  1. If I was a fan of any other HHC team I’d feel the exact same way. Not gonna disagree with you on that one bit.
  2. 2021 HHC Prediction: 1. Columbus East - Kind of hard to pick against them. Eddie Vogel is the new head coach but he’s been at East under Bob Gaddis for almost 20 years. Vogel has already said not much will change in the way things are done so I’m going to expect more of the same success on the field. 2. New Albany - They could honestly be the most talented team in the conference. Execution will be the question. 3. Floyd Central - Hard to imagine any of the other teams jumping the Highlanders for third. Despite the slip-up in sectionals last year, James Bragg is building something and he has the talent and resources to do so. 4. Jeffersonville - Isaac Parker is in year three as head coach and the team’s end to year two has given the program some great momentum. The question is, can they maintain it? 5. BNL - This is the team I’m having the hardest time getting a read on. They have a brand new coach and they’re coming off of two straight rough seasons. I feel like they have the potential to be better but there’s just too many unknowns here for me to rank them higher. 6. Seymour - Still not feeling too confident in the Owls. I just have a hard time trusting their young, second-year head coach to get the job done. My impression is that he was a bit overwhelmed making the jump last year. We’ll see how much he and the team have improved. 7. Jennings County - I would’ve had them one spot higher if they didn’t have a last-second coaching change. Every time the program takes a step forward they end up taking two steps back.
  3. Yeah I hope you didn’t take it as an insult. I didn’t mean it that way. I know Floyd Central lost a ton of seniors. Personally, I feel like Charlestown is a fourth-place team at best if they were in the HHC. That’s not to knock them but it’s quite a jump from 3A. They’re a little over half the size of our smallest school, Jennings County.
  4. If the scrimmage was even then my thinking is that’s bad for Floyd Central. Charlestown shouldn’t be on their level. Educate me if I’m wrong but that’s just my perspective on it.
  5. East was supposed to scrimmage at Martinsville but the Artesians are in quarantine. Now East will scrimmage at Decatur Central.
  6. Basketball is an embarrassment and I’m not just talking about the team on the floor. We probably have the worst gym in the state. I wish we could tear it down and start again. I hate watching games there.
  7. Oh come on. This conference has to be the best at something because we sure don’t do it as a whole on the gridiron 😂
  8. Competitive banter is definitely the right word. I save the Ric Flair promos for the people I don’t like 😂
  9. Jeffersonville’s scrimmage and week 1 game are canceled per a post by @NLCTigerFan07
  10. You can add me in that mix. Can’t stand North but I’ll give the devil his due. They have a very solid athletic program across the board and put ours to shame.
  11. Completely agree. I’ve always said conferences should have their teams play each other an equal number of times. If your conference is too big to allow that then maybe you shouldn’t have that many teams to begin with. However, it always comes down to money. The more you can get the less people care about things like balanced conference schedules.
  12. I agree. Unfortunately, it happens all the time in college athletics. Those massive conference sizes don’t allow for a double round robin in basketball so they only play like half the teams once and the other half twice.
  13. Conference Indiana did back when it was a 10 team league from 1998-2005. They always played a seven game conference schedule. The North Central Conference always plays a seven game schedule despite having ten teams.
  14. Even if a merger did occur, I highly doubt they’d play a nine game conference schedule. Columbus North wouldn’t want that because they wouldn’t be able to play Columbus East.
  15. Could you clue me in on the idea that Columbus East doesn’t want Columbus North in the HHC? Not saying you’re wrong but I’m an East alum and I’ve never heard this. Then again, everyone pretty much accepted that they each had their own conferences. From my perspective, North has always had a white collar mentality and has preferred playing the bigger schools in south-central Indiana as well as Indy area schools. On the flip-side, East has a blue collar mentality and prefers playing their traditional southeast Indiana rivals. While I am jealous of North’s strong commitment to athletics and their athletic brand, it should be noted more money flows into that school by way of a richer student population. Take a drive through both high schools’ districts and you’ll see what I mean. Nevertheless, I’d still like to hear what you know or think you know about East not wanting North in the HHC. I know there was some strong disdain between fans of the schools back in the 70s because North thought East took all the football talent. However, I wasn’t aware of any major disdain (such as what you’re referencing) occurring today.
  16. Meanwhile, back to the topic at hand…😂
  17. My thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Sharp, his daughter, and the family. With the season so close, this is a major blow. I hate it for the kids on the team. Coach Sharp was building something and I hope Justin Baldwin or whoever takes the job next year can continue it.
  18. Jennings County’s Justun Sharp has stepped down as the head football coach. He posted the following on Facebook.
  19. I’m impressed you have knowledge about a school in a county that borders Tennessee and Virginia. That’s nowhere near Indiana. Lol
  20. Didn’t know much about Bell County except that, like Mount Vernon (Posey), their enrollment is in the 600s. Maybe I’m not giving those schools enough credit, but I penalized them both for that.
  21. 2021 Non-Conference Schedules BNL: at Martinsville, at Bloomington North, vs Madison Columbus East: at Whiteland, vs Columbus North, at Indianapolis Chatard Floyd Central: at Louisville Male, vs Louisville Manual, vs Silver Creek Jennings County: at Norwell, vs Brown County, vs Madison Jeffersonville: vs Bell County (KY), at Mount Vernon (Posey), at Silver Creek New Albany: at Bloomington South, vs Gibson Southern, vs Bloomington North Seymour: at South Dearborn, vs Brownstown Central, at Madison If you had to rank these non-conference schedules, what would you have? I think it’s really hard to decide the order of the top two because I don’t really know much about Louisville Manual. Looks like they won a bunch of state titles a long time ago but I don’t know how relevant they are now. I’d say Louisville Male is the toughest of any of the non-conference opponents but I’ll give the slight edge to East for the overall depth of their three games (sorry Silver Creek) plus the fact two of the three are on the road. 1. Columbus East 2. Floyd Central 3. New Albany 4. BNL 5. Seymour 6. Jeffersonville 7. Jennings County
  22. Are you advocating for a pod system? Lol
  23. Still wouldn’t work for conferences with an odd number of teams. There’s always going to be a week where a team doesn’t have a conference opponent.
  24. More than nine-team conferences with eight conference games?
  25. Yeah I completely understand. By no means was I favoring a nine game conference schedule. On the positive side, it’s super easy to schedule and you don’t have to worry about finding a non-conference opponent for a certain week. On the other hand, you don’t get a good grasp of how you measure up to other schools in the state. I know the Summit Athletic Conference has had a ten team, nine conference game schedule since 2015 and the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference started doing the same this past season. Nevertheless, the consensus from the players, coaches, and fans in the SAC is that they’d prefer to have non-conference games. Not knowing how they measure up to those outside the conference prior to tourney time is one of the reasons, but also that they get bored playing the same nine teams over and over again.
