  1. Jeffersonville beats Madison 35-7. Floyd Central beats Jennings County 55-24.
  2. New Albany beats Seymour 20-17 and gets their first HHC win of the season.
  3. HHC Pick 'Em Standings: 1. @boilerfan87 31/35 (.886) 2. @Frozen Tundra 28/35 (.800) 3. @mamasa 20/27 (.741) 4. @starbacker 16/22 (.727) 5. @TIFootball 2/4 (.500) Week 7 Predictions Columbus East (4-2, 3-0 HHC) at Bedford North Lawrence (2-4, 2-1 HHC): The Stars hosted the Olympians twice last year and gave them a battle the first six quarters. This time, the trip to Bedford will be much quicker. East gets the blowout win. Floyd Central (4-2, 2-1 HHC) at Jennings County (3-3, 1-2 HHC): The Panthers have consecutive wins for the first time since 2015 but the Highlanders come into town looking to blow off some steam after last week's big loss in Columbus. It wouldn't surprise me if Jennings County keeps it close for a half but they won't be able to contain Wenkers Wright for too long. Floyd Central wins by at least four TDs. Jeffersonville (1-5, 1-2 HHC) at Madison (1-5, 1-2 HHC): The Cubs have given up 50+ points the last two weeks (at Jennings County and against 2A Mitchell). I don't care how disappointing or undisciplined the Red Devils are because it won't make a difference in this game. Jeff wins big. Seymour (4-2, 2-1 HHC) at New Albany (1-5, 0-3 HHC): After starting 4-0, the Owls have dropped two straight (both by six points or less). The Bulldogs have lost five straight with the 19 point deficit in week 3 against Jeff being the closest game. New Albany will eventually get its first HHC win of the season but I doubt it's this week. Seymour rebounds and gets the W.
  4. Jennings County's Jared Corya still leads the state in receiving yards. Found this quite interesting.
  5. Yes. They got it before last season.
  6. Sorry. I forgot about them. They still have grass.
  7. So that means Madison will eventually be the lone HHC member with a grass field
  8. Thank you for clarifying and correcting me! It's hard to keep all of the rules straight at various levels of the game.
  9. Yeah that rule always throws me off because it's different than the college and pro rules. Aside from personal foul penalties, no penalty (including pass interference) grants a first down unless the penalty yardage exceeds the yardage needed to get a first down.
  10. Jennings County beat Connersville 28-14. Brownstown Central beat Seymour 34-28. Mitchell beat Madison 52-20. Cathedral beat Jeffersonville 56-0. Apparently this was also the halftime score. Bloomington North beat New Albany 55-27.
  11. Bloomington North over New Albany Seymour over Brownstown Central Columbus East over Floyd Central Cathedral over Jeffersonville Jennings County over Connersville Madison over Mitchell Terra Haute South over BNL
  12. Looks like Indianapolis Herron based on what I'm seeing. They have 889 students which is more than what Angola has and Angola is in 4A in football.
  13. I say we create a new six team conference. New Palestine, Columbus East, Columbus North, Southport, Bloomington North, and Bloomington South. Maybe throw in one or two other teams. Helps relieve both HHCs from being beat on every year by New Palestine and Columbus East while the core-four Conference Indiana schools get better competition than what Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South can provide. Full disclosure: I'm only kidding but it's still fun to think about.
  14. No need. Any clip of Gomer Pyle gets an A+ from me.
  15. I really believe Justun Sharp is going to change things at Jennings County. They haven't had a coach ever come in with his attitude. Jerry Bland and Scott Buening are probably their best coaches in the last 25-30 years but even they weren't as invested at the youth level and trying to drive up interest in prospective players.
  16. As long as the draw doesn't put you on the same side of the bracket.
  17. 1. Columbus East 2. Floyd Central 3. BNL 4. Seymour 5. Jeffersonville 6. New Albany 7. Jennings County 8. Madison
  18. Oh my Lord. A Bubby Brister reference. Never thought I'd ever hear that name again.
  19. If anybody is interested, here's an article The Republic out of Columbus did on Jennings County coach Justun Sharp back in May after he was hired. Might have the best background of anyone to ever coach football there. http://www.therepublic.com/2019/05/16/former_north_assistant_to_lead_jennings_football/
  20. It's going to take time. Won't happen overnight. They've got the perfect guy for the job though. There's excitement surrounding the program again. The place was packed out. I haven't seen that many people there in years. Probably for a half. Like I said, they have so many two-way players that they tend to fizzle out in the second half. The more physical the opponent the quicker they tire out.
  21. -Jennings County topped 50 points tonight for the first time since their week 1 win against Batesville in 2011 when they tallied 51 points. Iyan Bass was the senior tailback on that team. -The 57 points they put up tonight was the most since 2010 when they put up 61 on Jeffersonville in a regular season-ending win. -The 30 point margin of victory is their most since 2014 when they defeated Greensburg in week 2 by a score of 43-7. That would be their only win of the season.
  22. The offense is very good. Tons of passing. The QB was deadly accurate when receivers were running verticals in one-on-one coverage. The defense isn't very good though. However, Madison made tons of mistakes tonight. Four interceptions and two lost fumbles by Madison. I'm pretty sure they had about a dozen fumbles total in this game as the center was doing a terrible job of snapping to the QB in shotgun formation. Jennings County tends to wear down in the second half due to all of their two-way players but Madison was basically giving them the ball with great field position in the second half with all of the turnovers. The momentum in this game shifted big time midway through the 3rd quarter. JC led 35-27 and Madison drove down the field to get themselves a 1st and goal from the 9. The Cubs went with a 5-wide formation. Madison had been killing JC with QB keepers that drive and there was an opportunity for big yards on the play had the QB taken it himself. However, he threw the ball into the endzone while backing up from one JC DL and the ball floated into the arms of a JC DB for the INT. JC drove down the field and scored to go up two scores and the wheels completely fell off for Madison afterwards. The route was on.
  23. Me: Checks current BNL football schedule. Then checks past BNL schedules. Notices that this "rivalry" hasn't been played since 2015. 😕
  24. HHC Pick 'Em Standings 1. @boilerfan87 22/24 (.917) 2. @Frozen Tundra 20/24 (.833) 3. @mamasa 11/16 (.688) 4. @starbacker 7/11 (.636) Week 5 Predictions Bedford North Lawrence (1-3, 1-1 HHC) at Seymour (4-0, 2-0 HHC): Seymour has been playing good football thus far. The Stars are short on experience and lacked inspiration last week in their upset loss to Madison. Something tells me BNL brings everything they've got this week but it still won't be enough. The Owls win it. Columbus East (2-2, 1-0 HHC) at New Albany (1-3, 0-2 HHC): The Bulldogs gave the Olympians two tough battles last year and nearly became the first HHC team since BNL in 2006 to beat East. No chance this year. East wins big. Jeffersonville (1-3, 1-1 HHC) at Floyd Central (3-1, 1-0 HHC): The question isn't whether or not the Highlanders will win. It's whether or not they can jump on the Red Devils early or if they wait until the second half again. Floyd Central wins it. Madison (1-3, 1-1 HHC) at Jennings County (1-3, 0-2 HHC): This is the 56th edition of the Railroad Rivalry and should be the best HHC game of the week. The Cubs just beat a BNL team that the Panthers lost to by 29 the week before. JC gave Seymour a battle for three quarters when the latter destroyed Madison the week before. Therefore, this game looks like a toss-up. Will the Panthers get their 30th win in the series or will the Cubs get their 27th win? My gut is telling me Jennings County gets the win.
