  1. Just throwing out there that Castle doesn’t have the ability to schedule non-conference games because the SIAC expanded to ten teams and they all play each other.
  2. Not due to COVID. It’s been an issue for East long before COVID came around.
  3. Based on the results of conference games thus far, they’ll compete with New Albany for the HHC title. Maybe Floyd Central will compete too once we see how they look against HHC teams.
  4. The problem with us East fans is we’ve been overly spoiled by 17 seasons of tremendous success. I barely remember East football before 2004 because I didn’t have a reason to follow them. My love of high school sports didn’t begin until I was in high school. We went 7-5 my freshman year (2003 season) and then the team took off after that. I’m not going to get on here and bash Coach Vogel though. I know the guy and am aware of how much he contributed to the success of the team behind Coach Gaddis. To be fair to him, this team has the least amount of talent and depth I’ve seen (Again, I didn’t truly start following until 2003). We should’ve seen this downfall coming. I think we did but most of us didn’t want to accept it. On the flip-side, I’m not seeing the same amount of energy or swagger I’m used to seeing from East. I’m with @Olympian06 in that I also believe Gaddis would’ve figured out how to protect the lead last night and pull out a win. Regardless, this team was going to lose an HHC game whether it was last night or sometime down the road this season. The players are the ones that have to execute the game plan and they just seem to lack the talent to do so. My biggest concern about all of this is we have a very fickle fan base. When we aren’t winning, we don’t show up unless it’s the rivalry game against Columbus North. The new home stands that were built before the 2014 season, I’ve slowly seen them become less and less filled since 2018, maybe 2019. A bad East team is really going to hurt attendance. On top of that, there’s not a lot of excitement anyway because the students aren’t allowed to be. Not going to name any names for the reason why but, in my opinion, it’s ridiculous and only hurts us. Nevertheless, I’ll still be at East games when I can. That won’t change. And if we are going to fall off the HHC pedestal, I hope more fans of other HHC teams will join or return to this message board. I like the five of you or so who get on here and interact, but it would be nice to see fans of Seymour, Jennings County, New Albany, and Jeffersonville as well.
  5. Here’s a fun game. The HHC is 0-12 in non-conference games so far. When are we going to get our first win? Will we ever get a win? How many games will we win? Week 4: Jeffersonville (1-1) at Mount Vernon (Posey) (3-0) Week 5: Madison (1-2) at Jennings County (0-3) Week 6: Brownstown Central (3-0) at Seymour (1-2) Week 7: Columbus East (0-3) at Indianapolis Chatard (0-3) Week 8: Madison (1-2) at BNL (1-2) Week 9: Seymour (1-2) at Madison (1-2)
  6. Nah. Picking who finishes last will be pretty easy. It’s definitely Jennings County.
  7. Throw BNL in the mix too. Apparently them and New Albany are the only two teams in the conference that can put up points.
  8. Silver Creek up 19-0 on Floyd Central with ten minutes left
  9. New Albany beats Jennings County 48-6
  10. We’re definitely only winning one game this year and that’s next week
  11. It was actually 96 straight conference wins and 107 straight if you count the postseason.
  12. New Albany up 48-0 on Jennings County after three Silver Creek up 7-0 at the half on Floyd Central
  13. New Albany up 41-0 on Jennings County in the third quarter. Running clock. Last I saw, Silver Creek and Floyd Central were scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
  14. Were you guys able to stay pretty healthy after those two games?
  15. Still need picks from @mamasa
  16. Week 3 Predictions Columbus East (0-2) at Seymour (0-2): The Olympians finally get to play some teams without much size on the offensive and defensive lines. It’ll be interesting to see if the East defense can finally get some pressure on the QB and if the o-line can finally create some holes for the running attack to get going. It’s not a question of whether or not East can win, that’s a given. It’s a question of how much they beat the Owls by and how they look doing so. East by a lot. Jeffersonville (1-0) at BNL (0-2): Possibly by way of a week 1 COVID cancellation, the Red Devils remain the only unblemished team in the HHC. They had their way with cellar-dweller Seymour last week but now they’re playing a team in the middle of the pack in the conference. For the Stars, this looks to be their easiest opponent on paper thus far. It’s going to be interesting to see how they grow as the season goes on learning and executing a new system from a new coach. I think there’s a possibility they cause Jeff some problems, but I’ll play it safe and go with the Red Devils. Jennings County (0-2) at New Albany (0-2): Excluding their Floyd County rival, the Bulldogs have played the toughest schedule thus far so they’re really going to enjoy tonight’s game. As with East, this is going to be a confidence-boosting game and one where they can work on some things to get better while not really worrying about the result. The Panthers have the worst offense in the conference so the New Albany defense should look pretty good tonight for once. This could get ugly quickly. New Albany by a lot. Silver Creek (1-1) at Floyd Central (0-2): The Highlanders look to get the HHC its first non-conference win of the season. After two weeks of playing Kentucky powerhouses, they welcome the Dragons into town. This is a really hard game to predict because, at first glance, it looks as if Floyd Central doesn’t have the offensive capability to win this game. Then you remember who it was they’ve played the last two weeks and it makes sense. I keep going back and forth on this one but I’m going to go with Silver Creek in a tight one.
  17. Best senior banner photo ever?
  18. I still say the HHC is weaker.
  19. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 2): @Frozen Tundra 11/12 @Olympian06 11/12 @boilerfan87 9/12 @mamasa 9/12 @Fkfootball 8/12 @LC_Bears_04 8/12
  20. This was East’s first shutout loss since October 10, 2003 at Jeffersonville. The seven total points after the first two weeks is the lowest since 2003 as well.
  21. North wins 28-0 and takes a 26-25 lead in the all-time series.
  22. Who’s calling the offense now? Is it Vogel or does he still call the defense?
  23. 37 yard touchdown pass for North. 7-0 with 7:30 left in the half.
