  4. SF wonders where the money Hamas was promising actually came from........IDK? Anyone? Hmmm - I know the US (under the Biden Administration) sure wouldn't be used to fund a terrorist group......Right? https://nypost.com/2023/10/24/news/hamas-terrorists-promised-10000-apartment-for-bringing-back-hostages/ The Hamas terrorists who attacked Israel were promised $10,000 and an apartment if they captured hostages and brought them back to Gaza, one of the jihadists revealed in an interrogation video. “In Gaza, whoever brings a hostage gets a grant – an apartment and $10,000,” the terrorist says in footage released by Israel’s security agency Shin Bet, the Jerusalem Post reported. “The instructions were to kidnap elderly women and children … clear the houses and kidnap as many prisoners as possible,” he tells the interrogator.

"I just don't understand why major corporations are pulling their stores out of our neighborhoods where we sooooo desperately need them" - (Typical liberal person's question - normally asked while carrying a "defund the police" sign) https://nypost.com/2023/10/23/news/police-release-footage-of-looting-at-7-eleven-store-in-california-suspects-sought/ A mob of looters can be seen ransacking a 7-Eleven convenience store just outside Sacramento in a shocking new video released by police. In the chaotic video, dozens of rowdy shoplifters run amok inside the store, entering and exiting through a smashed plate-glass window while carrying cases of beer and cigarette cartons. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the fracas began after a nearby “sideshow” — an unsanctioned, illegal gathering where groups of drivers take over parking lots or even busy public roadways to perform dangerous automotive stunts. Cops arrived approximately five minutes after being called, but by the time they got there, the looters were already long gone.
  6. Pro-Hamas protesters stormed a Senate office building, demanding a ceasefire in the Middle East. They obstructed lawmakers on their way to work. They prevented media reports from taking place. It was an insurrection. Not a single one of those rioters will be placed in solitary confinement by Joe Biden’s DOJ. They won’t face 20-year prison sentences. Just like the women who stormed Capitol buildings during the Kavanaugh hearings, none of these pro-Hamas degenerates will face any consequences whatsoever. That’s because they didn’t mock the people in power. They didn’t put their feet up on Nancy Pelosi’s desk. They didn’t smile while parading Pelosi’s lectern around the Capitol building. So in the eyes of the Biden DOJ, they’re not a threat. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/10/19/israel-hamas-protesters-swarm-house-buidling-washington-arrests/71237857007/ Protesters with Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow were detained on Capitol Hill while calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. They've since been ticketed and released. U.S. House and Senate office buildings are open to the public but protests are forbidden in congressional buildings.
  7. So - the Biden administration seemed OK to put this person into the CIS even though they knew her background. (yes - they knew her background. You get a position like this without a background check) Thanks Biden. SF is left to wonder - how many terrorists was she able to let into the country? Unless you think someone like her is actually trustworthy...... Kinda like BLM hiring someone with a Nazi affiliation...... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12647395/DHS-Nejwa-Ali-citizenship-leave-praising-hamas-israel-war.html A Department of Homeland Security officer was put on leave after praising Hamas and sharing extremist content on social media - including one post where she wrote, 'F*** Israel ... we are ready for your downfall.' Nejwa Ali, 36, who joined the US Citizenship and Immigration Services in 2019 and held the position of an asylum officer, was placed on leave on Wednesday, following the revelation of her controversial history. She worked at assisting asylum seekers through the immigration process, before moving to Homeland Security earlier this year. Along with years of alarming social media posts, it was also revealed that she previously served as a spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization delegation in the US - a group once led by Yasser Arafat - which has been called a terrorist organization by US officials. In one recent post, Ali shared a disturbing image featuring paragliders armed with AK-47s with the caption 'Free Palestine,' glorifying the terrorists responsible for killing over 1,400 in Israel. The Daily Wire exposed years of concerning posts made by Ali, including one in which she expressed disdain for what she referred to as 'Israeli and American privilege.' It's unclear how Ali was hired in the first place in government roles and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) given her alarming previous posts and ties to the PLO. 'USCIS strongly condemns antisemitism and the use of violent rhetoric in any form,' spokesperson Matthew Bourke told Newsweek. 'USCIS employees are held to high ethical standards both on and off duty, including their presence on social media. Any violation of these standards is taken seriously by the agency.' The Daily Wire reached Ali who angrily replied when asked about her past. 'That's none of your f****** business. Mind your business before I call the police. If I were you I'd respectfully hang up the phone right now,' she reportedly told the outlet. In her posts, Ali claimed all Israelis should be held accountable for their government's actions if they do not condemn Israel. 