  1. 42 year career with his last 20 being at East. Career record of 330-143 and two state championships. Sixth all-time in wins in IHSAA history. Here’s the article http://www.therepublic.com/2020/11/18/gaddis-retiring-as-east-football-coach/
  2. Bob Gaddis has announced his retirement after 20 years at East and 42 years overall. He is the sixth winningest coach in Indiana history with a record of 330-143. As East heads into its 50th season of football, it will be looking for its third head coach.
  3. Wouldn’t matter. 1A is sitting at 62 teams so they can add a couple of schools without anyone having to bump up to 2A.
  4. Final HHC Pick ‘Em Standings: @boilerfan87 41/52 (.788) @Frozen Tundra 39/52 (.750) @mamasa 36/51 (.706) @starbacker 33/49 (.673) @Fkfootball 25/34 (.735) @Olympian06 8/11 (.727) Congrats to @boilerfan87 on another victory. Not sure if this is the second or third year in a row but I feel like you’re undefeated at this either way. Maybe we can actually give you some competition next year.
  5. Problem is, the HHC teams won’t be able to choose when they get to play their conference games starting next year. Someone will have an open week in week 3, someone will have one in week 4, someone will have one in week 5 and so on. Maybe some teams will have to play conference games starting in week 1 to try to find openings for other weeks in the schedule. It’ll be interesting to see how it works out. I hope nobody has any issues but it’s definitely going to make it tougher to schedule non-conference games.
  6. I disagree. There is going to be at least one non-conference game played every week now. Finding a quality opponent deep in the season while most conferences are in conference play isn’t going to be easy for every team, especially those down by the Ohio River. For example, Jeffersonville wasn’t able to find a week 6 replacement for Cathedral this year.
  7. Nobody is asking for it except Bloomington North “allegedly”.
  8. Like I said, it’s a rumor. Not sure if it’s true but the source is an assistant football coach with one of the HHC schools. Even if Bloomington North wants to join, the HHC would still have to approve. Personally, I think the HHC should just wait for Silver Creek to fill the spot.
  9. I would say SOME teams beat themselves, not all. All teams make mistakes though. I think it’s important not to confuse the two.
  10. Check IHSAAtv.org. It looks like all of the games are posted there.
  11. Castle should win easily. Castle would be a top two team in the Hoosier Hills Conference. Jeffersonville is having somewhat of a miracle run right now but that’s because they’ve been playing HHC teams not named Columbus East.
  12. Yeah they left after the 1982-1983 school year to join the South Central Conference. When the SCC died after the 1996-1997 school year, Bloomington North, along with three other members (Bloomington South, Columbus North, and Martinsville), helped form Conference Indiana.
  13. I think the door has to open somewhere first. They wouldn’t prefer to go independent. My understanding is that they want to make Conference Indiana work. However, I’m not sure the other schools are as committed. Bloomington North has already tried to leave for the Mid-State but was denied when Perry Meridian was chosen. Not sure how true it is but I’ve heard rumors Bloomington North is wanting to replace Madison as the eighth HHC team.
  14. The question is, is this an outlier or the norm?
  15. Columbus East was already offered a spot but declined. The Terre Haute schools were the dealbreaker.
  16. Is Southport truly happy or do they just not have any other options? I honestly don’t know but Conference Indiana used to have six Marion County schools. Decatur Central and Perry Meridian left for the Mid-State, Pike and Lawrence Central left for the MIC, and Franklin Central left for the HCC. Also, Martinsville was also in Conference Indiana and they left for the Mid-State. With other larger-enrollment Indy-area conferences like the MIC, HCC, and Mid-State being at a max capacity of eight schools each, Southport doesn’t have much choice. If Conference Indiana were to fall apart, one would have to think Southport would go independent unless some of the growing Indy area public schools decided to break off from their small-enrollment conferences and form a new one. This is just me spit-balling but I’d truly be curious to know what Southport thinks of its situation.
  17. Decatur Central left Conference Indiana for the Mid-State Conference in 2006. Not sure why they’d want to go back, especially considering Conference Indiana is weaker, unstable, and requires much more travel.
  18. Castle will win. They’re easily better than any Hoosier Hills Conference team aside from Columbus East.
  19. Jeffersonville at Castle Heck of a run Jeff is on right now. Seems like the humiliating 41-14 loss to Madison woke them up as they’ve now won four straight games. It’s their longest winning streak since 2014 when they began that season 7-0. The win at Floyd Central ten days ago snapped an eight game losing streak to the Highlanders dating back to 2014. The sectional title win three days ago was the first for Jeff since 2007 and their fifth sectional title overall. Now, Jeff attempts to win its first regional title ever when they play at Castle this Friday. It’s their first meeting since 2012 when Jeff lost there 50-29 in the sectional championship. Jeff has lost three straight to them. 2007 was their last win against the Knights. Hopefully the Red Devils have another upset in them.
  20. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 12): @boilerfan87 40/51 (.784) @Frozen Tundra 38/51 (.745) @mamasa 36/51 (.706) @starbacker 33/49 (.673) @Fkfootball 25/34 (.735) @Olympian06 8/11 (.727)
  21. I don’t mind it. It was a fun challenge. Unfortunately, we didn’t have two of our best teams during these two years in 6A. Seems to be how it works out. The group of kids that get you bumped up are gone and you end up with a weaker team in the newer class for the two year cycle. But, at least it showed us what it takes to be on a 6A championship level.
  22. I missed the third dad. I knew dad 2 argued with dad 3 after dad 1 left for a seat at the far end of the bleachers, but I didn’t realize dad 2 and dad 3 was nearly a fight too.
