Nah, teams improve during the ebbs and flows of the season. Head to head is my #1 factor when creating these. Common opponents and how each team fares can give folks an idea but there are other variables that must be taken into account such as when the game is played, the venue, weather, etc. The reason I moved Roncalli in front of Carmel/BD was precisely what you mentioned when it came to the Male/Trinity dynamic. As far as why I hold CG to a higher standard is the fact that they have not lost to an Indiana team in 2+ years. I need to see it to believe it (perhaps unfair). I said the same thing about Westfield and now think I firmly have them where they belong based on 2022 results. I was a bit bullish on them due to their domination of the HCC. Wins also gain/lose significance as opponents’ seasons play out. Suddenly LC/BD’s wins over Warren don’t carry as much weight to me. I did move Brownsburg ahead of CG after last nights destruction of a Zionsville team for which I have a lot of respect. I now think those top NINE teams may be interchangeable as Roncalli/Fishers are playing their way into that conversation. Thanks for reading.

Zero quality in state wins and double digit losses to the only quality teams on their schedule. The King win was fool’s gold. I just can’t.

Basically a five game conference schedule with an extra bye (when NC is on the schedule). Then you have two teams(Pike/Warren) whose offenses hand out gifts every Friday nights and spot the other team 14 points. All done in front of dozens of fans because each administration is terrified those in the stands won’t behave so they lock up each home game like it’s a red carpet VIP only event. Like I said above, CG and Carmel are being proven right and laughing their asses off right now. A far cry from what folks thought a few short months ago…

Correct. It’s a cop out. Letting the idiots win…and it’s being adopted by more schools than just Pike. These last two Fridays, Warren and Ben Davis have cut off ticket sales at 4 PM and are doing online sales only. Nothing says we are out of touch more so than making it harder for the average fan that just wants to check out a local high school game on Friday night and support his/her community. Hate to say this and I know it is going to piss you off but Center Grove and Carmel are looking smarter with each passing day. This nonsense is sorta proving them right.

I actually think I agree with this statement. Roncalli/New Pal are better than any 5A school by two scores in my opinion. I also think Chatard and maybe Gibson Southern/Brebeuf/West Lafayette could make a run at the 5A title.

I'm not sure New Pal could hold their own on a week week basis in the MIC quite yet. A gauntlet of Warren, LC and BD in a 3-4 week span is tough for a team with such a depth disadvantage. Now, in a one game scenario I think they could defeat all three and am tempted to even say they would be favored over all three if the contest were this weekend. NEVER thought I would say that a few short years ago.
