spoiled with an abundance of riches over the last several years.  Surely, as adults you can handle a questionable performance or two by these young men without being embarrassed???

Go back and look at my original post.  I did say I used this week's ratings and the ratings will change from week to week depending on the opponent.   No need to argue that a team SHOULD BE higher.  If you think it's wrong, take up the argument with Sagarin.  It's his numbers that I used.  Andrean at 171 didn't make the list this time.  They probably will in the future.  Linton sits at #130 this week but have all lower ranked teams left on their schedule.  They will more than likely drop off this list after another game or two.  Like I said, it changes weekly.  And I DID say, "I was bored".

I read your post.  Now go back and read mine.  Nothing I said was negative about your post, nor sagarin.  In fact I didn't even mention your post. I also didn't say their current SOS was wrong. Honestly, I have no clue wtf you're so butt hurt about...you're a little sensitive for me hoss.

Put Goodman back at quarterback! Just because your dad is the offensive coordinator, your grandpa is defensive coordinator, and your uncle the head coach, doesn’t make you a great quarterback. Gennicks is to short to pass effectively.

This didn't age well. At all.

    Stay Classy....

I think Linton would be much better prepared for this game with Mater Dei if they had played the mighty Parke Heritage Wolfs. Sometimes you can gain from losing in a regular season game if it better prepares you for the playoffs. There would be no shame in the Miners losing to the Wolfs.

We aren't playing those bums until they upgrade their endzone cameras.

After the Cass-WL game it wasn’t a big shocker to me. Pioneer would be a top 1A team but lost a lot from last year. And Cass is obviously very good and have improved weekly.

Cass has some biggins up front.  Their backs are athletic & extremely physical.  They refused to be tackled vs Pioneer.  Pneumatic sledgehammers

Whichever Victor comes outta this. I see a Lewis-Cass matchup

That's ballsy.  I see no reason why WeBo isn't the south favorite.  Defending champs.  I haven't checked Calpreps, Sagarin has them #1 in the south...on a neutral field they would be favored by 2 points over L-S & 4 over MD.

Personally, I believe Triton Central will be a tough out as well

Does anyone agree EMD will be the toughest defense Linton has seen?  Assuming Linton makes it through the 1st round.

Yes. It's not even close.  They've held everyone below their average, held many to their season low, and allowed >14 only once.

Mater Dei is 2nd in the SIAC conference in points allowed and 1st in points scored.  That includes games against 4A's #6 & #7 teams. Per Sagarin, MD's played 5 teams ranked 125 or better; 3 of those in the top 80.  They finish the regular season vs Reitz (#129).