'Israeli, American privilege is disgusting. When Israelis acknowledge the government and military are solely responsible for the attack. Period,' she wrote. 'I hold every Israeli accountable for their governments actions, IF they do not speak against Israel.' Additionally, on October 9, Ali shared a post on Facebook titled 'How Nejwa wakes up,' along with a video captioned 'F*** Israel and any Jew that supports Israel.' She featured a photo that declared, 'A nation that has nothing but Allah has everything it will ever need,' alongside an anti-Semitic caricature of a Jewish nose. Along with years of alarming social media posts, it was also revealed that she previously served as a spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization delegation in the US - a group once led by Yasser Arafat - which has been called a terrorist organization by US officials Prior to her current position, Ali worked as a public affairs officer for the Palestinian Delegation to the US in 2016 and 2017, according to her LinkedIn profile. The delegation served as the 'PLO office in DC', its website says. The Palestine Liberation Organization was once declared a terrorist group by various administrations. It was led by Yasser Arafat who became the face of the effort for Palestinian freedom for decades. When the DC PLO office was expelled by the Trump administration, Ali secured a job at DHS as an 'Asylum Officer,' where she was responsible for 'applying immigration laws and regulations to asylum applications.' This year, she began working as an Adjudication Officer for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, where she was tasked 'analyze new or amended legislation and policy, prepare written reports of findings, and review and make determinations on cases for immigration benefits.' Ali's social media, including her Instagram, 'Falastine Mi Amor,' appears to have been deleted.

Oh - wait....Yep, it's Trump's fault - he talked to the Russians back in 2017 about an ISIS plot....... https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-israel-intel-russia-hamas-attack-1833094?fbclid=IwAR1q_YSAucC9OlFCUlFlvj2WUgJ2Hu2vUTcyEi6vuBnz5cuL1ICDMHXskNg Donald Trump's sharing of alleged classified intelligence to Russian officials in the White House has come under scrutiny amid a large-scale attack by the Hamas Islamist military group against Israel. In May 2017, the former president defended his actions after he was found to have discussed sensitive details about an alleged Islamic State (ISIS) plot with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office. Trump said he had an absolute right to do so. The intel was said to have been provided to the U.S. from Israel.
  11. Truthfully, the US and the rest of the world just needs to GTFO of the way of Israel. Let them handle their terrorist enemies in their own way. If this were the US and these sick bastards did this - beheaded babies - I would expect the US to nuke em till they glow and shoot em in the dark. This wasn't war.
  12. A perfect example what comes of trusting Islamic terrorists enough to incentivise peace and human rights concessions by Israel and the West. Iran and Islamic radicals do not want peace, money or land. They were given that and now have squandered the opportunity by utilizing it all to indiscriminately kill Jews. This is another skirmish in a war that has been waging since BC against the Jews. Amidror, chairman of the National Security Council from April 2011-November 2013 and now senior fellow with the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, said some of Israel's allies had been saying that Hamas had acquired "more responsibility." "We stupidly began to believe that it was true," he said. "So, we made a mistake. We are not going to make this mistake again and we will destroy Hamas, slowly but surely." https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-767474 How Israel was duped as Hamas planned devastating assault "This is our 9/11," said a spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces. "They got us." By REUTERS OCTOBER 10, 2023 01:10 Updated: OCTOBER 10, 2023 02:20 A careful campaign of deception ensured Israel was caught off guard when Hamas launched its devastating attack, enabling a force using bulldozers, hang gliders and motorbikes to take on the Middle East's most powerful army. Saturday's assault, the worst breach in Israel's defenses since Arab armies waged war in 1973, followed two years of subterfuge by Hamas that involved keeping its military plans under wraps and convincing Israel it did not want a fight. While Israel was led to believe it was containing a war-weary Hamas by providing economic incentives to Gazan workers, the group's fighters were being trained and drilled, often in plain sight, a source close to Hamas said. This source provided many of the details for the account of the attack and its buildup that has been pieced together by Reuters. Three sources within Israel's security establishment, who like others asked not to be identified, also contributed to this account. "Hamas gave Israel the impression that it was not ready for a fight," said the source close to Hamas, describing plans for the most startling assault since the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago when Egypt and Syria surprised Israel and made it fight for its survival. "Hamas used an unprecedented intelligence tactic to mislead Israel over the last months, by giving a public impression that it was not willing to go into a fight or confrontation with Israel while preparing for this massive operation," the source said. Israel concedes it was caught off guard by an attack timed to coincide with the Jewish Sabbath and a religious holiday. Hamas fighters stormed into Israeli towns, killing at least 900 Israelis and abducting dozens. Israel has killed more than 400 Palestinians in its retaliation on Gaza since then. "This is our 9/11," said Major Nir Dinar, spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces. "They got us." "They surprised us and they came fast from many spots - both from the air and the ground and the sea." Osama Hamdan, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, told Reuters the attack showed Palestinians had the will to achieve their goals "regardless of Israel's military power and capabilities." 