  1. https://technocracy.news/cdc-confirms-extremely-low-covid-19-death-rate/?fbclid=IwAR1CaXgp0aCtIsLRFwgUSTeOAwRpVwvZB6n6P3-vU07VMVBq588yYS6knhk “The CDC estimates the death rate from COVID-19 for those under 50 is 1 in 5,000 for those with symptoms, which would be 1 in 6,725 overall, but again, almost all those who die have specific comorbidities or underlying conditions. Those without them are more likely to die in a car accident. And schoolchildren, whose lives, mental health, and education we are destroying, are more likely to get struck by lightning.“
  2. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.indystar.com/amp/2126300002 Correct Indiana is in the Central time zone.

  4. From the article, "Although he joked social distancing might force them to be a spread team, Webb feels the flexbone offense Tell City ran in the past fits the system and the personality of the community. He plans to meet with the coaching staff soon and reaching out to a handful of players."
  5. New Tell City Coach! https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/07/01/mac-webb-named-new-football-coach-tell-city-high-school/5355959002/
  6. Good post. This is why we will have school and why we will have sports. If a kid gets sick they will be asked to go home and quarantine. The rest of the time there will be (some significant percentage) of kids walking around asymptomatic and no one will know or care. Just as there are at the graduations and grad parties we have been at, baseball tournaments, summer basketball, Lacrosse tournaments, Walmart etc. this summer. At the big Toyota plant in Gibson county they wear masks and have a walk through temperature scanner. Sick people don't come to work. No pressure to close that place ...there are 7,000 employees in there at least. And yes to Bobrefs point...more people are going to die because of this head in the sand methodology. I'm a 50 year old fat guy...I'm concerned for my safety. My youngest two will be freshmen...they will walk the halls and play sports.
  7. This is exactly how large factories in the state are staying open, it seems to be working.
  8. CST is much better. KY is only EST from about Louisville east which makes sense geographically (Owensboro, Madisonville, Bowling Green and Paducah are CST). We have CST here in in SW Indiana and on the shortest day of the year (December 21) sunset was 4:35. It's worth it to have Monday night football start at 8:00 and over at 11:00. And the 10:00 news is actually at 10:00. Far superior time than EST.
  9. It can be frustrating that HS football fans really really focus on what have you done for me lately, but end the end it's all that matters. There are more than a couple "tradition rich programs" that have faded in Indiana. "Tradition" in high school football is much like the stock market, past performance doesn't guarantee future results. That said....had a blast watching the Big 8 from 1974 to 1985. My memory fades but before an extended downturn in the years following, Gibson Southern was 84-37 in that 11 year period and Lincoln was 57-60...I believe. I am sure Lincoln will soon return to the glory they had from 1989-2006. I know the Lincoln fans LOVED coming to watch all those Friday night wins in those days. I'm really SUPER excited to see what coach Levi Salters can do in the SIAC.
  10. DST isn't the issue...the issue is the SW and NW corners of the state being on CST. I think it is nuts that any of Indiana is on EST...just my opinion.
  11. I think the value in terms of this forum is how there isn't any risk to the HS age kids. There is the obvious concern of them bringing it home to those more vulnerable. I still think that those who think that the only way they can get through this season is if they don't get a single case on their team through the entirety of the football season are living in a bit of a dream world. That said...I wouldn't quarantine anyone that wasn't symptomatic or didn't have prolonged exposure to someone who was either symptomatic or tested positive. I also wouldn't test the whole team every time a positive popped up. That is just me and my views don't represent the views of the South Gibson School Corporation or the coaching staff.
  12. LMAO...yeah...it's been on the bulletin board all winter!
  13. Not much science in my response. My methodology was using this data that is a little stale now (June 3rd). I picked 40 because it was kind of in the middle of the jump to 3 percent estimated relative risk of death from COVID-19. https://medium.com/analyticaper/covid-19-what-the-data-tells-us-3a08e42ee36f
  14. HS football teams are going to have cases. Kids will move in and out of quarantine and all will be fine. It's the teachers, coaches and administrators over 40 I worry about.
  15. Who wins each sectional? CLASS 3A Sectional 25 Knox? Sectional 26 Mishawaka Marian? Sectional 27 Fort Wayne Concordia? Sectional 28 Chatard? Sectional 29 Danville? Sectional 30 Vincennes Lincoln? Sectional 31 Lawrenceburg? Sectional 32 Gibson Southern?
  16. I was being a little facetious...sometimes I’m too subtle. Just pumped up about sectional 30 I guess. 😎
  17. I missed the link....good stuff. THE RB and QB returning is obviously huge.
  18. No love for Vincennes? https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/06/22/here-top-five-evansville-high-school-football-games-watch-season/3231778001/
  19. A few fun facts on Lawrenceburg: Similar losses to GS. 17 SRs. Top two WRs were SRs. Top 2 tacklers were SRs. 10 Jrs, 15 Soph and 22 Frosh listed on last years varsity roster. Dynamic QB is back as well at the RB who rushed for over 1,000 yards. Obviously GS has done a great job adjusting the puzzle pieces each year over the past decade, it looks like Lawrenceburg does a pretty good job as well.
  20. Agree....as long as your paying for it...it must be safe.

  22. I guess I hadn't thought about Heritage Hills keeping TC on the schedule. Would love to have been a fly on the wall in the room for that discussion.
  23. I can tell you that last year their 8th grade team was almost all 7th graders and even with that was very good and a physical bunch. Under the old conference schedule their 8th grade has a chance to win it all this season. I just bring this up to point out it isn't like the cupboard is empty.
