Game to watch in the south is (8-3)Memorial VS (11-0)Central in S24

I think if the SIAC wants to be represented well and have a better shot of advancing through the playoffs Central needs to win this one, which I believe they do.  Central is rolling right now. Central 35-21

I don’t have a very well-informed opinion.  I haven’t seen either team play this year.

But if Mooresville is anywhere near as good  as they were last year, I’m going with them - both in this game and in the regional.

Last year, Mooresville seemed solid at pretty much every position.  Very stingy defense.  Guys seemed to be properly positioned more often than not.  Executed well offensively as well.  O-line was not only massive, but had very good athleticism and footwork.

I have no idea how much they lost from that team.  And I can’t express any thoughts on EC, though they’re obviously really good too.

But it was easy to tell both how talented and well-coached Mooresville was.

Mooresville has 2 OL who are committed to play at Purdue and the rest of their line is fairly large (not 100% sure but would be willing to say they average around 6'2 280 for their OL). Their QB is a sophomore but a very good athlete (also is 6'2 210). I think they are going to give any team they face this season troubles and are going to be a tough out. Hoping to see Gillin make the run to Thanksgiving weekend and to see the Mid-State represented well!

  3. 31-8 on my picks for the year. 3 way tie for conference champions between DC, Whiteland, and Mooresville.

Greenwood (4-4) @ Whiteland (7-1)- Surprising big win for Greenwood last week over Franklin. Don't think they'll have enough fire power to hang with Whiteland. Whiteland 35-14

    Plainfield (4-4) @ Martinsville (3-5)- Plainfield 35-21

DC (6-2) @ Franklin (3-5)- DC too much to handle. 42-14

    Perry (0-8) @ Mooresville (7-1)- Mooresville 56-7

Looking at sectionals it appears Whiteland and Mooresville will be the 2 teams with a possibility of making a run in the tourney. Both Plainfield and DC are stuck in Cathedral's sectional with little hope of making it out. Whiteland is the Sagarin favorite to make it out of sectional 14 though it won't be easy with New Pal looming. Then they would get Cathedral in regionals.

Mooresville will get to host East Central week 2 of sectionals giving them the edge. IF they can make it past EC they will have a tough regional vs most likely Jasper or Evansville Central and then a semi-state matchup vs either Roncalli or Mt. Vernon. All speculation. Guess that's why we don't determine a winner until it's played out on Friday night.  Would love to see Mooresville and Coach Gillin represent the Mid-State at LOS on Thanksgiving weekend.

    Good luck to all!

An intriguing set of games this week (excluding LC & Carmel). Does CG get it done against an equally elite Cathedral team in the Indiana HS game of the year? Can Pike finally eek out a close win, after some heart-breaking losses? Does BD finally get a W against someone other than the bottom three in the conference?

CG and Carmel have distanced themselves as the top two teams in the MIC, with a cluster of teams ranked from 3-7 in the conference (LN, NC, BD, Warren, and Pike), that could beat each other on any Friday night.

BD vs NC (Giants -3)---- NC's margin of their games (Ws and Ls) mirror what BD's has looked like as well and think BD finally puts together their best game of the season, looking forward to an easy run to Regionals.

Cathedral vs CG (Cathedral -1.5)----Cathedral's schedule gives them an edge in this game and cements themselves as a top 10 team in the nation.

LC vs Carmel (Carmel -35) LC was without their starting QB against BD and if that trend continues, running clock to start halftime against the Greyhounds.

Pike vs LN (LN -5)---Pike's been in several close losses this year (29-27 against WC, 45-44 against Carmel, and 27-21 against NC), and think they have the potential to pull an upset against LN's explosive offense.

    NC 28-21

    CG 21-17

    Carmel 42-7

    LN 35-21

Roncalli has a real shot of coming out of the South.

I look forward to seeing how the Roncalli/East Central game this Friday plays out.  Both are ranked top 4 in Sagarin’s.

It might well be a preview of the Semi-State.

Very well could be. My pick is Mooresville vs Mt. Vernon, but I’ve been wrong before.

  6. 28-7 on my picks for the year. Now a 3 way tie for conference champions between DC, Whiteland, and Mooresville.