'They ran riot' In one of the most striking elements of their preparations, Hamas constructed a mock Israeli settlement in Gaza where they practiced a military landing and trained to storm it, the source close to Hamas said, adding they even made videos of the maneuvers. "Israel surely saw them but they were convinced that Hamas wasn't keen on getting into a confrontation," the source said. Meanwhile, Hamas sought to convince Israel it cared more about ensuring that workers in Gaza, a narrow strip of land with more than two million residents, had access to jobs across the border and had no interest in starting a new war. "Hamas was able to build a whole image that it was not ready for a military adventure against Israel," the source said. Since a 2021 war with Hamas, Israel has sought to provide a basic level of economic stability in Gaza by offering incentives including thousands of permits so Gazans can work in Israel or the West Bank, where salaries in construction, agriculture or service jobs can be 10 times the level of pay in Gaza. "We believed that the fact that they were coming in to work and bringing money into Gaza would create a certain level of calm. We were wrong," another Israeli army spokesperson said. An Israeli security source acknowledged Israel's security services were duped by Hamas. "They caused us to think they wanted money," the source said. "And all the time they were involved in exercises/drills until they ran riot." As part of its subterfuge in the past two years, Hamas refrained from military operations against Israel, even as another Gaza-based Islamist armed group known as Islamic Jihad launched a series of its own assaults or rocket attacks. No inkling The restraint shown by Hamas drew public criticism from some supporters, again aimed at building an impression that Hamas had economic concerns not a new war on its mind, the source said. In the West Bank, controlled by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah group, there were those who mocked Hamas for going quiet. In one Fatah statement published in June 2022, the group accused Hamas leaders of fleeing to Arab capitals to live in "luxurious hotels and villas" leaving their people to poverty in Gaza. A second Israeli security source said there was a period when Israel believed the movement's leader in Gaza, Yahya Al-Sinwar, was preoccupied with managing Gaza "rather than killing Jews." At the same time, Israel turned its focus away from Hamas as it pushed for a deal to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia, he added. Israel has long prided itself on its ability to infiltrate and monitor Islamist groups. As a consequence, the source close to Hamas said, a crucial part of the plan was to avoid leaks. Many Hamas leaders were unaware of the plans and, while training, the 1,000 fighters deployed in the assault had no inkling of the exact purpose of the exercises, the source added. When the day came, the operation was divided into four parts, the Hamas source said, describing the various elements. The first move was a barrage of 3,000 rockets fired from Gaza that coincided with incursions by fighters who flew hang gliders, or motorized paragliders, over the border, the source said. Israel has previously said 2,500 rockets were fired at first. Once the fighters on hang-gliders were on the ground, they secured the terrain so an elite commando unit could storm the fortified electronic and cement wall built by Israel to prevent infiltration. The fighters used explosives to breach the barriers and then sped across on motorbikes. Bulldozers widened the gaps and more fighters entered in four-wheel drives, scenes that witnesses described. 'Huge failure' A commando unit attacked the Israeli army's southern Gaza headquarters and jammed its communications, preventing personnel from calling commanders or each other, the source said. The final part involved moving hostages to Gaza, mostly achieved early in the attack, the source close to Hamas said. In one well-publicized hostage taking, fighters abducted party-goers fleeing a rave near the kibbutz of Re'im near Gaza. Social media footage showed dozens of people running through fields and on a road as gunshots were heard. "How could this party happen this close (to Gaza)?" the Israeli security source said. The Israeli security source said Israeli troops were below full strength in the south near Gaza because some had been redeployed to the West Bank to protect Israeli settlers following a surge of violence between them and Palestinian militants. "They (Hamas) exploited that," the source said. Dennis Ross, a former Middle East negotiator who is now at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said Israel had been distracted by violence in the West Bank, leading to a "thin, under-prepared presence in the south." "Hamas probably succeeded beyond their expectation. Now they will have to deal with an Israel determined to decimate them," he said. Retired General Yaakov Amidror, a former national security adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told reporters on Sunday the assault represented "a huge failure of the intelligence system and the military apparatus in the south." Amidror, chairman of the National Security Council from April 2011-November 2013 and now senior fellow with the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, said some of Israel's allies had been saying that Hamas had acquired "more responsibility." "We stupidly began to believe that it was true," he said. "So, we made a mistake. We are not going to make this mistake again and we will destroy Hamas, slowly but surely."

