Maybe this picture of the Lenin statue in Seattle will shed a little light on what is happening in the "CHOP" zone.......Black Lives Matter you say? https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/lenin-statue-of-fremont?fbclid=IwAR3aSJB7qeLs-QYmcm964Tra22IfkRw5tmLBbCqhz7tqDYo9stdOZjfs3_M STRIDING FORWARD WITH A SCOWL on his face and surrounded by flames and the symbols of war this 16 foot tall bronze sculpture of Lenin looks particularly fierce, so it is all the more out of place in the friendly neighborhood of Fremont, located just outside of Seattle. The statue was made in 1988 by Emil Venkov for the communist republic of then Czechoslovakia. The solid bronze statue was built to last but communist Czechoslovakia wasn’t and only a year later in 1989 communism fell during the now famous “velvet revolution.” The brand new statue was sent to the scrapyard. Lewis E. Carpenter, an ex-pat from Issaquah, Washington living in the Czech Republic found the statue ready to be melted down and fell in love. He saw an artistic work that deserved to be preserved. At a total cost of $41,000 Carpenter bought the statue and shipped it back to Washington despite the general feelings from many residents that the statue and what it represented was abhorrent. Sadly in 1994, Carpenter was killed in a car accident leaving the statue once again in limbo. After being shuffled around it found a home in nearby Fremont appropriately only a block from a salvaged Cold War rocket fuselage. While Fremont may at first seem an odd home for the statue, it is a more appropriate location then first appears. Known as “The People’s Republic of Fremont” and”The Artists’ Republic of Fremont,” it was once a hotbed of radical politics and counterculture, and despite gentrifying a bit with age it is still home to a vibrant artistic community. Besides being near the rocket fuselage, the angry Lenin is close to the Fremont Troll, a giant concrete troll crushing a car, and sign with such advice as “throw your watch away.” Lenin himself is the victim of various artistic exuberance and has appeared dressed as John Lennon, adorned with a red star during Christmas, in drag during gay pride week, painted as a clown, and his head is a prized seat during parades. In this context the scowling Lenin almost looks like he is in on the joke. Should you fall in love with the Lenin as much as Carpenter did you can have it for yourself. As of 2006 the Lenin sculpture was on sale for $250,000 dollars.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/seattle-police-clear-chop-zone-make-arrests-mayors/story?id=71551625&fbclid=IwAR3rtrgcqlSpzkn0oQABlO4BEBkQSu75kkT4iSXJQYB3jocsSNz9W-uQ-Ts Following "ongoing violence and public safety issues," Seattle's mayor has issued an executive order to clear the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) zone -- a several block, autonomous police-free zone -- and Seattle police enforced the order Wednesday morning. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said in a statement, "This order, and our police response, comes after weeks of violence in and around the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone, including four shootings, resulting in multiple injuries and the deaths of two teenagers." "I support peaceful demonstrations," Best said, adding, "the CHOP has become lawless and brutal. Four shootings -- two fatal -- robberies, assaults, violence and countless property crimes have occurred in this several block area." Police began issuing dispersal orders early Wednesday, and as of 7:45 a.m. local time, officers made 23 arrests for assault, failure to disperse, obstruction and resisting arrest, the department said. The CHOP zone was formed after explosive standoffs between protesters and Seattle police after the death of George Floyd, a Black man in Minnesota who died while in police custody. Following days of clashes, Seattle police on June 8 largely withdrew from the Capitol Hill district, leaving a void for protesters. The protesters seized a roughly six-block area, including the east precinct, to create an "autonomous police-free zone." The zone remained for weeks, and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan told ABC News' "Nightline" last month that it required time and distance to de-escalate the tensions between the people and police. "We need to have some time for people to feel that they have had the ability to protest and raise their voices and have the time to work, not just with the people on Capitol Hill but with all of Seattle," she said. "These protests are protests fundamentally about a policing system that has tried to dominate Black Americans through the history of our country. You don't meet those protests with domination. You meet them with listening and with change," Durkan said. And now they get to go back home to their parent's basements after proving nothing except that this didn't work........And SF is left wondering - "what changed?" (what did the mayor mean)

https://yachatsnews.com/12119-2/ Oregon governor issues emergency order requiring people in Lincoln County and six other counties wear masks inside public places starting June 24 Lincoln County’s directive goes further than Brown’s order by also applying to outdoor settings where people or groups cannot maintain six feet of distance from other parties. The county’s orders also applies to bars, restaurants and other eating establishments except when the patron is eating or drinking. But the order exempts children under 12, people with disabilities or breathing issues, or people of color who “have heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment while wearing face coverings in public.” You must wear a mask.....if your white...... Really confused, because early on in this COVID BS thing, we were led to believe that the black population was being afflicted a whole bunch worse than whites.......

