What’s the difference between this poll and the AP media poll? I thought these were voted on by the same people.

Different polls. There may be some overlap, but long story short, the Gannett papers nationally withdrew from AP. This year, Kyle Neddenriep began the USA Today poll and has hand-picked a statewide group of 18 voters (full disclosure: I am one of them). I personally know most, and they're well-spread among the state and all pretty knowledgeable. It's made up of broadcasters and newspaper types.

I don't know who is on the AP poll board, but they're generally sports editors/HS sports reporters at the (dwindling number of) AP member papers.

Thanks for the explanation. When John Harrell’s site showed three polls listed for each classification, I was confused. I’d been meaning to ask about this so I’m glad you posted this topic.

Triton Central 3-2, still ranked 7th, Monrovia 4-1, the 1 loss by 2pt on the road against Linton, Monrovia dominates Triton Central was up 35-7 and gave up 2 late garbage TD's yet TC is still ranked and Monrovia isn't? I'm no expert but it doesn't make any sense to me.

Elkhart being ranked is ridiculous.  They haven't beaten anybody to warrant a ranking.  Also, Fishers should be ranked ahead of HSE.

Couldn’t agree more