  14. Uncle Joe this weekend - Are you telling me that Hezbollah and Hamas are terrorist organizations, not countries? And Iran ain't our friends? https://nypost.com/2023/10/08/failed-foreign-policy-gave-terror-the-element-of-surprise-agencies-blinded-by-joes-fiascos/ The weekend’s depraved attack by Iran-sponsored Hamas terrorists on Israel reportedly blindsided US and Israeli intelligence. How could that be? Any postmortem of what went wrong has to include: The Biden administration’s preoccupation with its diabolical Iran nuclear deal, the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action launched by the Obama administration, scrapped by Trump’s, and reanimated by President Biden and his Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The recent bust of an Iranian spy ring said to reach into the highest levels of the State Department and the Pentagon. The crackdown on anti-Iranian dissident group, MEK, in Albania in June. 1. APPEASEMENT: The same Biden-Blinken brain trust responsible for the debacle in Afghanistan has done nothing but appease the terrorist regime in Tehran since day one. They just released an additional $6 billion to Iran, have eased off on sanctions enforcement, pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into Gaza and betrayed Iranian dissidents, all to curry favor with Tehran. There are inadvertent favors, too, like the US weapons left behind in Afghanistan which found their way to Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, according to a Newsweek report in June. Biden also has struggled to hide his disdain for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose government he has called “extremist.” Administration flacks insisted over the weekend that the $6 billion returned to Iran was only to be used for “humanitarian purposes and medicine” and was strictly monitored. Sure. That’s not what Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi told NBC’s Lester Holt last month. “This money belongs to the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Raisi, “and naturally we will decide to spend it wherever we need it.” Every dollar of the $6 billion Iran spends domestically on “medicine” frees another dollar to give to terrorist proxies like Hamas. 2. SPY RING: The Biden administration’s hand-picked, virulently anti-Israel Iran envoy Robert Malley was quietly removed without pay in June and had his security clearance suspended pending an investigation by the FBI for security breaches. The State Department has been tight-lipped about the scandal, but Lee Smith wrote in Tablet last week that Malley allegedly had helped “fund, support, and direct an Iranian intelligence operation designed to influence the United States and allied governments” and helped to infiltrate an Iranian agent of influence “into some of the most sensitive positions in the US government — first at the State Department and now the Pentagon.” The reporting is based on thousands of emails between Iranian diplomats and analysts obtained by Iran International, a London-based émigré opposition media outlet, and shared with Semafor. Malley previously was the Obama administration’s top negotiator on the initial 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. One of Biden’s first actions upon becoming president was to name Malley as his special envoy for Iran. What effect did Malley’s alleged activities on behalf of Iran have on US intelligence capabilities going into Saturday’s attack on Israel? 3. MEK RAID: On June 20, the Albanian government raided the headquarters of the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq or MEK, the exiled Iranian opposition group that previously had been resettled in Albania from Iraq under the protection of the United States government. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Vice President Mike Pence were among the MEK’s most high-profile supporters in the Trump administration. But it seems that US protection was withdrawn last November, when the State Department declared that “the United States does not see the MEK as a viable democratic opposition movement that is representative of the Iranian people.” Malley was quickly fingered as being behind the about-face by a bipartisan group of 23 high-profile former US lawmakers, and pro-Israel intellectuals, including former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Sen. Joe Lieberman and Professor Alan Dershowitz, who issued a statement denouncing the State Department’s disavowal of the MEK. They criticized Malley for what they described as a “flagrant betrayal” of the Iranian people: “Desperate to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), US Envoy Robert Malley has sought to appease the Iranian government by publicly discrediting one of the regime’s primary opposition groups. . . . What