From a friend........ Covid-19 has become perhaps the most destructive farce in man's history, and we have only ourselves to blame. We won't know until next summer or fall if it has had any impact on overall mortality; about 2.8 million Americans die every year from many causes (7,600 a day, 53,000 a week, 233,000 a month) We do know it's not as deadly or communicable as advertised. We do know there is an effective treatment; (chloroquine and antibiotics being used in Turkey) We do know we've destroyed millions of lives with no convincing evidence that lives have been saved. We do know that progressive states ordered covid patients into nursing homes, and that accounted for nearly half of all deaths. I was skeptical when the pandemic began, and I'm convinced that we should all be living our lives normally. If you interact with an elderly, chronically I'll person, you should wear a mask, and protect them from this virus.

Anyone else get the feeling this is Kaepernick 2.0 for a NASCAR racer who hasn't even won a (car) race yet?

https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/protesters-designate-park-black-out-zone-for-black-people-only-segregation-is-apparently-back/?fbclid=IwAR3za5-0GZI8nicOf33qAqsTyKRieOu-Hbvd8uSbnmk0xDjiHPzFEUHUKKI Protesters designate park “Black Out” zone, for black people only. Segregation is apparently back. |June 23, 2020 |CategoriesFeatured, Must Reads, News Share: SEATTLE, WA – At Cal Anderson Park in Washington State, a scene from the 1950’s plays out, only in reverse. Apparently, organizers in the area decided it was time that black people, and only black people, were allowed into the park for several hours to provide a safe place for them to “heal.” The organizers felt that the “string” of black people killed recently by police, captured on video, has caused such a disturbance that the black community there needed to be free from any and all other races. So, they set up the “black out zone,” where only black people were allowed to be in the park. White people stood guard at the entrance and around the park to inform everyone in the area that was not of black heritage that they were unwelcome. A man taking a video was met by a white woman who said: “This space is held right now for just black folks.” The man clarified that it was for “full black” people only, and the woman said: “Um…if you have black ancestry or, um…like, if you’ve experienced oppression because you are black, then you can enter this space.” One of the persons interviewed by King 5, described as a co-organizer, states that they needed to provide a space where black people could “breathe and heal.” They chose not to have anyone other than black people in the space because they did not want people in there that would say “all lives matter” or try to “discredit” what they are doing. The park was apparently only needed as a black people only space until 8 pm. Perhaps the organizers of this event have never heard of Martin Luther King, Jr. One would have to believe that if they had, they would know that this man, a Christian Pastor, literally gave his life in order to integrate white and black people. To bring the races together. That Mr. King pushed for peaceful demonstrations and any violence that occurred when he was in charge was rare. Perhaps they are unaware of the years he fought the system and eventually, his blood, sweat and tears began to fix a system for the better in America, that all should be included and feel welcome. The organizers have totally missed the history lesson in his famous speech, I have a Dream. An excerpt from this speech is as follows: “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” Apparently, at least for the organizers of the event, his speech only was meant for those states that he specifically mentions, and that table of brotherhood he mentions, must not exist at Cal Anderson Park. Perhaps they also do not know of Rosa Parks, a black woman and hero in her time for standing up against segregation and racism. They now know that Ms. Parks was riding in the bus when a white man got on. Of course, during that time, in 1956, if a white man entered onto the bus, all people of color had to move in order to accommodate the white man. Ms. Parks stood her ground and refused to be moved as she had paid her fare. The police responded and Ms. Parks was arrested, for merely trying to ride the bus with white people. If the organizers knew of the history, the people of color who fought and died for the right to be considered equal to whites, I would be confused as to why they would insist on segregating themselves from white people. The problem seems to be that the organizers of this event feel as if they have either been victimized so much as a race that no one else can sympathize and feel their pain. If that is not the case, then they must believe that blacks are superior and must be treated as such. In any case, separating yourselves from other races is the exact opposite of what needs to happen in America. In America, we unite in times of trouble and strife. We do not divide ourselves. Wait - So segregation is now in vogue......?
