  1. No problem. I just started posting my national stuff on here last season and there are probably many others who wonder where this know-it-all came from. Seriously, being retired with a lot of time on my hands this "hobby" helps pass the days and hopefully helps keen my mind sharp. Don't remember a team from Oregon playing a team from Florida, but we are starting to see more and more out-of-state contest each year. Hope you enjoy both the polls and weekly viewer guides.

  4. Wow, where to start. Roughly twenty years ago I was asked by Rivals to get with some other posters on their forum to compile a Top 100 for that site after Dallas Jackson was removed from their staff. That started my interest in compiling the poll for discussion and debate among others with similar interests in the national aspect of the game. Dallas Jackson soon established his own site and requested that I post exclusively on his site, which I did. In the following years, I have added other sites, including this one, to my "customer" base. My methodology is simple. I read, watch, and analyze this game on a daily basis from May to January. I am not smart enough to develop nor do I believe in algorithms. I am constantly viewing MaxPreps, rivals and other forums to gather all the information I can on teams throughout the country. I attend as many games as possible throughout the season and watch games both on TV and streaming services. For instance, next weekend I am going to Massillon, Ohio to watch four of the Cleveland area's best teams play four state champions, including Center Grove from Indiana. This does not only give me a chance to gauge those teams, but also a gauge on each state's strength. The following weekend, I will not only attend a game (most likely Warren Central at Carroll) but also watch the national games being broadcast on ESPN as part of their kickoff weekend. With all that of background, plus empirical data from prior seasons, I compile team rankings for every state, yes that includes states like Wyoming, Rhode Island, and other non-power states. From there I compile a Top 100 by looking at game results, player evaluations and the state's strength to compile the list. Hope this helps.

  6. I have never understood why it is not allowed in Indiana. Almost all other states have coop schools in their lower divisions. But then again, there are several things other states do that would benefit our schools here, but, after all, it is the IHSAA which is against any change in any form. Sometimes I wonder if they even look at what other states are doing to see if something that works would benefit us. But again, this is Indiana where progress is a dirty word.
  7. The good ol' Herbie Classic. Saw some great games and players during its short run in Cincinnati. Concord De La Salle played there one year but not against an Indiana team.
  8. So much for the 'success factor" LOL
  9. Archbishop Hoban (13-2) last season with losses to Lakewood St. Ed and Toledo Central Catholic in the Division II State final game. Wins over Cleveland St. Ignatius, Erie (PA) Cathedral Prep, Massillon Washington, and Hudson. Linton will look strange on their schedule this season.
  10. It is my understanding that there will be no Freedom Bowl in Canton this year. It's a shame because we went last year and really enjoyed the games.
  11. Last season they played Oakdale (CT) St. Thomas More and Middletown (DE). They also played West Toronto Prep, but since they were ahead 96-0 at half, the game was called.
  12. Here is that post: IMG is not independent. They are full members of FHSAA. They just have a deal where they aren't allowed to play in the state tournament, but they do have to follow FHSAA rules in terms of player eligibility (practice time, age of player, years eligible to play etc) The National team competes as an independent, but they have to follow FHSAA rules pertaining to high school player eligibility.
  13. I thought that was the case as well, but a poster on another site informed me that they are a member in good standing, but do not play in the state tournament. Apparently they have some sort of understanding with the state association that allows them an exemption for OOS games with the understanding that they will not play in the state tournament. I had also heard that St. Frances Academy of Baltimore was trying to get a game with Ben Davis.
  14. Seems to me I attended a St. Edward-Cathedral game at Indy Tech high school several years ago. IMO we still need to lift the 300-mile ban on our teams travel.
  15. I was hoping the game was part of the Freedom Bowl series but heard from the promoter that the Midwest event will not happen this year. Apparently, the game is a regular season match-up. Hopefully it is a home and home contract which would allow me to see Massillon play and eat at the Chubby Trout next season.
  16. Hopefully more programs will take advantage of the new travel rules and schedule some compelling OOS games.
  17. In 2013, Pike finished the season ranked 97th in the country.
  18. They have never been ranked in a national Top 100.
  19. Each year I compile a “Dynasty Ranking” for the national sites that I post on. The Dynasty Rankings are a compilation of my Top 100 polls since 2008. Points are earned by finishing in the final poll each season. A school is awarded 25 points for finishing in the Top 100 of a year-end poll. In addition, each school in the poll also receives points based on their finish in the poll. For instance, a school ranked at the top of the poll receives 125 points while the team that finishes ranked 100th receives 26 points. There are currently 561 teams in the 2023 Dynasty Rankings. Texas leads with 61 teams, followed by Florida with 54 teams, California with 48 teams, Georgia with 37 teams and Ohio with 28 teams. Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Rhode Island do not have any teams in the poll. Concord (CA) De La Salle was the top ranked team at the end of the 2023 season. De La Salle has led the poll since 2012. Ramsay (NJ) Don Bosco Prep led in years 2010-2011, with Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas leading after the initial poll in 2008, while Austin (TX) Lake Travis led in 2009. A note of caution to De La Salle, at the end of 2019 they led the poll for the top spot by 211 points. However, due to earning just 52 points in the last two years, their lead has slipped to just 23 points over Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman. For this site, I have decided to post the Top 25 (Dynasty Rankings) from the end of last season, a brief statistical summary of the state of Indiana and a list of the teams in the poll from Indiana. If you would like to see a complete list, PM me and I will send you a copy.