further acts of appeasement does Mr. Malley intend to offer to get his Iranian counterparts back to the negotiating table?” Good question. ‘A terrible betrayal’ Soon after the MEK raid, former Albanian president Sali Berisha, a thorn in the side of the Albanian government, told me it was “a terrible betrayal” of the Iranian resistance by Biden-backed Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, an intimate of Alex Soros. The ramifications for dissidents inside Iran were catastrophic. Berisha pointed to the 230 MEK computers seized by Albanian authorities during the raid which he claimed were handed over to the Iranians. While Albanian police denied Berisha’s claims, Iranian authorities appeared to confirm them. Two weeks after the raid, Iran’s Information Council head, Sepehr Khalaji, boasted on X (formerly Twitter), that “some of the hard drives and PC towers have arrived. [We are] currently retrieving the data [and] results so far are encouraging.” Khalaji’s boast followed a statement from Iran’s intelligence ministry thanking Albanian authorities for raiding the MEK camp and announcing that it had arrested four people in northern Iran allegedly linked to the MEK, and had identified another alleged MEK operative in Tehran. The MEK’s network of dissidents in Iran had just had their cover blown, less than four months before Hamas’ attack on Israel. How much damage was done to Israel and US intelligence gathering capabilities in Iran? Any honest postmortem will have to include a damning judgment of the bumbling fools who currently control US foreign policy.
  15. This just gets sillier..... Joe Biden - 2020 Election - “there will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration” 2023 - President Biden said Thursday that he “can’t stop” construction of new sections of the US-Mexico border wall because Congress wouldn’t rescind spending on it — despite his Homeland Security secretary waiving 26 federal laws to restart former President Donald Trump’s pet project amid record-breaking illegal immigration. So, if he really believes the wall is not effective, he is in direct contradiction with his DHS Chief.......and his Deptartment of Homeland Security...... Kinda reminiscent of George HW Bush & his "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge.....IDK https://nypost.com/2023/10/05/biden-says-he-cant-stop-border-wall-construction-blames-congress/ WASHINGTON — President Biden said Thursday that he “can’t stop” construction of new sections of the US-Mexico border wall because Congress wouldn’t rescind spending on it — despite his Homeland Security secretary waiving 26 federal laws to restart former President Donald Trump’s pet project amid record-breaking illegal immigration. “The money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to reappropriate, to redirect that money. They didn’t. They wouldn’t,” Biden told reporters in the Oval Office. “In the meantime, there’s nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what it was appropriated for. I can’t stop that,” he insisted. Asked if he thought the border wall was effective, the president replied, “No.” Biden’s answer contradicted DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas, who wrote Wednesday in a document justifying the wall expansion that “there is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries.” “The United States Border Patrol’s (Border Patrol) Rio Grande Valley Sector is an area of ‘high illegal entry,'” explained Mayorkas, who added: “Therefore, I must use my authority … to install additional physical barriers and roads in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday evaded numerous reporter questions about the inconsistency of Mayorkas saying the wall was needed to halt illegal immigration and Biden saying it was not necessary. Biden said as a candidate in 2020 that “there will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration” and halted barrier construction shortly after taking office in January 2021. However, the Biden administration previously authorized some wall construction, including last year to close four gaps in the border wall near Yuma, Ariz., which had seen large flows of migrants. The administration said Wednesday it was bypassing the measures — including the Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and Endangered Species Act — to fast-track construction of new sections of border wall along Texas’ border with Mexico, with Mayorkas saying in his memo he had “sole discretion” to do so. The waivers streamline a process of reviews and potential litigation to speed along the project, which will consist of about 20 miles of additional wall in Starr County along the Rio Grande in South Texas. The funding for the new construction was approved by Congress in 2019. Biden restarted Trump’s wall after about 233,000 migrants were detained for illegally entering the US in August — more than had crossed in already elevated waves in August 2021 and August 2022. An ABC News poll last month found that Biden has just 23% approval from the public on his handling of immigration and the border, making it a major political liability going into his expected rematch against Trump next year. Fiscal year 2023, which ended Sept. 30, is on track to break all annual records of illegal immigration, with more than 2.2 million apprehensions already recorded. Statistics for September have yet to be released. Fiscal 2022 had 2.38 million Southwest border detentions, up dramatically from 1.73 million the year prior, the first of the border surge under Biden, according to Customs and Border Protection data.

