  1. Who sits around and thinks about such things? https://sf.curbed.com/2019/7/17/20698146/berkeley-manhole-changes-name-maintenancehole-gender-neutral?fbclid=IwAR2UUoA_GQADYhMuiCLEKiFR7RYqcIBtGisR6ARDDOHmahIIxotEP2Vpn1I
  2. This is some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a while. Good work by the author.
  3. We worked on the security office at Morgan Foods a few years back. I would have to check in at a temp trailer to get my visitor pass to be on-site. I was somewhat shocked at the number of truck drivers I encountered who: A: Spoke little or no English B: I know people who've gone thru the CDL class and have heard stories about how difficult it is, there is NO WAY most of those guys passed the same test. 😄 It literally scared me to think I'm on the same road as these people and they're driving a massive 80K pound vehicle. People in general aside from being distracted are inconsiderate as hell on the road. Put your phone down, pay attention to what's going on around you. And for the love of god, if you're not passing GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!
  4. Local police here ran a similar scam with one riding school a school bus. Initially the idea was to go after bus stop violators, it of course spread to seat belts, texting, etc.
  5. I don't really remember Big Wheels being a thing until the 72-73. I really felt like I missed out, because they seemed really cool. By 72 I was 7 YO and felt like I was too big for them. By 7-8 YO, I could pull the 21" Lawn Boy around the neighborhood mowing grass and making cash! That little 1 gallon gas can would hang from one side of my handle bars and I'd pull the mower with that hand, it seemed to even everything out.
  6. I guess time will tell won't it. FYI, in my opinion, the Clinton's are irrelevant in 2020, it's time for EVERYONE to move on, and FWIW, the dude it Teflon, nothing is going to stick to him, so don't waste your time.
  7. I'm not sure on the distraction premise. I seem to recall early in his presidency the media telling us he was going to get us in a war with North Korea. Now they're telling us he's going to get us in a war with Iran, I didn't buy it then, and I'm not buying it now. Though I must say, Iran shouldn't let their alligator mouth overload their humming bird ass. They're being pretty stupid with their navy. Epstein is a non-factor. There's plenty of dirt on both sides, that story will quietly fade away and he'll go to jail. Looking at the group who voted for him because he wasn't Hillary, do you really believe the those voters flip based on the current crop of D candidates? I do not. Support from racist groups is greatly exaggerated in my opinion. Lust looking at the KKK by most estimates has a current membership of 5000-8000 nationwide. I don't see that they have significant enough numbers to influence anything. I can't imagine across the board of hate groups that are substantial enough numbers to matter. Also of note The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed over 1000 current hate groups in the US. Listed beside the KKK is the Nation of Islam, so to some extent those numbers are going to cancel each other out. I will stand by my statement, he's a brilliant, though unconventional tactician. The media and the dems are being played like a fiddle. Once again as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are on their "impeach Trump" tour, what legislation have they proposed to fix the problem at the border that they seem so concerned about? They seem really long on bitching, and really short on fixes.
  8. I am in no way endorsing Trumps Twitter tirade over the weekend. But I will say once again he’s playing the media and dems like a fiddle. Of late the mainstream of the party is distancing themselves from VOC, there’s been plenty of air time discussing the rift between the VOC Squad and the leadership. Internal polling shows VOC is the face (and mouth) of the party among the vaunted independents, and has miserable approval numbers. Trump has once again unified them against him, and in doing so has made VOC the face of the party. IMO you can say what you want about Trump, but the dude understands media, and he understands how to use them to his advantage.
  9. First rule of storming Area 51 is don’t talk about storming Area 51......particularly the date and time.
  10. I don't believe this is a 1st Amendment issue. Just because someone blocks you on social media does not silence you. My state rep and I are personal friends, we went to school together, and have been FB friends since before he was a state rep. I see how some of his threads degenerate. He gets hammered by bots, out of state fake accounts, etc. I rarely posts on his threads because of all the notifications and all the crap you have to wade thru. I also know he has blocked people.
  11. Been there done that, only it was about the 6" mark. Ball was dead, I don't think anyone knew what to do, BJ finally just blew it dead. It did turn into a great story though. Suffice to say by the time it was all over, the coach thought I was a walking rule book.
  12. It is a scrimmage kick just like a punt, and treated the same way.
  13. These canned programs to schools, are a HUGE money grab for the distributor. Schools see 10K worth of "free" stuff and they get all hot and bothered. See how far 10K goes when you start buying football uniforms. Not to mention the boondoggle it creates for sports like wrestling, golf, tennis, etc. My brother coaches golf at said school, and they had to pay more for shirts and pullovers this year, that everyone hated. Seems like a win win to me.
  14. I would think more in terms of apparel for organizations. I would guess some organizations are large enough they would order uniforms from Lids (now part of BSN). In talking to the salesman from BSN, he said he did see some drop off from the original CK/Nike deal. Lids was Nike exclusively, BSN also offers UA as well. A local HS made a big to do over dropping all of their Nike uniforms and signing up with UA. Honestly it's a bunch of grandstanding, the target demographic is still the yute of the world, and I don't see them giving a hoot what Nike does, their stuff is cool. Personally I'm way past being cool, I'm about comfort and function, Nike isn't on the radar, nor has it been in years.
  15. I ain't going to lie, my wife has a garden tub in her bathroom, and I may have been enticed once or twice, but there was a shower first.
  16. I wouldn't even sit in my own bath water....hence I haven't had a bath since I was a kid.
  17. Could you elaborate? Perhaps tell us what steps HR should have taken to fill the positions that they haven't? Given your extensive background in HR I'm sure you can offer us some great insight.
  18. That A. Actually inhibited healing. B. Was actually dangerous. I'm surprised I don't still have those freaking red stains on my body somewhere.
  19. Innovative idea to solve a problem. Our local system is facing the same issues. All the farmers used to do it to get insurance, but they're retiring. It's a pretty good gig, but I'm trying to get rid of demands on my time, not gain new ones.
  20. Couldn't agree more Coach! I have been on the board of the ICGSA since 2013. We have been told repeatedly by assistant commissioners that summer rules were coming. I even proposed a limited contact summer schedule for all sports. We were told in 2015 that the Student Advisory Council voted unanimously the wanted no contact in the summer, like we had back in the day. We were told that Bobby Cox puts a lot of weight on what the Student Advisory Council has to say. We were advised to be progressive and come up with a plan, before we had something shoved down our throat that no one liked. Here we are five years later and still nothing. ***Editorial*** The demand put on high school kids in the summers are stupid in my opinion. It's too much, particularly when you look at kids who want/need to have jobs. I applaud the IFCA in being proactive and getting out in front of this issue. I would also ask this, are we really seeing any gains from all this summer activity? I see a LOT of high school sports, I officiate two sports and see much more. This past spring, in talking with a LOT of coaches in multiple sports, I firmly believe the overall level of play across the board in high school sports in Indiana is not what it was 10 or even five years ago. You want to know why we're seeing dwindling numbers across the board, look at all the demands we place on kids. And from a purely Football perspective, look at the number of good young coaches we're losing in this game to burnout and leaving because of time commitments. Young coaches usually involve young families. These young men are choosing their families, which I applaud, but it doesn't help our game.
  21. Good week for a family vacation. Too bad VB and BB don't get that opportunity.
