Twin Safeties on Punt Return

Question

Posted

It is somewhat unusual these days to see twin safeties on a punt return, but it does happen. Our Manual does not address B positioning in the event there are twins back there. But I suspect it will next year. 😉 As the IFOA Training Video #1 that was distributed this morning says, the better practice in the event of twin safeties is for the B to split them. Once the ball is in the air, adjust your position to have an angle. Don’t allow yourself to get straightlined by the returner catching the ball.

Thanks posting on this, Bob. If we get observed this year, is this something all observers will be made aware of?

That’s the plan.