  18. So apparently building a border wall is no longer racist? Maybe DJT had the right idea? No, can't be, the border crisis is still Trump's fault......somehow.....and Biden is going to fix it...... https://apnews.com/article/border-wall-biden-immigration-texas-rio-grande-147d7ab497e6991e9ea929242f21ceb2 McALLEN, Texas (AP) — The Biden administration announced it waived 26 federal laws in South Texas to allow border wall construction on Wednesday, marking the administration’s first use of a sweeping executive power employed often during the Trump presidency. The Department of Homeland Security posted the announcement on the U.S. Federal Registry with few details outlining the construction in Starr County, Texas, which is part of a busy Border Patrol sector seeing “high illegal entry.” According to government data, about 245,000 illegal entries have been recorded so far this fiscal year in the Rio Grande Valley Sector which contains 21 counties. “There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” Alejandro Mayorkas, the DHS secretary, stated in the notice. The Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and Endangered Species Act were some of the federal laws waived by DHS to make way for construction that will use funds from a congressional appropriation in 2019 for border wall construction. The waivers avoid time-consuming reviews and lawsuits challenging violation of environmental laws. Although no maps were provided in the announcement, CBP announced the project in June and began gathering public comments in August when it shared a map of the additional construction that can add up to 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the existing border barrier system in the area. Starr County Judge Eloy Vera said it will start south of the Falcon Dam and go past Salineño, Texas. “The other concern that we have is that area is highly erosive. There’s a lot of arroyos,” Eloy Vera, the county judge said, pointing out the creeks cutting through the ranchland and leading into the river. Concern is shared with environmental advocates who say structures will run through public lands, habitats of endangered plants and species like the Ocelot, a spotted wild cat. “A plan to build a wall through will bulldoze an impermeable barrier straight through the heart of that habitat. It will stop wildlife migrations dead in their tracks. It will destroy a huge amount of wildlife refuge land. And it’s a horrific step backwards for the borderlands,” Laiken Jordahl, a southwest conservation advocate for the Center for Biological Diversity, said Wednesday afternoon. During the Trump administration, about 450 miles (724 kilometers) of barriers were built along the southwest border between 2017 and January 2021. Texas Governor Greg Abbott renewed those efforts after the Biden administration halted them at the start of his presidency. The DHS decision on Wednesday contrasts the Biden administration’s posturing when a proclamation to end the construction on Jan. 20, 2021, stated, “building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution.” In a statement Wednesday, CBP said the project is consistent with that 2021 proclamation. “Congress appropriated fiscal year 2019 funds for the construction of border barrier in the Rio Grande Valley, and DHS is required to use those funds for their appropriated purpose,” the statement said. “CBP remains committed to protecting the nation’s cultural and natural resources and will implement sound environmental practices as part of the project covered by this waiver.” The announcement prompted political debate by the Democratic administration facing an increase of migrants entering through the southern border in recent months, including thousands who entered the U.S. through Eagle Pass at the end of September. “A border wall is a 14th century solution to a 21st century problem. It will not bolster border security in Starr County,” U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar said in a statement. “I continue to stand against the wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars on an ineffective border wall.” Political proponents of the border wall said the waivers should be used as a launching pad for a shift in policy. “After years of denying that a border wall and other physical barriers are effective, the DHS announcement represents a sea change in the administration’s thinking: A secure wall is an effective tool for maintaining control of our borders,” Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, said in a statement. “Having made that concession, the administration needs to immediately begin construction of wall across the border to prevent the illegal traffic from simply moving to other areas of the border.”