    Guerin Catholic (2-3) @ DC (5-2)- DC 35-14

    Franklin (3-4) @ Greenwood (3-4)- 28-27 Franklin

Perry has no game scheduled currently

Thats silly and proves your non serious and blase' attitude towards the issue.  Schools outgrow conferences all the time.  Some stay out of convenience.  Penn would be an example of that thinking.

With some of your comments on here it almost seems like you're trolling the board. Obviously, that quote was a joke. If Mt. Vernon goes on to win the conference for the next 5 years and continues to attract talent you'll be saying the same thing about them. This all goes back to the basic facts. Parents want their children in a good school system. Having a good coach/team that they can play for is a positive...that most likely is not the root of their decision. At the end of the day you can not control this decision to "block" the students from going to the school if the parents physically move there. You can go to many conferences where the same school wins a majority of the time. That doesn't mean all the other schools still aren't competing. I don't get your logic in wanting contraction of all these schools and conference realignments anytime something isn't going right for some schools. At the end of the day this is HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL and the lessons the kids take from it are more important than most other things they will do in life leading up to turning 18. Just aggravated in your attitude on this board at times. I know I can go read something else. Just my two cents.

I disagree on your comment regarding the IHSAA and competitive balance.  The class structure and the SF are the two primary building blocks towards maintaining competitive balance.  They are both implemented, managed and adjusted by the IHSAA regularly to stay in tune with the ebbs and flows of competitive balance.

I agree with your comment regarding conference affiliation.  Perhaps the NP athletic department has outgrown the HHC and needs a bigger sandbox.  There are several potential options, including Mid State, Circle City, Conference Indiana.   My guess is NP would rather stay and dominate in the HHC than stretch itself in a more competitive league.  To each their own.

Contraction of all the HHC schools besides New Pal is the only answer

    Ben Davis at Carmel

I think BD has improved with each game this year, and they bounce back after a tough loss to LN last week.  BD by 3

    Center Grove at Pike

Everyone has already crowned CG the 6A champs, BUT NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND.  Coach Ech and the Red Devils finally break through and get that statement win for the program.  Pike will play to win the game and I predict the ball just bounces their way tonight. Pike by 1

    Lawrence North at Warren Central

LN wins in OT against a BD who just beat WC.  I like the WC defense here in a low scoring game.  WC by 2

    North Central at Lawrence Central

North Central wins by 20+.  Hoping for some stability in the LC program soon as they've gone scoreless over the last 3 games.

    Carmel by 10

CG by as many as they want.

    LN by 3

    NC by 28

Dont despair Coach Harvey.  Its a good argument.  Like many we have had on this site before.  New Pal is the new Roncalli, defending their success from outsiders who challenge their methods and processes.  The SF mitigated Roncalli's hegemony.  Perhaps the IHSAA will learn something from the CS situation and step in next time its sees the potential for similar circumstances to develop

I would assume Mt. Vernon has gotten some pretty good move ins since Kirschner has taken the HC job. Kids/Parents are always going to go to 1. Good school systems 2. Somewhere they feel they can win/get some college attention (if they're good enough). It's inevitable. I don't think a move from Muncie to Indy is that far fetched of an idea. You seem overly invested in this...

  11. 25-6 on my picks for the year.

Mooresville (6-0) @ Whiteland (5-1) -  Mooresville looks to clinch at least a share (most likely outright) of the Mid-State title this week with Martinsville and Perry being left in the schedule. Mooresville 35-24

Perry (0-6) @ Martinsville (2-4)- Best chance for Perry to get in the win column for the year. Martinsville 28-17

    Greenwood (3-3) @ DC (4-2)- DC 35-14

Plainfield (3-3) @ Franklin (3-3)- Should be a tightly contested game that will come down to who turns the ball over less. Plainfield 28-24

    Power Rankings Week 6

    2. DC

    3. Whiteland

If pioneer stays  #1 in 2A then Ud think the team that thrashed New Haven would get a little love in the 3A poll?

IFCA poll didn't seem to think so either. Polls at the end of the day are opinions. Always people who won't be pleased.

    This poll is a JOKE!!!

Eastbrook seems to be about where they belong according to Sagrin ratings. Pioneer 1 is a little out there.
