  1. I'm telling ya...the show will go on even with a chunk of schools not participating. Which is better than a condensed spring schedule any day of the week. Because one thing is certain, having to manage "cases" and preventative measures won't be gone in the spring either. Vaccine or not.
  2. I am hearing momentum has clearly swung to playing as scheduled.
  3. Due to Kentucky pushing back the start of their season, Gibson Southern is now looking for a week 2 game on 8/27 or 8/28.
  4. Athletes who do not spend time in bars and nightclubs. Athletes who don't fly. Smaller numbers. Fortunately common sense takes one farther with COVID-19 than does resources. By "working" to many think that means ZERO cases. More than a few HS programs in our state have already managed "cases" successfully without major outbreaks. In many instances postponing is just kicking the can down the road in an effort to be a fast follower as opposed to doing the hard work of moving forward and taking the lead.
  5. I would start with immediate family of players (including grandparents if the player so choses) only plus media. Then move to a 50% capacity model whereby the number of players is divided into 50% capacity and tickets are given out by the players depending on the local COVID-19 situation as determined by the school corporation.
  6. I read a Chatard player quote someplace regarding this years state championship where he said, and I am paraphrasing: We knew we had to step it up this season because we didn't want to be the only class at Chatard without a state championship. I assume that he meant that every "class" has had a championship at some point in their 4 year tenure at the school?
  7. None of the above. The best option for Indiana is to play as scheduled as long as your school is open for face to face.

  9. The lesson should be follow science not fear. This letter is a joke. This whole thing is a huge exercise on how to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
  10. All sports fired up in July....basketball leagues....travel baseball...soccer (various levels of COVID-19 prevention at these events, but mostly none at all). Now is the time more than ever to limit anything not in season. But in our keeping up with the Jones' culture...that isn't' going to happen. If someone is charging for it, parents will buy it. It's the scholarship or bust mentality and it is MUCH stronger than the fear of COVID-19.
  11. What was the goal of the March shutdown? The goal was to flatten the curve to the point hospitals wouldn't be over run during a return life. For now we can only manage this....it doesn't go away. Let's return to life and manage this!
  12. There will be lots of solutions district by district. To do this right it there isn't a one size fits all solution. Football can continue in Indiana without 100% of schools participating. There is just too much data from around the world that clearly show opening up schools won't change the trajectory of hospitalization or death rates. It also appears most schools will have a virtual option. I like that fact that if there are folks that truly fear for the safety of their child they also will have options. I say that in full view of the sun that there are places in this country that won't have a lot of options.
  13. Did you think “numbers” were going to go down after our reopen? Case numbers are fearporn and a simplistic view of a complex issue. Going back to school and sports isn’t going to make things worse in Indiana in terms of “numbers” that matter. Remember, crude case counts are only newsworthy when they are RISING.

  15. If an official has to quarantine due to being in the “same game” as a known positive...somebody is doing it wrong.
  16. We will play. There will be a lot of shifting and potential rescheduling. The state is going to allow the schools that can play to do just that.
  17. I hereby declare that from this day forward any school at any level or any professional organization that modifies it’s mascot name due to public pressure related to “political correctness” shall have its name automatically and legally modified to be, “The Vaginas”.

  21. Don't a lot of schools in indiana have more of a "jazz" band to play at basketball and even football games that isn't associated to the "marching" band at all?
  22. Ever see the football schedule at ND?....your honor, I rest my case.
  23. Wow...my grammar there is superb. I should stick to posting from a PC where I can actually see the characters I’m typing.
