Good luck to Mr. DeSantis is trying to get this legislation passed. It won't work.   And while I find the news that Disney has been pushing pro-LGBT messaging into various children's media products for years abhorrent that doesn't mean parents are being forced to have their children consume Disney products and services.

Maybe not, but at least he has the balls to make his stance known.

The vast majority of officials have no real interest in showing a profit from officiating. In 40 seasons I probably broke even most of the time, but no better than that. But for many, that doesn’t mean they can subsidize their avocation to the tune of many $$ (and hours) each season. So, I say it again: money is not the answer, but it’s one of the answers.

    Correct.

Learned a lot over the years speaking w fellow officials.

I have paid for many Florida trips (in cash) from officiating.

Doesn’t really have to do with gas, I’ve turned down a couple of SB games that were an hour plus away from home and only paid 60 bucks. It’ll be shitty softball, I’m probably five hours in from work to game to home, for 60 bucks…..nah. McDonalds is paying 15ish and hour to start right now.

Then go flip burgers my guy.

Coach Sharpe’s leaving had nothing to do with the school. Rather, it was a family matter. As for Coach Ortiz, I’m just musing, but Buzz has had some health issues. Who knows how long he’ll be there?

DO would be, what, the 4th or 5th former HC on Buzz's staff now?

Part of the problem is that coaches from some of the best and strongest programs throughout the state are raiding other staffs and hoarding many of the up and coming hot young coaches.

Buzea poaching Ortiz from Laporte and Osika stealing young Eric Schreiber from the West Side program are two examples where rich, high resource blue bloods hurt two smaller schools who are struggling and trying to get their programs back on track.  In the name of competitive balance, is this really a good practice?  Isnt there an unwritten rule and a code of ethics between staffs, especially at the local level?

Laporte will suffer through another coaching change and fall further behind in the DAC while Buzea's all star coaching staff just keeps getting bigger.

West Side's great progress and momentum could very likely be derailed with the loss of a high impact, natural leader like Schreiber JR.  Is Schreiber the presumed "Coach in Waiting" at Hobart?

Possibly the same with Ortiz at Crown Point?

    No.

  5. With BCS wrapping up after this season, I wanted to see if others have watched the show/s and discuss.

Personally, I have had to re-watch episodes of both and research on line.  The writing, acting, directing, producing, etc. is so good.  Add to that, the amount of time in between seasons, makes it difficult at times to connect all the dots.

The Venn Diagram is becoming clearer....wanting to hear other's thoughts.

***Last night was a 2 episode premier of BCS.  I only watched the 1st episode yesterday and plan on watching the 2nd tonight.

My thought is that if they were motivated enough to have Michigan stop by to teach them the game, then eventually they would have had somebody teach them had the Wolverines refused.

I said it once and I'll say it again. Most Irish fans that I know have completely forgotten about that game. Notre Dame's football program is focused on winning the national championship. If someone asked Freeman or anyone on his staff what the score of that game was, 50% of them wouldn't even know.

I agree that Michigan fans think more about that game than Notre Dame fans do. But at the end of the day, both programs can hold their heads high knowing that they are the two winningest programs in college football history.

    🤷‍♀️

So if Michigan's football team didn't stop in South Bend in 1894 to teach the Notre Dame students the game of football on their way to Chicago, then Notre Dame wouldn't have a football team today?

I’m sure the pope would’ve intervened at some point. Too much money in college football to be had. 😊

I would guess the logistics make a scrimmage more appealing than a jamboree.

For example my senior year jamboree encountered one of those late August lightning storms. Imagine being an AD and having to find somewhere for three visiting teams to dress and wait out an hour lightning delay.

Happened to us my junior year (fall of 94) at Munster.

I do not recall sharing "cover areas" with any of the other teams.

IMSC, we came back and played that next Saturday morning.

That was the lineup when I was in hs (graduated in 96). I’m not sure how many years those were the 6 teams but this would have been like 92, 93, 94, 95 and possibly 96 or until jamborees stopped

I graduated in 96 too. The fall of 95 we (LC) had our first controlled scrimmage. We were at Valpo.

When we participated in a jamboree during my HS career, we were at Munster. It was a 4 team gig. Us, Munster, Highland, and Bishop Noll.  Though I don’t ever recall us playing BNI.

He's cheap too. Maybe you could pick him up and give him a ride up in your Caddy. Everything should be fine if you leave by sunset. Let's go @temptation!, give your brother in stripes some love!

You are inviting us to dinner.  That implies you are buying.  Come on Gonzo. You buy the tenderloins. I’ll buy ya a pop.

Bell will do well. Kids tough. I’d take a bunch of him on my team.

The name Indiana is to basketball as the name Notre Dame is to football. That's why there are so many ND football/IU basketball fans. Ask someone from California or New York what they think of when they think of Indiana. They'll tell you cornfields or basketball. Ask them what they think of Notre Dame. Will they say education? Nope, they'll say football. It's just human nature to root for both if you live in this state.

I agree.  I know many jacket flippers.  I just happen to be not one of them.  If I was more of a college hoops fan, I probably would'vs.

If we only had two more Dems just like him, that would balance out the three RINO's (Romney, Murkowski & I forget the 3rd one).

But, isn't this what's happening now with property taxes for Joe Homeowner?  My property value increased 40% (yes, that's not a typo) this year, and if were not for the homestead exemption, my tax bill would have went up accordingly.  Down here homestead limits tax increase to a max 10%/yr.  If our homes increase in value, we pay taxes on that even though we haven't sold.  Then when we sell, if the dollar amount is high enough, we get hit with capital gains tax.  Unfair for the 1% and unfair for us, too.

If you live anywhere in Indiana other than west central, if you don't have a college degree, or if you have a degree from Ball State, then you're probably a fan of both ND football and IU basketball. There's really no shame in it. It's just people in Indiana rooting for universities that reside in Indiana. Loyalty to your home state.

    Not me.  NWI baby.

ND football yes.  IU hoops, no.  I was 9 when they won in 87.  I am now 44.  As a Hoosier, I was happy they beat Syracuse, but that was all.  TBH, that is the last time I felt they were really relevant.

I enjoyed watching college hoops, but not as much as football.  I wouldn't say I even had a "team" for college hoops.

Notice he is not saying ND will beat either...though I'll put my differences aside and root for them in both of those contests...especially week 1.

    LOL, no I didn't notice.

Temp knows why Clemson and Ohio State will fail this season. They'll fail because they are on ND's schedule. It's almost a curse. ND's strength of schedule is never as strong at the end of the season as it is at the beginning.

    😂

    gotcha.  sorry bout that
