Guest DT
https://tulsaworld.com/sports/high-school/high-school-football-week-1s-top-games----bixby-faces-another-6ai-power/article_5726d9d6-ebbd-11ea-a432-a733585f678b.html Jenks and Tulsa Union have been the Ben Davis and Warren Central of OK HS Football for the past 20 years. Many will recall that former WC and IMG HC Kevin Wright spent a year on the Union sidelines as HC before uncermoniously being run out of town. Its interesting to see now how two suburban collar schools, Broken Arrow and Bixby, have encroached on the superpowers and are considered to be on near equal footing, much like Carmel and Center Grove have done here in Indiana. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/highschool/2020/09/01/high-school-football-rankings-national-super-25/5672196002/ Bixby, as Center Grove has done in Indiana, might have surpassed both Jenks and Union as the school has garnered itself the #23 National Ranking. Both schools use a 6 Class system. Oklahoma also plays 8 man, while Indiana does not, and never will. http://www.ossaa.net/docs/2018-19/Classifications/FB_2018-19_1819Classifications.pdf
jets
The same could probably be said to Snider on a smaller scale with Homestead and Carrol becoming more dominant?? Suburban powers really shouldn’t be all that surprising when you break down the socioeconomics of it all. Not that that’s everything- but it’s a good starting point. People don’t wanna live in “the City” anymore...the American Dream is moving out to that culdasec in “every townUSA” The Ben Davis and Warren’s of the world can/will still be successful...but you really need that dominant HC personality walking those hallways to bring it all together- lots of challenges to face. IMHO What happened to the cries of gentrification in downtown Indy? When I left in 2016, I had many friends in their upper 20s and lower 30s living in areas between the circle and Broad Ripple... unthinkable even 15 years ago. I imagine the median household income for Marion County residents has risen over the past 20 years.
