So then my next question would be, at what point to you make the determination on where the defender is? At the start of the hurdle? Or at any point he is under the hurdler?
-
What if the player attempting the tackle is horizontal while diving at the offensive player’s legs and nothing is touching the ground?

I think Gillin is a good choice for most underrated. Ralph and Gaddis get plenty of respect. Not sure any MIC coach should be in this conversation.

So they beat CG and all of a sudden every 3a school that they play is “double their size”? Interesting
I don't even know what this means???

You are so bitter! If we are getting into semantics, the only school that Center Grove plays that "has twice their enrollment" is Carmel.

Elder won the freshman game yesterday 28-17. Cathedral went for two late in the game and were unsuccessful.
I have no information on the JV game. If anyone has the score please pass that along.
It was 28-27 in freshman game, as I mentioned above. Probably a typo.
Last time I was at Arlington, that field was a goat ranch.

I concede. Dwenger and Valpo just aren't in the same league as New Pal and Cathedral. Congrats to the New Pal/Cathedral winner on their state championship trophy.
This is why the 5A winner will be decided on the field and not the Gridiron Digest message board.

I went to watch the Elder at Cathedral freshman game to see one of my former players. What a game. Elder won 28-27. Cathedral attempted 2 pt conversion with 30 seconds left to go for the win, but fumbled the exchange. Several times I wanted to shout out "1906!" and see what happened . . . HAH!

I agree that Chatard is on this list or very close.

Does CG announce attendance figures? Just curious on how many people were there Friday night. I know they gave NPHS 1000 tickets and sold out.

I was looking for this thread last night and couldn't find it.
That was the first time I've been at a football game at Center Grove. What a facility and atmosphere yesterday!

New Pal takes a 7-6 lead at halftime and wins going away 28-9. Better game than the score indicated. I'll be honest, CG looked tired in second half.

Only a 2 year deal. Not playing CG or Kokomo out of conference next year. I've heard NP had trouble finding opponents but it's my understanding that next year the non conference games are Brebeuf and Guerin
Very impressive performance and amazing atmosphere down there tonight
Brebeuf and Decatur Central the next two years.

I'll stick with Moore personally. Consistently competes for the top of the conference with far less talent and a much smaller enrollment. That's just me though...a separate argument certainly.
he did the same at Lawrence Central. Look at them before and after...

Do you even know why you quoted me?
I said.. "it stops on scores" it does. Jesus. When one of the teams scores.. it stops, then once the kickoff happens it starts again.
If you dont think it stops after scores, you've heard wrong. Idk what more you want me to say.

Sorry! I misunderstood what you were saying originally. Then you quoted me about what happens when it gets back under 35 points and things went off the rails.
As discussed, in the NP @ Kokomo the rule was done correctly. It did not stop after a TD. It ran during the extra point. And then the clock stopped to prepare for kickoff.

Cathedral JV 24, Noblesville JV 7
I'm unable to find the freshman score. I will post it when I'm advised of the score. Of course if anyone knows the score please post it here.
Cathedral won 14-7

WC offense looked good at times, and looked really bad at times. They hit two huge pass plays. CG looked much smoother offensively, but WC D should be given credit for forcing all those turnovers. Without the turnovers, CG probably wins by two scores.

Clearly, the ruling by the covering official is that the runner was down by forward progress before the ball came out. That is supportable on this clip. Had it been ruled a fumble and a recovery, that would also be supportable. This is just one of those judgment calls that gets made all the time ... and is always controversial. Can”t tell from the brief clip whether the crew handled it correctly from a mechanics standpoint. But I have no issue with the call itself.
I've seen a couple other angles of this play as well. They flubbed this one. You don't even hear any whistles until the ball is recovered. But your're right, it happens.

100% true
I saw both personal foul calls on film. Both were warranted. And the call above actually was in CG favor. Was not ruled a fumble.
Hurdling...Penalty or not!

hah, actually had a football officiating license at one time, but had kids and haven't got back to it. I plan on it someday. Just curious. Was having the same conversation with some IHSAA refs before youth league games yesterday.
