I get that they do it for wrestling - an individual sport.  But when would you and @jets propose the meeting?

Saturday morning after week 9?  That could be possible in 1-4A, but would be much easier in 5 & 6 where you would still have two weeks to prepare.

Let's say Saturday morning after week 9, the coaches of the 8 sectionals rank the teams, excluding your own team. Do it via Google Forms. The Forms get sent to the host school that's in charge of the money for the year. Then shared to each AD. Ballots have to be submitted by noon. If you do not submit a ballot, you automatically get seeded last.

If seeded appropriately 1-8? I think 50% is low but for argument sake say it is 50%, do we really need 70-80 something “playoff” games with a running clock? Precisely why cutting the field in half at the conclusion of a new 10 game regular season is the next step.

We have that now and if seeded properly we wouldn't have it after week 1 of the post-season.

Ok Calpreps, Massey, create your own formula....

Literally every other state has some kind of rating or qualification system that seeds the postseason or counts for inclusion.

    That's the next step.

Once you appropriately seed the sectionals, the need for what is now considered the first round becomes redundant. There will be running clocks in 75-80% of games if and when they seed appropriately.

    We're getting there....slowly but surely.

I feel like this number is high. In an 8 team seeded sectional, I think you'll get a running clock in around 50% of first round games.

    That's a great question.

I do not know the answer to this question. I know a friend of mine who is currently a high school principal and was formerly an athletic director has tried multiple times to get on this committee and has never even heard back from anyone after he has sent an email.

I think the OP accidentally put Cathedral in 6A and 4A in the first two posts.  Then QB coach moved up the "largest" school in each class to accommodate.  Notice Guerin (3A/4A cut line) and Centerville (2A/3A line) are moved just like Providence (largest 1A but 2A in the sectional alignment projection.)

That's why those projections are fun to discuss but FAR from anything official.

*Question* Does IHSAA set 6A (32) then 5A (32) - then evenly divide the bottom 4 classes?  Or do they set 64-64-64-60ish in 1A?

I don't think there are 320+ football schools which would mean 1A gets 64 then additional teams added at 5a?

I thought the biggest 32 were 6A. The bottom 64 were 1A. Next 64 were 2A and so on for 3A and 4A. Then the overflow went into 5A. That's why we get weird numbers in 5A sometimes like 37.

If I am not mistaken, ,there MAY have been a Martin County club team that would have included Shoals and Loogootee.

I could be wrong, but weirder things have happened....

That was the Martin County Raiders. If I remember right, they had some different age groups. Pretty sure a HS age team was offered.

I don't see the point then. But I admit, didn't read your post closely enough, I had assumed this was going to mean we couldn't schedule Seymour.

Just tell Pekin/Madison to move to the PLAC lol

What is gained by this? I don't think Salem or BC would want to move on from playing each other. Very close proximity, good rivalry, well attended.

Like I said before, I know it's a football forum but other sports would benefit from this. I really think you could host a really profitable conference volleyball/boys and girls basketball tournaments with a bigger conference. In a world of streaming games, could an app for a conference be a way to make money? Maybe? When schools have to factor in increasing travel costs, does this help keep teams closer to home?

I worked with him for 2 years. Pekin hired a really good FB coach.

    I'd rather be independent.

You always say that and your football schedule could actually be better. Makes no sense. You already play your 6 divisional opponents. You can still play Seymour. You can find two better opponents than Salem and Pekin if you want.

    This is a interesting concept.

I like the idea of more non conference games and playing some other teams from around the area.

If going by enrollment Brownstown and Salem would switch, like it or not.

OR there is this scenario where you could match up based off of Sagarin rating of past season.

MSC Gold (Brownstown 82, Paoli 136, Silver Creek 154, Charlestown 158, Springs Valley 171, Scottsburg, 196, NH 203)

    MSC Silver ( Salem 241, WW 244, Eastern 248, Corydon 265, Madison 272, Mitchell 294, Crawford 304)

The Sagarin Ratings idea is neat. Would create a competitive schedule for everyone in theory. Wouldn't be hard to figure out. I know this is a football forum but I think having a good basketball or volleyball tournament at the end of the season prior to sectional play would be great. Hopefully a big money maker.

