  1. We haven't seen Mishawaka in a few years, is it the same QB from last year? Their FB runs downhill and hard, they didn't utilize their wings much, but they aren't always in the traditional triple option formation. I think Mishawaka's problem in the playoffs will be handling Snider's speed come the regional game.
  2. I think that the officials have been all over the place in our games. Flag happy, to just not calling anything. Heck we had a ref that throw a flag and wait it felt like minutes to make the call. It is just strange the inconsistency and antics from some of these guys. But, it is easy to criticize from the stands.
  3. They still run the ball more, but they can throw the ball. Mishawaka has some really athletic talented players on that field. The biggest issue, is mistakes. They hurt themselves enough for Penn to exploit during their matchup a couple weeks ago. I would not be surprised if they are the best team out of the NLC this year.
  4. Temp Where do you see Mishawaka? Near the 25 mark or further back?
  5. Penn 100% was flat and lacked emotion on Offense. I will give credit to both teams on Defense, both units played with heart and emotion. I think Penn was finally able to make the adjustments that were needed to move the ball. They got Nolan out of the pocket moving to his right and was able to connect on some 20 yard passes. Once they lifted the lid off the D, Penn was able to run the ball down the hear of the Elkhart D. Coaches need to identify these things faster during the beginning of a game. Elkhart would hold back on 1st and 2nd down then bring the pressure on 3rd, especially if Penn was in 3rd and long. Also Penn needs to eliminate their zone plays. They run down hill very well and can kill you with a read option. It was an ugly half for the Penn O, but they figured it out at the half. If Penn had played well in the first half this would have been a blow out, but again credit to Elkhart D for their great effort.
  6. Conservative play calling and lack of enthusiasm. Penn finally scores 7-0 3rd 4 mins left
  7. The Penn v NP game has been nail biters every time Penn goes to NP....I expect that to be similar this year. That is a great game to broadcast. That is a shame.
  8. Is this really the 46 game of the week? Yeah, when you have the Northwood v Warsaw game and the NP v St. Joe game could easily be more entertaining. I hope this game goes much smoother than the last couple outings v Elkhart
  9. Exactly what I was worried about. Penn = pretenders
  10. We have to remember, Penn's play calling can get very predictable in parts of the game. Penn is much better than they have been since this series started. But, this group right now has shown sparks of brilliance and then shocked me with bone head plays. Now, I understand they are high school kids, but they need to be dialed in tonight to give Cathedral a scare. If we remember last season, Penn came out strong and then Cathedral owned the game after their bomb touchdown late in the first half. I think this Penn team is better than that team, if they can play a full 48 minutes like they did in the first 23 minutes of last year, we could be talking about a different outcome this year. But, it is Cathedral and I am hesitant to be positive about Penn vs Indy schools.
  11. Cathedral wins by 21 if Penn cannot fix their mental mistakes. We are more athletic than we have been in the past 5 years, but we lack consistent mental engagement throughout the game, on both sides of the ball. Week 1, The secondary fell asleep and allowed two deep TD's.... Penn's center has a random high snap that has killed two drives this season already....that took 14 points off the board. The only way Penn keeps this game in reach is if they can tackle well and find a way to keep Cathedral's D on their heels. There is a very strong like 95% chance this is going to be the case.
  12. It would be if they had to play them every season. If Penn does eventually go Independent, you can keep the local schools happy by playing them on a rotating schedule. Rotate the Catholic Schools and rotate the three remaining South Bend schools. If you are going to challenge yourself with a harder schedule you will need some cushion on the schedule to get players healthy.
  13. I hope not. When the conference split Riley and Washington made it clear they did not want to play Penn. I think if Penn could strike a deal like ND where they are members in sports other than Football, it would be best for the school and program.
  14. When you have 1:50 ish on the clock, you are at the 5yd line with two timeouts left. When we were running north and south we were gaining yards. We do not run zone plays well. Yes we should have ran the ball, Nolan could have pulled the ball on that pass play and probably scored. Things like this need to get cleaned up against Cathedral or we will be in for a long night. The high snaps also need fixed asap.
  15. I just want Penn to keep the game close. Cathedral just got handed a convincing loss....and Penn has had mental mistakes on both sides of the ball in weeks 1 and 2. My honest opinion, I think Cathedral beats us by 21. I hope not, but it is going to come down to execution from Penn on offense and tight coverage and good tackling on D. If Penn can control the time of possession, like they did in the first half of the Mishawaka game, I think they can make the game interesting.
