Irishman Posted May 20 Posted May 20 As I have said many times, this is unsustainable. It’s not just the drop in birth rates. The cost to compete in D1 is skyrocketing uncontrollably. Quote
Irishman Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Posting this here because it is the same kind of thing we are seeing with agents for college athletes. It's a predatory mindset. Adults are taking advantage of kids who are 17-18 years old. Adults who know that you can flass a boatload of money in front of them and they will jump at the chance. People do not fully develop the frontal lobe of their brain where decision making takes place for people of our ages until the ages of 22-25. The adults involved know this. And they are preying on these teenagers. Agents for college athletes are taking cuts as high as 30%. But all a kid sees is what his/her take will be. The NFL may have the strictest limits on the behavior of agents. For NFL salaries, agents are capped at no more than 4% of a player contract. They can take higher percentages of endorsement money though. 1 Quote
PDB26 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 On 4/8/2026 at 2:10 PM, Coach Nowlin said: they have a system set up differently from my understanding. something like they can have player drafted by NHL, but they can still play College until they use up their 4 years or something like that Looks like the hockey coaches prevailed (mostly) and the rule has been amended to five years of eligibility from the time of enrollment provided an athlete is enrolled by the academic year following their 19th birthday. 1 Quote
