Wasn't the same as what ? Not saying he wasn't 100% but what are you comparing his performance to? Has NP seen a defense as good as Penn's this year? NP has played 3 teams this year  that have 1-7 records , 1 team that is 3-5 and 2 teams that are 4-4 . I know that Penn players don't look the same when they play Indianapolis Cathedral as they did when playing South Bend Adams is my point .

I give all the credit to the Penn D. Talking to him before the game you could see how pale he was, and not up to his normal self. Penn’s D is certainly elite but think the offense could hold them back come tournament time

Not going to go through the record books but Penn's defense just probably gave NP the worst statistical night in school history. 27 total yards.

Penn wins 22-0. NP defense did their job; they did a heck of a job only giving up 15 points when Penn was in their territory ALL GAME LONG. Don't think NP offense ever got near the 50 yard line and even gave up a TD on a botched snap. One of the worst offensive games you can imagine.

Hell of a performance by Penn’s D. After talking to a few people and his Parents I don’t think Kmiecik should have been playing tonight. He was very sick all week and in the hospital hooked up to IV’s. Gotta give credit to the young man for playing but you could tell he wasn’t the same.

  3. Riley over Bremen- wildcats run defense is legit, QB a little inaccurate but good enough to take care of business.

St Joe over CMA- don’t know much about CMA but the Indians are a decent football team.

Elkhart over Marian- think the lions win this one fairly easy.

Jimtown over Adams- the Jimmies JV will probably get plenty of reps in the 2nd half.

Penn over NP- the Cougars would have to play flawless to have a chance. Penn D shuts em down in a low scoring game.

TV over Glenn- I’ve heard a lot of people high on TV this year and think they’re to much for Glenn to handle.

I find it interesting some of the comments.  A coach comes in and if I recall won 1 game in 3 years.  Is he a good fit for Riley?  So far sounds it plus a coupe of kids who came in with their dad, a coach, helped.  The NP line may not be their biggest but the strength in their upper body and arms I took notice when we played them.  The have to be discipline enough to stop the NP QB but there are other weapons there.  So you cannot focus on one but it is the main one.  I have only read about RIley.  So have to say it does sound like the best SB team since the WHS team that made it to state,  This game will be a good indication until Riley gets to the sectional round. (Northridge, Northwood, Logansport, Plymouth, St. Joe, Washington, and Wawasee).  But the game will be played on a nice night for football and see how it all plays out.

Definitely one of the smallest lines NP has had in a long time. The strength coach does an excellent job at the school not only with the football team but all sports. The line does a great job of pulling, trapping and getting to their assignments.

I think the only way Riley has a chance in this game is if they come out and do what St Joe did to the cougars with the short to mid range passes. I’m probably in the minority here but I look for the cougars to win this game fairly comfortably.

  5. TV over Jimtown- I’ve heard some good things about Valley this year and think they’ll be way to much for the Jimmies.

Glenn over Bremen- Barron seems to have this group heading in the right direction.

NP over Adams- should be a relatively easy game for the cougars who’ve yet to play their best ball.

Penn over Marian- not much to say. Penn By whatever they choose.

Elkhart over St Joe- the Indians are much improved over the last few years but I think the Lions squeak this one out.

Riley over Washington- I think the best thing the wildcats can do is rest the starters as much as possible to come in next week healthy against NP

  6. Bremen vs Triton- don’t know much about either team but I’ll take the lions by 6

Elkhart vs Massillon Washington-  I haven’t been impressed with the lions the past couple of years.

Penn vs Morton- the kingsmen bounce back and win by 28+

Glenn vs Jimtown- Jimmies take care of business by 17

Marian vs New Prairie- the Cougars will continue to improve each week and should have no problems in this one. Np by 21

Riley vs Clay- Riley’s JV should get some good field time. 35+

St Joe vs Adams- I haven’t heard much about the Indians yet but they seem to be improving over the last few years. St Joe by 14

    Washington vs Calumet- by 35+

Brebeuf Jesuit at Marian, 7:30 pm Jesuit by 3+ tds
Morton at Elkhart, 7:30 pm the lions get in the win column in a hard fought game
Glenn at Angola, 7:30 pm Angola takes down Glenn
Lowell at New Prairie, 8 pm NP is getting 2 players back this week, top offensive lineman and a defensive end. The cougars will put it all together this and take care of business
Osceola Grace at Jimtown, 7 pm Jimmies by whatever they choose
Penn at Cathedral, 7 pm Cathedral in a close one
Clay at Chicago Christian (Ill.), 7:30 pm ?? Probably not Clay
Riley at Adams, 7 pm Riley big. Wildcats are trying to prove they are one of the best in the conference
Washington at St. Joseph, 7 pm Indians put an arrow in the panthers
South Central at Bremen, 7:30 pm Lions by a lot

Penn's biggest test of the year this week when they travel to Cathedral.  Win thins and the Kingsmen could be headed to 9-0 season.

Will Elkhart right the ship against Morton?

Glenn looks to recover from bring shut out by Riley

NP - not sure what to think of them at this point.

Jimtown - had 2 tough matches to being the year, know nothing about Grace

Clay goes to Chicagoland...could they bring home that coveted victory?

Riley and Adams in a neighborhood brawl.  Riley to look to go to 3-0

Washington and St. Joe get together after not playing for awhile.  Used to be a very heated rivalry years ago.  SJ is a young team with only 13 seniors out of 63.  The youngsters playing look like they could develop.  See how they do again WHS. Will their QB be back?

Bremen looks to continue their winning ways against South Central.

  8. BG vs Clay- Colonials woes continue.

Bremen vs Washington- something tells me the panthers squeak this one out.

CMA vs Marian- I have a feeling the Knights right the ship this week and come away with a W.

Elkhart vs Northridge- the lions have a ton of work to do to be considered a 6a power like a lot of people are saying. Raiders win this one easy.

Jimtown vs Concord- I can see this one going either way. I’ll take the Jimmies in a close one.

Riley vs Glenn- Riley airs it out and takes care of the falcons.

Mishawaka vs Penn- Glad to see this game back on the schedule. Kingsmen   Take care of business rather easily.

St Joe vs South side- Maybe the Indians?

NP vs Goshen- I think last week was a big eye opener for the Cougars. NP needs to stick with what they do best and run the ball. The combination of Kmiecik and Sinka has the potential to be lethal if they choose to utilize it. The passing game is there but Kmiecik needs to go through his progressions and not always go for the home run. That said cougars take care of business.

Cycle started over this year:   (not going to do 1 point sectional champ)

    6a, doesn't matter

    5a:  Valpo earned 4, Whiteland 3, Castle 2, Snider 2,

    4a:  East Central 4, NP 3, Kokomo  2, Roncalli 2,

    3a:  Chatard 4, Lawrenceburg 3, WL 2 Monrovia 2

    2a:   Mater Dei 4, Andrean 3, Linton 2, Luers 2,

    1a:   Lutheran 4, AC 3, Judson 2,

without looking on Harrell's I think that is it

So yes, Andrean and Mater Dei could conceivably be in 3 straight 2a state games

Lutheran COULD win 3 straight titles before moving up

Laporte is not in 4A nor did they earn any points in 5A

  11. This game has the potential to be done super fast as both teams like to run the ball. NP has been playing out of their minds the last 5 weeks and haven’t had to play the starters for a full game all tournament. This game could come down to who is willing to take a chance throwing down field. Both defenses seem to be stingy on giving up points with offenses that are potent. Looks to be a nice and cold night Friday and should be a fun atmosphere. I’ll take the Cougars by 8
