If we get beat again, I quit. Getting beat the way we did against Mishawaka has put each game from the W column to the toss up column. Barf City.

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)
BLACKGOLD2007 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
To be honest I struggle with ranking the smaller schools and judging them against the bigger ones. My gut says based on your current 25, they are probably in the 30 range. I am so disgusted with the loss to Mishawaka, I don't even like talking about Penn right now. But, here I am bumping my jibs on and on. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

If Elkhart destroys Penn, by all means rank them in the top 25, I don't see it happening. I have been wrong before and I don't see Penn taking two dumps against two local teams this year. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

I get it, I really do....We all know that the 3 loss HCC team is better....maybe it is hard to justify 1-3 over 3-1, but if that 1-3 team ends up 5-3 and Elkhart ends up 7-2 I am going to rank that 5-3 team ahead of Elkhart. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

Elkhart's only quality game is going to be against Penn, who isn't a quality team this year. A win against Penn does not help them but a loss to Penn, wont hurt them? I am sorry but ranked in the top 25 right now is too high...especially with Penn being ranked beneath them. If Penn had not crapped the bed against Mishawaka, and Elkhart lost a tight game to Penn, maybe a 7-2 Elkhart can be justified as a top 25 team. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

I would say the loss of the players to Elkhart has forced Mishawaka to rely on young talent that came to play this year. They face planted after the Penn game, was that because they left all their juice on the field and ran out against Concord, or is Concord that good. When push comes to shove, I don't think 5A is won by a true north team this year. I think Warsaw is their best bet, but Bart ball always finds a way to fumble that away as well. I think Penn's O bought into the hype after the Valpo game, and thought Mishawaka would just roll over for them, not taking anything away from Mishawaka, but that was the 1 out of 10 game scenario. But, I am biased so, maybe that game was the 9 out of 10 and Penn winning would be the 1, I just refuse to believe that they are that far behind Mishawaka. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

We don't belong on this list and we proved that in Week 2. I just know Elkhart for what they are, struggle with the good teams and crush the bad teams. Sounds a lot like Penn these days. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 4)

Elkhart being on this list is because of over inflated wins against two bad South Bend football programs. They are about as good as Penn. -
Penn wins over Marian, double digits. Elkhart beats NP, this could be close or could be a blowout. St. Joe beats Adams....Adams is bad. Riley beats Washington...Washington I think is worse than Adams. Penn could have scored 100 on Washington, but called the dogs off after the first quarter. The state of South Bend football is possibly the worst shape it has been in a while. I don't think Elkhart would have played you any better than Penn did.
-
I would agree with this. Riley has some athletes, they just wore out against a bigger Penn team that did not play well at all. If Elkhart shows up blowout city.
-
I think all but maybe 1 penalty was called on Penn in the first half. Which was almost another 100 yards. They had a 50 plus yard TD called back. Then we went into this weird stretch of play calling that was a crystal ball for the ND game the next afternoon. Fans were screaming to just run the ball and run with Watson. Penn should have beat that team in the first half, and then practiced plays in the 3rd quarter. Penn will probably pull Crown Point in game one of sectionals and put this season to bed early. I cannot imaging Penn getting beat by Lake Central or Portage.
-
It felt like they were trying to practice plays, rather than allowing their playmakers to go out and make plays. I mean they wont run the ball with Watson, why IDK. It is bad. The only bright spots from the Riley game was the two back up running backs looked good.

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 2)
BLACKGOLD2007 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That is fair, I didn't not expect the Offense to do almost nothing all game. Every time the started to mount a drive they would shoot their foot off and wonder what happened. Just disappointing. -
Temp’s Top 25 (Week 2)

Mishawaka made Penn look like 💩 Awful display on both offense and defense. I am not trying to take anything away from how Mishawaka handled Penn, but it felt like the D learned nothing from week 1 and the O just dropped a load in their pants after going down two scores. Penn Paper Tigers. We have been exposed far sooner than I thought we would be. -
6A matchups
BLACKGOLD2007 replied to BLACKGOLD2007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yeah, sorry I was bouncing back and forth from one page to another. I will do better next time. Crown Point for the win? -
🤦♂️ I dont remember him being there at all.
-
It has been a while since there have been this many Penn guys on this thread. It is nice to see you guys all on here.

#1 Westfield v #9 Carmel - I think Westfield beats Carmel by at least 10 #2 Crown Point v Arizona College Prep - I know nothing about ACP, so I assume they are really good if they are willing to come this far to play ball....I also didn't look into them. #3 Cathedral v #6 Brownsburg - I think this is going to be a banger. I would not be surprised if this game comes down to the wire or goes into OT. #4 Warren Central v (#4 in 5A) Warsaw - Warren works out the option attack quickly and dominates Warsaw. Good on Warsaw for putting Warren on their schedule. #5 HSE v North Central - HSE gets a breather before jumping in to HCC play. #7 Center Grove v #14 Carroll - Center Grove has not lost two games in a row since 2019. I think Center Grove keeps that steak alive but Carroll puts up a fight away from home. #8 Ben Davis v Avon - Ben Davis gets back in the win column. #10 Penn v (#4 in 4A) Mishawaka - Penn's new found speed in the backfield gives Mishawaka more than they can handle. Penn wins by multiple scores. #11 Fishers v Pike - I don't know much about Pike, but Fishers has gone 7-3 over the last 10 games against Pike, I think they get win #8 Friday. #12 Lawrence North v Fort Wayne North - Fort Wayne North beat a consistent Northridge last weekend, but they run into LN who some of you think is going to make waves in the Indy landscape this year. #13 Columbus North v Columbus East - Columbus East beat the 5A runner up from last years state finals game last week. They come up against crosstown rival this weekend. I think North pulls it out in a tight one.

Where was Bardo last year? Is he a transfer in? The name doesn't ring a bell from last year's team.

N.I.C. Week 1 games
BLACKGOLD2007 replied to BLACKGOLD2007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Some of this can be attributed to week one issues, some of it was Valpo execution and I think the rest was being tired. You are on the field you give up a 7 play 80 yard td drive, just to have your Offense score in one or two plays, that is a couple minutes real time of rest to then have another 80 yard drive put on you. I think the D played pretty poorly. I think the issues they have will be masked by the weak schedule. Come Crown Point I think the D is in for another shoot out. -
IFCA COACHES' POLLS - WEEK 2

I would say it is much closer to accurate than what we have seen in the coaches and media polls for sure. -

Well yeah, just like in college, but the fact it said Lake Central was laughable. -
IFCA COACHES' POLLS - WEEK 2
BLACKGOLD2007 replied to NLCTigerFan07's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well, the highest I expect Penn to get in the rankings is 10, even if they are undefeated. Their schedule after week 2 is put on auto pilot. I think after the rematch with CP, we will know if this Penn team is for real or not. Obviously if they lose that answers the question. -
That sounds right. I am sorry, I need to start getting the program and learning these guys names.
-
Yes it would. But, I think, and this has ruffled some feathers, that we scored too quickly at times during the game against Valpo. The D was on the field a lot Friday night. That will wear down anyone, especially when you are up against a team that is blessed with size like Valpo. In the Third quarter alone I think there was 35-42 points scored by both teams. Penn would give up the TD, and score on the next play or in two plays. That is little to no time for the D to recover. Valpo was good at generating drives and also at scoring with relative speed.
