  1. How good is Elkhart really? On the surface they played 2 qbs against Concord and Northridge. I am assuming that trend continued against Hammond Morton. Is that sustainable or is that what is best...? Hanover Central a 3A school beat Morton worse than Elkhart. Certainly they have enough athletes after combining schools. Are the kids not coachable? Do they even have a chance against Penn?
  2. They practice on the game field. That beats it up pretty bad. I think it works to their advantage as the season goes on.
  3. Is it late in the year to hire a coach? Yes. Are they taking to long to allow people to apply? No... They need time for coaches to apply and organize schedules for the interview committee. Most schools can't hire a coach in less than 4 weeks unless there is a named successor.
  4. Do we accept our status as second class citizens and just cede the 6A tournament to the south? Is it actually the south or just Indianapolis?
  5. Cody French Elkhart's DC has had top 5 defenses the last 2 years. He has been with Coach Shattuck from the time he took over in Elkhart and helped rebuild the program.
  6. Both teams played a great game! back and forth in the fourth quarter. Good luck to Merrillville in the semi state. Elkhart you should be proud of bringing two rivals together and succeeding despite all that you guys had to over come.
  7. It would be a travesty if Elkhart County had healthy football teams and the adults/factories cause them to miss out on the tournament. I believe it to be reasonable that you can take the fans away but let the kids play assuming there is not an outbreak on the team. Just my two cents...
  8. It should not matter WHO is out. Tons of small schools play kids up for varsity. I doubt Fairfield would skip a game because they had to play a few underclassmen against schools who are much larger. You take your licks and dish them out when you can. Fairfield went from losing 70-0 to Angola to beating them 29-17 two years later. South Bend teams have been accepting beatings for years despite their low team numbers. You should go out and do the best you can especially in these uncertain times. Marian was intimidated...which doesn't make sense to me since they beat Penn worse than Elkhart did. They had a shot at the title and didn't take it.
  9. Chesterton also turned them down. Davidson skipped a Homecoming game instead of playing Elkhart...
  10. I think all programs that are healthy should be trying to play games even on short notice! These kids deserve an opportunity to compete. Football is unique in when you are done playing you are done playing for life. It is not like basketball or tennis. I can be understanding when there are large discrepancies in school size but some smaller schools have beaten a few big schools. If you want names follow Elkhart's coaches on Twitter. They were aggressive about being willing to play anybody home or away.
  11. The saddest part of the whole situation is that Multiple healthy teams refused to play Elkhart!
