For context, you aren’t the only person that has hyped them up. You’re the first I’ve seen that has mentioned the number of D1 recruits they have though. Maybe someone else has mentioned it and I’ve missed it.

Nothing is wrong with it unless it becomes a pattern. Then it just gets old. I love seeing new teams in the mix of things at the end. It’s way more interesting to me than seeing the same old teams every year. However, when teams constantly get hyped but never come close to the expectations, it starts to feel like the boy who cried wolf. Maybe this is the year it’s actually legit. I hope so. But they really need to follow through on it because it’s getting old. Just my two cents.

It’s been at least five straight years of this. They get hyped up in the preseason about all the talent they have. The media and/or coaches rank them in the top 10 of their class. The fans buy into it. Then what happens? Aside from a good 8-3 season in 2022, absolutely nothing happens. No sectional titles since 1990. No conference titles since 2013. Maybe this is the year for them. If they really do have all these D1 players then that’s awesome. However, let’s see if they can get through sectional 19 first. Dwenger, East Noble, and Leo can make things tough.

With all due respect, y’all have to stop propping up Fort Wayne North Side like they’re some sort of state title threat. You’re making me dislike them like a certain someone makes me dislike Merrillville. Once they win a state title then have at it. Until then, it’s all just talk that they never live up to.

It’s hard for me to predict this season because four of the six teams have new coaches. If I recall, I think BNL lost a lot so predicting them is also hard. The only thing I feel pretty confident about is Floyd Central at #1.

39 days until scrimmages. 46 days until week 1 games. Crazy how quickly time is going. We’ll be back at it in no time.

Good. That’s the way it should be. Private schools need to get their funds privately. This is two-fold. It allows taxpayer money to go toward public education and it keeps government from having any sort of influence on educational institutions that aren’t associated with government. Want to center your education around religious beliefs? Good. You should. But if you take money from the government, don’t be upset when they start trying to tell you how to do things. In other words, if you borrow money from the mob then don’t be surprised when they come to collect.

Heck, gloves are about worth that much these days. I just wanted to get a glove so I could throw a ball with my young kid and the cost of some of the gloves at Dick’s Sporting Goods blew me away.

Actually, upon further research, I need to retract that particular statement because there’s a bigger gap in the student numbers in comparison to the NE8 than I realized. Competitively, that would be a good fit for football but I’m not sure it would work out well for the other sports. I had surmised that Wayne and South Side would fit well in the NE8 because they were 4A football schools like most of the conference. I had forgotten, though, that both just got bumped up to 5A. Not to mention, the NE8 schools in 4A were on the lower side student population-wise. Nevertheless, I still don’t think it’s feasible for Wayne or South Side to join the NCC either. The only realistic options I see are for them to stay in the SAC, go independent, or try to gather a few regional schools in hopes of forming a new conference.

Yep. Everyone is too emotional these days. It’s ok to be mad or frustrated but there’s great value in composure and restraint. Stop and think first before wearing your heart on your sleeve. It’s not always worth it.

My point is if they want to compete for a conference title then there are conferences closer to home that won’t drain their finances. Money drives everything at the end of the day, for better or for worse. Considering money is harder to come by for public schools these days, it would be for the better in this instance.

I don’t understand this. Marion is the only school in the NCC within an hour of Wayne and South Side. I don’t care about the basketball thing. There are many other sports to take into consideration. Google Maps has the following travel times for Wayne and South Side to the NCC schools: Wayne to Anderson - 1 hr 19 min Wayne to Kokomo - 1 hr 30 min Wayne to Lafayette Jeff - 2 hr 1 min Wayne to Marion - 54 min Wayne to Muncie Central - 1 hr 16 min Wayne to Richmond - 1 hr 50 min Average - 1 hr 28 min South Side to Anderson - 1 hr 24 min South Side to Kokomo - 1 hr 34 min South Side to Lafayette Jeff - 2 hr 6 min South Side to Marion - 58 min South Side to Muncie Central - 1 hr 20 min South Side to Richmond - 1 hr 53 min Average - 1 hr 33 min Keep in mind, these are the times based on the current traffic conditions at midnight. It would be much worse between 3 and 7 PM. I don’t know the financial situation with Fort Wayne Community Schools but I can’t imagine they’d be in favor of Wayne and South Side having this much travel. This would be for every sport (boys and girls varsity, JV, and freshman teams). If someone could prove me wrong, I’d be willing to concede. However, I can’t imagine this would work.

Why Batesville? Lawrenceburg is in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Therefore, they can remain the Cincinnati Bengals. Plus, they can build a stadium along the Ohio River and have a nice riverfront district. And, like with Hammond, there would be a casino nearby.
