So any news to talk about last night?
NP had more penalties yardage against them in 2nd quarter than most teams have in an entire season.
There's Gotta be something to talk about with Penn/Elkhart. Seemed like to good of a game to go silent after.
Clay I knew you were bad. But to be completely humiliated by one of the worse teams in the state....
Seems every time NP plays St Joe they rack up the penalties.

Anyone have the scoop on St Joe, What they do well offensively or not ? Solid defense? Players to keep an eye on?

Jimtown vs Bremen- I’ll take the Jimmies by 19
Knox vs Glenn- Sounds like Russ is starting to get his players to by in to his style. Knox by 14
Marian vs Adams- The Knights didn’t seem to be that bad of a team when I saw them Friday. Haven’t seen Adams yet by I’ll take the Knights QB to have a big night and lead them to victory. Marian by 14
Penn at Elkhart- I think Penn goes in and takes care of business and has the the upper hand to a conference championship. Penn by 13
St Joe at New Prairie- the Cougars are going to have to start playing 4 qtrs of football or eventually it’s going to come back and bite them. I did like what they did in the second half of the Marian game when they rotated the RBs every few plays. Cougars by 27
Washington at Clay- Washington

Some story lines for each game.
Does Marian prove they are still going to be a force come playoff time with a shellacking of Bremen? The Lions have been on both ends of a butt kicking thus far this season, can they get back to their mid-2010 form or is Bremen going back into a recession?
Elkhart shouldn't be challenged at all this game. If their offense doesn't put up 45+ this Friday I think the Lions would be underperforming so far on that side of the ball.
Is Penn back? probably the most intriguing game in the state this week. Lots of discussion after this one no matter the outcome.
Can Washington break the 7 point mark? Or is the West side waiting for girls basketball season to give SB something to cheer about?
NP took 2 from the red devils last year in two close games. Will Lowell challenge the cougars or is NP going to be an early clear favorite in sectional 17
A lot of hype coming from both Riley and Adams going into the season that has since been silenced; who has enough to get a win and be declared SB champions (Sorry Clay and Washington I can't imaging either one of you beating Adams or Riley).
Is this going to be the darkest day in Jimtown football the last 40 years?
Clay oh Clay you continue to amaze me year after year, at this point it's tough to imagine Clay ever getting back to a competitive level.
Could be a huge set back for the St. Joe program to lose this one. Does Barron have the Falcons believing enough to pull off a pretty big program win?
I think Marian will be just fine going forward, they lost a lot of talent from last year and will get back on track soon.
Its hard to gauge Penn and Elkhart this early. I believe Penn is improved from the last few seasons but not ready to compete with the big boys yet. Elkhart is a big question mark for me, I haven’t been impressed with them since they combined but doesn’t mean they won’t put it together.
New Prairie has the skill players to compete but my question is will they use them and not feature just one. They have a lot tougher sectional than last year and could very well not make it out.

The big match-up is Penn and Cathedral. Even though the Irish have lost they still are one of the top teams in the state. Penn could make a statement for 2022.

New Prairie wakes up in the second half and wins 33-14

New Prairie not looking good in the first half. Down 7-0 at the half
-
Let’s get some conversation started. Penn will be better than a lot thought?Elkhart has the studs to compete? New Prairie’s offensive line will get the job done? St Joe is better then the last few years? Lots of talking points, let’s discuss.

Let’s focus on some of the positives for the conference in week 1. Penn, Elkhart and New Prairie with dominant wins. My guess is it’ll be a 3 horse race this season and as of now will give the edge to the big boys(Penn & Elkhart).

I went to the NP vs Michigan City scrimmage and came away more confident that the Cougars will have a good season than I did earlier. The offensive line seems to be putting it together and can only assume they’ll get better as the season progresses. The defense as stated before should be solid, they were missing 2 key guys last night and still looked good. The offense looked as they were running they’re basic package and didn’t want to tip their opponents off. The backfield is going to be absolutely lethal with Mungia and Sinka running the ball. A couple new receivers emerged last night and look primed to make big plays. Looking forward to another successful cougar season.

Hopefully the O-line can put it together; that will be the key to a successful season for the cougars. No surprise about the defense, should be improved. Sinka really impressed me last year as a sophomore; the kid is a hard runner and hits the hole and falls forward. Guarantee to get you 3/4 yards every time he touches the ball. I hope the coaching staff finds ways to have Ryans, Sinka, Kmiecik, and Mungia on the field all at the same time. Frustrating last year when Mungia and Sinka would constantly sub in for one another. Just have them both in at the same time and make the defense respect both weapons.
Couldn’t agree more with having all those kids on the field at the same time, unfortunately I don’t think it’ll happen.
-
My 2 cents after watching 4 New Prairie scrimmages. The O-Line pass blocks really well and is weak on run blocking. They been rotating a lot on the line so it’s hard to judge which which combo is better. Kmiecik(qb) looks to be getting the ball out a lot faster with better accuracy and better decisions. Ryan’s(wr) catches everything and has the speed to break away. Sinka(rb) has impressed me with his power and speed and ability to hit the hole fast. The defense looks stout anchored by Ortman. The Cougars have the potential to be a very solid team once they work out some of the kinks out..
-
I believe MC had a few players missing so it was hard to judge. They definitely had a lot of team speed. Defense seemed a little suspect but way to early to judge.

NP had a scrimmage with Michigan City yesterday and here my way to early thoughts. I thought the skill players looked very good, it looked as if they’ve picked up some speed from last year. QB appears to have gained some accuracy and was throwing a really nice deep ball. Both running backs look to have gained more muscle and seemed primed to duke it out for game carries. The OL seems to be a work in progress but thought they passed block really well. The defense was fast and swarming to the ball. I think if they get the OL figured out they could duplicate last years success. Again this is a way to early assessment but was surprised with how they looked. Anyone else catch any of your teams scrimmages and have any early thoughts?

Games in the NIC - Week # 6
in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Posted
Really no intriguing games this week with Bremen and Glenn being the exception.
Bremen at Glenn- toss up game for me but I’ll take the Lions by 6
Elkhart at St Joe- Elkhart rolls to an easy victory. Watched the Indians last week and that’s not a good football team. Elkhart by 35+
Marian at Penn- another ho hum game Penn by 28+
Adams at New Prairie- could be an interesting story line developing for NP regarding a player( won’t say anything until it’s found to be true) but the Cougars cruise by 28+
Clay at Jimtown- nothing really needs to be said here
Riley at Washington- Riley seems to be the only SB school putting things together. Riley 28+