Who all in PLAC has wrestling? I only know of WW and Mitchell.

Also under this proposal our schedule changes 0. So....not sure I feel 1 way or another. Haha

Overall, there wouldn't be a ton of changes. I'd like to involve Clarksville somehow but I left them out.

WW, Paoli, Mitchell do for sure have wrestling. Crawford County did have wrestling. Not sure if they still do or not.

I propose something similar to this every year. Going to keep at it until it happens. I'm a really big fan of what the PAC has done with their Big/Small Divisions. We should steal this idea. Unfortunately, Perry Central I'm sending you to the Small PAC but I think it would be a great fit. Almost everyone would be on Central Time. Almost everyone is right off 64.

MSC Big Division (Charlestown, Corydon, North Harrison, Brownstown, Scottsburg, Madison, Silver Creek)

MSC Small Division (Eastern, Crawford County, Mitchell, Paoli, Springs Valley, West Washington, Salem)

Everyone would have 6 conference games and 3 non-conference teams.

I haven't figured it up but I bet the travel expenses would be less with this as well.

Also, this would create a really fun 16 team conference for other sports with Austin and Orleans being non-football schools.

I don't know much about wrestling but this might help the PLAC wrestling schools as well.

  12. IFCA Senior/Junior All-State Teams were announced over the weekend.

    Senior Team 1A

    Konner Chase-DB Springs Valley

    Larron Childers-LB Springs Valley

    Senior Team 2A

    Trey Rominger-RB Paoli

    Ryan Branaman-DL Brownstown

    Junior Team 1A

    Kayce Jones-DL Springs Valley

    Junior Team 2A

    Owen Wischmeier-LB Brownstown

    Micah Sheffer-P Brownstown

Then your email was apparently more clear than your post.

For whatever reason, this reminds me of a funny incident I had with a fellow parent the summer before my oldest son's freshman year (2009). The wrestling coaches were running a camp or workouts and a kid who had attended a public school was there. He was a pretty good wrestler, but nothing too special. The dads were all in the back of the room and the kid's dad was letting everyone know his son had "been given a scholarship" to attend Memorial (this was pre-voucher era). I was on the school's Board of Trustees at that time and knew damn good and well there was no such thing as an athletic scholarship. The other dads had been in feeder program and we all knew this guy was blowing smoke. So, I said "Wow! Congratulations! How much?" and then asked the head coach (who is a good friend) why that guy's son was getting a scholarship and my kid wasn't. The coach, very quickly, said "Sir, if you go around telling lies like that, you and your son won't be around here very long." And he was right, they weren't.

Your story reminds me of a funny story too. About a month ago, we played our 6th grade in the Titan Clash. It is a youth tournament Gibson Southern hosts every year. They do a great job with it. Sunday we were playing Memorial. Before the game the coach and I were talking about how the youth programs are set up in the Evansville area. I didn't know how it was done in the area and as far as Memorial, they have like 3 different teams from the feeder schools he said then they picked that group to play in the Titan Clash. They probably had 22-25 kids there. Late in the game, we are kneeling the clock out. I was talking to the official, who is an Evansville area official, about how small physically their kids were and I was surprised with 3 teams, they didn't have some kids that had more size. He basically said, You know when these kids get older, they will all play for Memorial but they won't be the kids that they win with. He said, they will get the dudes that they win with in the next few years. It won't be these kids. I thought that was funny.

    Course you aren't

thats where the debate starts, but that argument isn't convenient for you guys anymore so the goalposts have moved

what are we on now "capped enrollment", "public schools having to deal with problem kids", "not enough faith to win the football game"???

no I'm a busy guy and most of what you write is pretty sub optimal in terms of retaining brain cells, so I normally just skip to the end.

I feel like you're the 6 year old losing an argument and you just yelled, "You're stupid." at the other 6 year old.

Well, did you say you wanted to transfer him for athletic purposes, or that you wanted to better prepare him for college? Those are two entirely different things. If this was our AD, then I would say he handled it exactly as we would want - put the prospective family in touch with the Enrollment Director.

It was very clear the purpose of the transfer was for athletic purposes. My son is a good student. I didn't want to short change him.
