Can a punter with a lineman number attempt a pass in a fake punt scenario? Faced a punter # 66, we asked 2 separate crews and neither was sure.

There are no restrictions on which player can throw a legal forward pass. Any player on offense can do so on any play.

The fact that you asked 2 different crews and neither was sure is disappointing. This is pretty fundamental stuff.

They told us that any linemen cannot catch a pass if said linemen are in the backfield. Can run though.

Players numbered 50-79 are ineligible to catch a forward pass wherever they are lined up.
