Eye Test All-City Team: Just City schools, any thoughts?

    QB -Wagner Bosse

RB- Weird year no one stands out?

This may break with the norms for selecting this team but why not put Wagner in the RB slot?  While he can throw, his best plays are with his feet...put him at RB and every team in the city & SIAC  is stronger.  Of course, this leaves the QB spot open and, to be honest, none have stood this year in my opinion.  Ellesperman from Memorial was doing well up to the point of his injury.

  2. Looking at the predictions for the NP @ MD game, it is interesting how Massey & CalPreps have nearly identical scores but predict different winners.  Algos gone wild!

Massey gives nod to MD, CalPreps picks the Vikings and John Harrel picks the Vikings by a TD 28 - 21.  No idea how this one turns out just hoping for a good game and that MD finds a way to keep "The Streak" alive for one more year!  All my NP friends are wearing me out with their; "This is the year!" comments...could be, should be but...

I know this is a forum of “I told you so’s” - so here ya go. This whole MD has played the gauntlet of SIAC schools so they’ll be ready for a run to State might be a bit premature. NP had a running clock vs TC in the 3rd quarter.

Apparently it is a Forum for fiction as well.

N-O-T-H-I-N-G in the 2 posts you quoted of mine mention anything remotely close to your "running the SIAC gauntlet ..ready for a run to state"... gibberish...  In fact, neither of them mention anything about the MD vs TC game, period.       Feel free to search the entirety of my GID posting history and you will find NOTHING like what you alluded to in your post.  Try to focus...Looks like the November rent came in early.  Must be the voices getting louder again.

I prefer competitive scheduling and conference alignments should always be reevaluated to encourage it.  The article touches on aspect of that.

The article suggests big match-ups between SIAC, PAC, and Indy schools could happen if the conference wasn't closed.  I agree, that could happen.  But considering it basically rarely or never happened prior to a closed conference, I'm not sure why it would happen if the conference opened up.

Lots of things "could happen" if the SIAC was not closed but, as mentioned, these games were not a priority before and are unlikely to be a priority in the future.  Travel time, travel cost, student safety, etc are greater priorities for high school ADs than these "ideal match ups" with more distant teams. The playoffs often provide these kinds of match-ups.

Jasper and VL are the only two teams with any driving distance btwn them and the rest of the SIAC and residents from both of those communities seem to routinely visit E'ville area for various activities; dining, shopping, medical so their fans don't think the drive is that big of deal.

Reitz is loaded. Take Vera off the Panthers they may have the same record. Take Wagner off the Bulldogs can’t say the same. Plus Wagner stats with a worse oline worse defense to put him in good positions are way better than Vera’s. I’m not sure it’s that easy.

All good pts but Wagner's stats are likely better simply because Bosse literally has no other options.  Vera is one of several guys on Reitz who make big plays each game, he just happens to be the best, again IMO.  Bosse's best play is a "broken play" where Wagner's speed and ability to dodge defenders are on full display.  I would have to agree with "Dawgs" comment that if Wagner didn't have to play QB, he would be just as versatile as Vera and possibly even more dangerous.   It would be interesting to see him get the ball in space with only LBs & DBs to dodge vs the entire D.  You couldn't really go wrong with either player...

This is where the game turned IMO.  MD lost its really strong FG kicker (#47, Marx)  before the season started and has been unable/unwilling to even attempt FGs beyond 20 yds +/- the entire year.  They had no choice but to go for 1st down on 2 different 2nd half drives when they had 4th and very long, when otherwise they might have kicked a FG.

Goebel & Co. had a great game plan - control the clock with running game and keep the ball away from Panthers & Vera.  Unfortunately, MD came up about 4 inches short of what might have been the BIGGEST upset in the series, at least from the MD perspective.

Props to Panthers, esp. Mr. Vera - who, if not THE BEST high school player in So Indiana this year, is certainly the most fun to watch...unless he plays for the other team.  You always hold your breath when he gets the ball because anything can happen  and often does.

On to the Playoffs where MD has fired a warning shot across the bow of Sectional 30 that they may be down but they are certainly not out - at least not yet.  Surely North Posey fans are much less certain this morning that "this is the year" they beat MD...

Good luck Panthers...hoping our west side brethren can make a deep playoff run in 4A.

Excuse me...fat finger....meant to type Sectional 40   Just noticed the annual playoff bracket shenanigans are once again in full force as NP would travel to the Bowl for the potential Match up with MD in Round 2.

The Tigers may have something special with #4. Let the player be who he is and see what happens. It will definitely open up the field and teams will have to respect his arm. If you want to beat good teams they can’t stay as vanilla as the last two weeks.

The  only issue with #4 for Tigers is how hard he throws.  The young man has a CANNON.  Throwing to the 2nd string WRs late in the Reitz game, several passes went right through the WR's hands.  Yes, they were "catchable" balls but not many 2nd string high schools WRs can handle that kind of velocity.  Perhaps if he gets to throw to frontline guys, he will have more success.

    - Congratulations to Bosse, as they beat MD for the first time in 30 years on Homecoming. Bosse went down 13-0 early and scoring 22 straight points in the 2Q, which proved enough, as the Dawgs would win it 36-20. While MD has struggled, it looked like they had some offensive success initially but dwindled, but I do know it was 28-20 game throughout the 4Q until Bosse sealed the deal with a late TD.

Best guess on Bosse team that beat MD "30 yrs ago" was the one with Levron Williams at RB?

  10. I cannot remember the last time Bosse was favored against Mater Dei.  However, looking at the line, Bosse - 7, I am not certain that is enough pts.  Their D is pretty good but MD STRUGGLES to move the ball, with little speed and inconsistent rhythm in their passing attack.  If MD can run the ball and set up more favorable down & distance situations for the passing game, they have a chance.  Wow, I cannot believe I just wrote that: "If MD does....it has a chance....against Bosse..."  This is the most difficult season in recent memory for MD.

I like this match-up as well and think the Wildcats might pull off the upset.  They are due for a game to go their way...

Well, the Defense showed up and played well, despite the lopsided final score.  Offense still struggling mightily with too many issues to list.  MD may not win another game this season, including Sectionals, depending on their draw. 😟
