Yes, you ARE hurt by only playing a full conference schedule.  At least by Sagarin.  HCC was that way for years and couldn't prove anything until tournament time.  The SAC has 4 quality teams and 6 bottom feeders.  Unfortunately everyone plays everyone, so the bottom feeders are going to hold down your strength of schedule.  Nobody believes that any of the top four in the SAC couldn't beat Noblesville or Pike, the two last place teams in the other leagues, but their rating is boosted because of oppositions SOS.

Come sectional time someone is going to get the chance to beat up on Noblesville and then the sectional winner will get either Carmel or one of 3 HCC teams in the regional.  You'll have to wait until then to prove your point.

I personally don't think you can put the entire league on par with the other two, but the top 4....... certainly!

Again I repeat which one of the schools that blew by them in the rankings played a team out of conference?

Whew! I don't owe somebody a million bucks! (And I was right all along)

Did the IHSAA let this drag on too long? Yes.

But as far as I can tell, the Luers 2a vs 3A controversy started when the Luers Head Coach popped off to some local sportsnews website. So maybe he will learn a valuable lesson not to spread rumors.

Luers head coach was contacted by a local sportsnews website and truthfully responding to him that's not popping off.

I will bet you ONE MILLION DOLLARS that Blitz's tweet from the Luers coach are wrong. The 2-Point Minimum Success Factor rule ONLY applies to programs that are CURRENTLY BUMPED UP TO A HIGHER CLASS AFTER EARNING 6+ POINTS IN THE PREVIOUS CYCLE.

Luers won the 2A State title in 2011 & 2012. That bumped them up to 3A for the 2013-14 cycle. They earned only 2 Points in 13-14 & would have fallen back into 2A except their enrollment had jumped up into the 3A level. So they stayed in 3A due to enrollment for 2015-16 (0 points) & 2017-18 (3 points). For the 2019-20 cycle, they will be in 2A due to enrollment.

Even though Luers earned 3 points in the previous cycle, they can & will drop to 2A because they were in 3A due to enrollment, not due to the Success Factor.

I repeat-- For the 2019-20 cycle, FW Luers will be in 2A due to enrollment.

    BOOM BABY!!

    That's absolutely not true.

If you read the entire thread, you will see that I posted this on June 2nd:

I have only looked at these sports-- Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, Softball. So if anyone has looked at the other sports (Volleyball, etc), please chime in.

As mentioned, two bumped-up Football programs earned 2 Points in the current 2-year cycle but the IHSAA has bumped them DOWN-- FW Snider from 6A to 5A, Cathedral from 5A to 4A.

In Boys Basketball, Marquette earned 2 Points (2 Sectional titles) in the current cycle-- the IHSAA is keeping them UP in 2A.

In Girls Basketball, no bumped-up programs earned 2 Points.

In Baseball, Lafayette Central Catholic earned 2 Points (2018 Regional title, lost in 2019 Sectional) in the current cycle-- the IHSAA will be keeping them UP in 2A.

In Softball, Gibson Southern earned 2 Points (lost in 2018 Sectional, 2019 Regional title) in the current cycle-- the IHSAA will be keeping them UP in 4A.

To my knowledge, there are no other bumped-up Spring sports programs which will be impacted by the recent change from 3 Minimum Points to 2 Minimum Points.

The whole purpose of the thread was to ask why the rule change was being implemented for the WINTER & SPRING SPORTS but NOT the FALL SPORTS.  Fortunately, the IHSAA (eventually) recognized the fact that, if the rule change was going to be implemented with the cycle ending in 2018-2019, then they needed to apply it to all sports.

Luers won a 3a regional last year and a sectional championship the year before but fall back to 2a due to enrollment. Was this because Luers moved up to 3a because of enrollment not success factor?

It will NEVER happen. The number of schools in Indiana allow for all-in tournaments in EVERY sport. That's the way the IHSAA & most member schools like it.

High school sports are for the student athletes. They work very hard & deserve an opportunity in these tournaments.

If it was only winning records make the tournament, you would see many schools trying to schedule easy wins to start the season. Then it really would turn into a cluster fudge.

In 2009 Luers was 4-5 during the regular and ended up winning state. Keeping the best team in their class out of post season because of a losing record would be incredibly stupid.
