Don’t want to take anything away from NJ, but LaVille’s offense is horrific.  Besides the Caston game, they have not scored an offensive TD all season, except in OT.  They have only had a total of 4-5 offensive TD’s.

That is meant to say LV offense has not scored an offensive 2nd half TD all season, except in OT.  Gotta change things or it will cost them come tournament time.

Judson win 10-9 over LaVille in OT.  Judson’s defense holds to LaVille to 40 yards of offense in the second half.  LaVille’s defense was as good as advertised.

From people in the know, the gate money from the NIC is down compared to the old NSC days.  Some of that goes to the fact that they don't play Plymouth or New Prairie any more, and they generally had good crowds.  But Washington, Clay, and Riley somewhat, don't bring good crowds.

Blow everything up!!  Start a new NSC 2 divisions in football, one all other sports. Get Glenn, Rochester, Valley, Bremen, Fairfield, Wawasee.  Then LaVille, Triton, Pioneer, Winamac, Judson, Knox.  Let Caston and Culver join Midwest.  Wawasee is not competitive in the NLC, but they will never leave that cash cow.

As you mentioned, nothing more needs said.  I am sure some frustrations are starting to take hold in Walkerton.  The Glenn players, coaches and fans were hoping for more this season I am sure.  At least their posts on social media would give an outsider the impression that they were pretty confident at the start of the season.  This group of seniors have never lived up to their own hype.  No conference championships, no noise in the tourney (and won't again this year) and mostly losses to their biggest rivals for 4 years.

Have to wonder if the coaches seat is getting a little warm.

They will never fire a coach for the lack of wins/losses.

So Here is the skinny on some early HNAC games . . . . Congrats to Winamac on its victory over Pioneer.  Panthers were not at 100%, but we all know you play 'next man up' and give the Warriors a lot of credit.  Caston playing inspired ball, got a 'W' and battled Triton.  LaVille missing overeall team speed resulting in not as many points . . . . Panthers picking up a few players at a time and will get back to 100%.

NJ @ Knox - Some think this one could be close. I think NJSP has a lot in the tank. BlueJays in this one.

Pioneer @ Caston - As I said, Caston improved but if #10 keeps following his blockers, Pioneer could run over the Comets.

Winamac @ LaVille -  So Pioneer has a loss, LaVille a loss, this is a big one for LV.  If Lancers can get the offense cranking, we could have three HNAC teams with a loss a piece.  Got to score more than once a game to get this one.  WHS gets this one.

Bremen @ Triton - Bremen gets it done here.

Culver @ West Central - Pickin' the Cavs In This One.  Like What Coach Zehner does with the boys!

as always the game is better

So does LaVille get a loss since they can’t play?

Big conference matchups this week.  Who ya got?

    North Judson @ Knox

    Pioneer @ Caston

    Winamac @ LaVille

    Bremen @ Triton

    Culver @ West Central

NJ @ Knox - This is going to be a tight one. Knox got a much needed victory this past week, and being at home, I think they get the job done.  28-22

Pioneer @ Caston - No doubt Caston has improved but after watching Pioneer carve up LaVille’s defense, I’m going with Panthers.  48-7

Winamac @ LaVille -  Lancers need this one in a big way.  Only averaging a TD per game isn’t going to get it done against an experienced Winamac team and staff.  21-7

Bremen @ Triton - Triton has made strides but Bremen will be to much for the Trojans to handle. 34-14

Culver @ West Central - Cavs large in this one!  48-14

  7. Recap on JH site:  On paper this match-up looked like it should be all LaVille. The Lancers struck quick for a big play score in the air, but Pioneer sustained drives and the Lancers defense couldn’t get the stops they needed to. Pioneer controlled the tempo, ate up the clock and had to rush for over 250 yards. LaVille had a goal line stand in the 2nd qtr to lead 7-0 at halftime. Brock Robinson was a stud, among many others for the Panthers. The Pioneer system/philosophy did exactly what they are known for and do it well!!

  8. Friday Aug. 20

LaVille at Bremen - If LaVille can play mistake free and  don’t give up big plays in the air, they should win at Bremen.  Never easy to do.  Lancers in low scoring game.

Lewis Cass at Pioneer - Is it a case of Pioneer re-loading or re-building   We shall see in the opener.  I’ll go with Kings by a cpl scores.

NJSP at Culver Community -  This is going to be a long opener for the Cavs.  Jays put this away early.

South Central (UM) at Triton - Triton returning some key players and it shows in the opener.  The Trojans start the season on a high note with a big V.

West Central at Caston - Comets start 1-0 in a close one.

Winamac at Knox* (HNAC) - The AD’s of both schools need to get this game moved to at least week 2!!  I think this is the Warriors year to break through and win conference.  So Warriors get a big one in week one!

  9. I am from northern Indiana, but have enjoyed the Western Boone success and following them the past few years in state tournaments.  I don’t know much about the school, their coach, program.  Are they going to be solid for some time or was this a case of having a couple really good classes?  Will their coach look to move on to bigger and better things, or is he have ties to the community?  Anyone in the know of the Stars, I would like to hear your assessment.

Knox looked atrocious like I thought they would.  There is zero discipline with that team.      Some how once again this year the coaches will vote #88 all conference again even though he puts no effort to playing.   Knox for some reason decided to run between tackles thinking it was good idea even though by 6 mins into game could tell they were gonna be dominated inside.   Every phase of game Knox got spanked.

I witnessed just the opposite tonight at LaVille.  Pioneer is just a machine!  Totally disciplined, they know exactly what their doing every play, so they play so fast it is amazing to watch.  I like watching this team better than any of the ones Kiser played on.  They truly have a system that they bring their players up in and develop them to do their job right.  They ran maybe 5 core plays all night and LaVille couldn’t stop them at all.  I enjoy watching them and I’m a LaVille fan.  I’m looking forward to next week’s championship at Bremen.  Not sure if these two schools have ever played each other but it’s been long over due!!

Knox 35 Triton 13 - I don't see Triton doing much on the Knox defense.

Winamac 28 Caston 8 - Shocked with last weeks score in the Caston match up.

North Judson 20 Laville 6 - This will be a big game for both teams, but I believe North Judson's secondary is much better than Laville's prior opponents. Laville has scored through the air 10 times to their 5 rushing TDs. This will be a battle of defenses and expect the young QB from Laville to get a lot of pressure.

    Pioneer 60 Culver 6 - ...

There is no way Judson scores 20 points on LaVille, at least on offense.   If they recover a fumble and return it 80 yards like Glenn did, then they might score in double digits but I just can’t see their offense scoring 2-3 times.  LaVille is solid defensively as always, so unless you have a lethal passing game or your just special running the ball, it won’t happen.  I think it ends up 20-7 LaVille.
