I only met Joe in person two times, but he was so very kind to me and to my student broadcasters. While he will be remembered, and rightly so, for his contributions to the Indiana Hoosiers basketball and football broadcasts, I'll also remember Joe for being a legendary broadcaster of high school sports. He will very much be missed by so many. Rest in Peace, Joe. Demographics 1 Quote
tango Posted Tuesday at 03:00 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:00 PM Well said. I always enjoyed his segments on IU broadcasts. Quote
Coach Dowell Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Imitation is Flattery Per Joe Smith. He told me once I should go on the air. I give a "Well Don Let Me Tell Ya!" about once a week. I have known Joe all my life. He called ball games when I was in high school. He had me on with "Balls and Strikes" once and he called a number of games as a coach. When the South Siders, Edgewood, or Bloomington North came to town, I would always come out for pregame early so I could make the climb to the press box to say hello and catch up. Rest In Peace my friend! And Let Me Tell You! Gone But Never Forgotten! Your Friend MD Quote
