This is the game of the week in the SAC. Two programs that took a beating in the offseason by fans and posters. North Side was dubbed as a "train wreck" of a program by many and Dwenger was left for dead as a program on a downward spiral. Personally, I like the passion Ben Johnson has for his program. His first three years have been a complete up and down yoyo, but the passion is there nonetheless. Dwenger has a guy who led the team to a 35-5 record his first three seasons, but after two mediocre seasons, some (I admit taking part) have dubbed the Saints as a program on a downward spiral.

Fast forward to 2024. North Side opens with an impressive win over Northridge and shows some fight against 6A power Lawrence North. Dwenger goes toe to toe with the second best team in Ohio before succumbing in the second half by double digits. What Brownsburg did to the Saints is no different than what Brownsburg would do to 95% of all Indiana high school football teams.

I think both of these teams have Top 10 potential in their respective classes. Hoping to see this one in person. I think the Saints prevail.

I do understand your thoughts on Coach Johnson's passion. Most people know its nearly impossible to build something up at a FWCS not name Snider. He's does a lot for those kids and puts in the work. My main issue is that sometimes it seems that passion is a little misguided. For the last 3 years North has had a boatload of talent, but they seemed to lack good schemes and adjustments as well as discipline.

On the flip side of that I've been in the BD bleachers enough over the last few years to hear the complaints about Coach Garrett and his lack of discipline and the "decline" of the Saints program, which I find terribly overblown.

I agree that this should be a great game that comes down to one score!

Train wreck falls inadequately short of describing the dumpster fire of North Side’s program. Having passion is great, not having self discipline and allowing thuggery type behavior from your team is not. That is North Side. Root for them at your own peril.

Dwenger is a different story. Their issue in my opinion lies in their feeder programs not producing as they have in the past and also the really good players they are producing are bailing on Dwenger and going to Snider and Luers. I think Garrett is a good coach, but there is a disconnect somewhere with the kids, the parents, and administration. If Dwenger loses tonight to North Side, I believe that seals the coaching fate for Garrett at Dwenger. They will lose to Carroll and most likely Homestead and would be 0-5 to start the season. They would still have Snider and Luers to deal with as well so you are looking at 2-7 heading to sectional play. Not a good look for them. I do think they will get to 3-6, but not much of a difference especially at a tradition rich school like Dwenger

Well, the Saints did rumble with Moeller for the better part of 2 1/2 quarters. I guess time will tell.