  19. At what point is it "fraud" if the banks he "defrauded" made money? This case is only being brought to distract from the upcoming election.....The real estate game is played this way all the time. If he gets jail time over this, then every real estate developer that lists properties higher than the actual worth (which is everyone of them) deserves jail as well. Don't stop there, get the auto manufacturers who set very unrealistic MSRP's that dealers utilize........ https://nypost.com/2023/10/02/judge-implores-media-to-stop-saying-he-valued-mar-a-lago-at-18m/ The Manhattan judge deciding Donald Trump’s fate at his civil fraud trial on Monday stood by the $18 million valuation of the former president’s sprawling Mar-a-Lago estate — despite real estate experts blasting the estimate as “utterly delusional.” Justice Arthur Engoron again rejected Trump’s claims that Mar-a-Lago is worth $1 billion in favor of the much-lower valuation issued by local Florida officials. However, Engoron implored the media to stop reporting that he’d been the one to value the golf club and resort at $18 million — the low-end of a determination made by the Palm Beach assessor that has left many real estate industry insiders perplexed. One prominent Palm Beach real estate broker labeled the valuation as “utterly delusional” to The Post. “Please, press, stop saying that I valued it at $18 million,” Engoron pleaded, as trial kicked off in Manhattan Supreme Court in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million lawsuit against the former president, the Trump Organization and sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. The judge interjected the comment as Trump lawyer Alina Habba had been repeating during her opening remarks that the Palm Beach estate would sell for roughly $1 billion — a figure that Engoron rejected last week in a bombshell ruling. In his decision, Engoron — who is deciding the trial rather than a jury — cited a local Palm Beach County official saying the country club had been assessed at a range of between $18 million and $27 million between 2011 and 2021. In the same decision, Engoron rejected Trump’s expert’s valuation that the Florida estate was worth $1.5 billion finding the expert’s opinion “unexplained and unsubstantiated ‘dream[s.]'” Industry experts were left scratching their heads at the Palm Beach assessor’s seemingly low estimation, claiming that the resort would list closer to $300 million. Engoron’s ruling found Trump liable for fraud — the key claim in James’ suit — for exaggerating the worth of his assets. He sided with the AG finding that Trump had fraudulently inflated his net worth — including with his claim that his Trump Tower triplex was 30,000 square feet when it was actually closer to 11,000. Engoron also revoked Trump’s business licenses in the Big Apple and said a receiver needed to be appointed to wind down his companies in the Empire State. Trump, 77, attended the first day of trial at the 60 Centre Street courthouse in lower Manhattan prompting protesters to come out in force and block a street outside the historic building. James also attended the trial, looking on from the first row as Eric Trump — the executive vice president of Trump Org — watched from the second row. The case is expected to last through Dec. 27 and could see witnesses testify including Trump, Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, former Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg and former Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen. In his opening statements AG’s office lawyer Kevin Wallace accused Trump of pumping up his net worth in part due to vanity and wanting to move up on Forbes’ billionaires list. An apparently damning video clip was played of Cohen’s deposition, in which the ex-Trump lawyer described how his boss instructed him and Weisselberg to inflate his worth from $6 billion to $8 billion. “‘I think I’m actually worth $8 billion,'” Cohen recalled Trump allegedly saying in the video. Meanwhile Trump’s lawyers told Engoron during their opening statements that the AG’s case is based on the word of Cohen — a convicted felon. “The government hinges its proof of conspiracy on a serial liar,” Christopher Kise charged. Habba, meanwhile, attempted to punch holes in the AG’s argument that Trump inflated his assets to get better loan and bank terms, at the expense of the lenders and insurers. “These banks made money. They were not defrauded,” Habba told the court. “That is not fraud. That is real estate.” Trump blasted the case before entering the courtroom at the beginning of the day and again when he left during the lunch break. He called it a “disgraceful trial,” at the midday break.
