The Red Devils have won two straight, although it was against Madison and Jennings County. The Stars have lost three straight but it was against stiff competition. I have nothing to go by here except my gut and my gut is telling me BNL squeaks one out. Floyd Central (6-2, 4-1 HHC) at Seymour (4-4, 2-3 HHC): The Highlanders are looking to wrap up sole possession of 2nd place. The Owls have lost four straight but none of those losses was by more than seven points. To add to the intrigue, Seymour has won its last two home games against Floyd Central. This may come down to which defense is more effective at stopping the run. I've got to think that will be Floyd Central but I've been surprised before. Regardless, I'll say Floyd Central gets its first win in Seymour since 2014. Jennings County (3-5, 1-4 HHC) at New Albany (3-5, 2-3 HHC): The Bulldogs have won two straight after starting 0-3 in HHC play. The Panthers are 0-4 against 5A opponents with no game being closer than 21 points. I believe both streaks will continue. I'll take New Albany by at least 21. Madison (1-7, 1-4 HHC) at Columbus East (6-2, 5-0 HHC): The worst team in the HHC plays the best team. Great timing for the Olympians who are needing the extra rest before opening up sectional play with Center Grove. The question going into this game isn't whether Madison will win, it's whether they'll score a touchdown. The Cubs haven't found the endzone against East since 2015.

Not true. They don't want anything to do with Conference Indiana as long as the Terre Haute schools are there. That's why they turned down the invitation two years ago.

Don't compare the East/North rivalry to those others. It's not even the same. There are two football schools in Bartholomew County so there's no possible way to duck each other. Plus, they're both in the same school district and have a working relationship with each other. Nobody in the community would support an end to the rivalry because it's a huge deal when one school beats the other in a sport, especially in football. The football game is one of the biggest events in the county every year. So, in conclusion, it'll never happen. Outsiders like you have no idea.

I don't recall North ever wanting to be in the HHC. They prefer playing the bigger name central Indiana schools, not the southeastern Indiana schools.

As great of a conference as that would be, a round-robin schedule wouldn't be preferred because it would keep Columbus East from playing Columbus North and that isn't acceptable.

Please explain. They look down on East and have mocked East for being in the "lowly" HHC.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rivalry will never end. Biggest gate of the season is the rivalry game and the city would riot if it ended. Plus, the high point of any Columbus North season is when they beat East. Why would you take that away from them?

Columbus North tried to get Columbus East in Conference Indiana. However, the travel to Terre Haute was a deal breaker. East tried to become the 8th member of the Mid State Conference but Perry Meridian was accepted instead. Hence, East is still in the HHC.

I don't know about you guys but, if we're not going to give the regular season any merit come tourney time (qualification system, seeding, better teams get home field, etc.), I'm not a fan of having a team play at the same school twice in a season. We've already seen BNL at Floyd Central. Why can't we get Floyd Central at BNL? All three of East's sectional games last year were just repeats of the regular season: vs Seymour, at New Albany, at BNL. I mean, it's not really a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but it would just be nice if we could go home/away on repeat match-ups.

New Albany beats Madison 40-0

Nevertheless, I'll put all my chips on the talents of Wenkers Wright to shoulder the load and carry the team to victory. Floyd Central gets the win. Columbus East (5-2, 4-0 HHC) at Seymour (4-3, 2-2 HHC): According to some writer with the Seymour Tribune, I should be concerned about a free-falling Owls team "steamrolling" my Olympians with their ground game. Apparently someone evaded a drug test before landing the job. Seems like the kind of journalist Bob Knight would've enjoyed taking questions from. But I digress. The Olympians are pretty banged up, although that's not an issue in conference play. Considering East has scored at least 42 points and has won by at least 26 points in the last 15 games against Seymour, I still fully expect them to "steamroll" Seymour. Jennings County (3-4, 1-3 HHC) at Jeffersonville (2-5, 2-2 HHC): This could be the HHC game of the week. The Panthers' pass-heavy offense and porous defense could make this a shootout. The Red Devils will have the talent advantage in this one but will they play a clean, smart game? We shall find out. I'll favor talent and go with Jeff though. New Albany (2-5, 1-3 HHC) at Madison (1-6, 1-3 HHC): The Bulldogs finally broke through last week and picked up their first HHC win of the season. I expect them to get two straight against a terrible Cubs team. Not much more to say about this one. The results speak for themselves. New Albany gets the W.

I know you don't want to crap on your hometown team and you want to be hopeful that you can win (nothing wrong with that), but this is completely asinine. All you have to do is look at scores in games against common opponents and you'll quickly find out Seymour isn't steamrolling anyone. Didn't realize the National Enquirer was now covering Indiana high school football. This is completely stupid.
