Best topic- responses I have ever seen on here. Kudos gentlemen.

    Buckeyes - Tough Nuts

I was going to say "Struggles to spell" for the Buckeyes.

You all continuously spelling a 4 letter word an entire athletic event is relatively comical.

    Fantastic topic lol

12% using various legal supplements, sure...

12% using the illegal juice, NO SHOT. If so, I'd have won A LOT more games (or so I'd like to believe). 😂

I actually think... "12% using various legal supplements" is probably a low number. I know for a fact, it would be for ours.

what a bs study. here is a small list of things that would qualify for "enhance appearance, muscle mass, or strength".

    1. hair gel
    2. anything you can buy at gnc

whoever wrote this should be shunned from society for intentionally misleading people

    Bingo

I’d be willing to bet that most kids are referring to creatine and weight gainers. When asking kids if they use anything to enhance their appearance that leaves a lot to interpretation. “12% of boys reported using products to enhance appearance, muscle mass or strength” vs “12% of boys reported using steroids” would have been more in line with the clickbait headline. The author clearly doesn’t know the difference. And he refers to “one study” for his data set. A quick peek at his LinkedIn says he has “research experience”. This article might be the full extent of that experience.

This is the actual cited reference from the article “According to a 2016 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the prevalence of PED use among high school athletes in the United States ranged from 2.7% to 4.0%, depending on the specific sport.6 Another study found that 8% of girls and 12% of boys used products to improve appearance, muscle mass, or strength, and 3.3% of high school students admitted to using steroids.7

“3.3% of high school athletes admitted to using steroids” is the actual number.

    This is the cited study:

    • Dandoy C, Gereige RS. Performance-enhancing drugs. Pediatr Rev. Jun 2012;33(6):265-71; quiz 271-2. doi:10.1542/pir.33-6-265
It’s from 2012. Not sure that it qualifies as “still a major issue”.

Why did I waste my time going down this rabbit hole? I must be bored out of my skull this morning.

Zero percent chance there are 12% of kids using steroids lol

However, as all folks who are impartial know....slotting privates based on enrollment alone doesn't make much if any sense.

It was stated "Southern Big" vs. "Southern Small"-- so I didn't understand why 4 schools bigger than Memorial were in the small. So that's what wouldn't make sense to me.

    Same with Providence.

I also don't care, and I'm bored. Rather than stating "oh wow, great job"--- I preferred to discuss it more.

Some of these already exist and some are my thoughts of what Conferences should look like from Central to Southern Indiana.

Why would Providence be in the HHC and not Brownstown, Madison, or Scottsburg?

    Great exercise though

Also--- Central, Bosse, Harrison, and I believe Vincennes all have more students than Ev Memorial

    2A Sectional 37

Apparently they couldn't find a way to squeeze LCC into this one in place of Monrovia!

I mean, looking at a map, it'd be hard to argue against those schools being in the same sectional, yeah? The splitting Indy like a pie, at least in 2A, 2 years ago was massively stupid.

That's awesome. I do remember playing in some muddy/rainy games at Salem--- 2006+2008.

Then, I think, in 2002--- that game was a torrential downpour.

    ----------------------------------------------

The field and pressbox definitely needed these facelifts, same ours when we replaced it.

    2008 only --- 2006 wasn't a rain game. I did get stiff-armed into oblivion in the 2006 game.

Work has begun on the Salem field. My understanding is it will be completed in the middle of July. The press box will be done after the season.

Does anyone have any idea as to when the IHSAA will release the new sectional alignments for the next 2 seasons?  It was my understanding that they would be released a week or so ago.

this coming Monday, they met last Monday

In 2022, the Executive Meeting was held May 3rd, with the alignments being announced later that day.

The next executive meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday.  Look for them to be announced later that day.

When Lutheran dismantled Triton Central early on, and later seeing TC in person and their continued success to semistate, it was a sign to me that 2A may be suspicious. They are a decent team and program under Tim Able, but were driven by one superstar at that level. One player can only do so much, unless you are James Banks, who created absolute chaos.

mmmm... TC's best WR didn't play against North Posey.

I believe Clarksville will be installing turf this summer.

HECK YEAH! I hope like heck you guys can build that program back into a power.

When I was a SO, 2006, you guys were awesome. Respectfully, the field and stadium need upgrades. Also.. you guys have the BEST burgers.

Very rarely will I encourage someone to discontinue their fight, but this fight really isn't going anywhere. Best to move on.  I'm all in for top notch high school facilities.

He's a troll. There is nothing else to this. In every one of these threads, he spouts his crap, has no substance to his argument, and does it condescendingly. Unfortunately, the mods have continued to allow him to post here.

This is an Indiana HS football forum. He acts like it's a forum for him to voice his displeasure about aspects of society. Confused he is, it ruins the board.

Not speaking for @BTF, but I think you are oversimplifying his comment.  I believe BTF is implying that taxes at a local level impact you at a much more personal level than federal taxes. I think most can agree that taxes are a waste of money, but I would rather pay more money to local taxes than federal taxes.  Big, bloated government taxes/spending at a federal level hurt everyone.

Also, I think this thread was made to discuss which schools currently have turf and which schools do not have turf.  @btownqbcoach1 saw the future, when he posted "I am sure some will take this thread as an opportunity to try and discredit/get butthurt about turf... but... meh." Boy, was he right....Maybe you should start your own thread "TURF SUCKS, SOD RULES"

It never stops. There is just too much "troll" in there to be respectful and take this "discussion" (I guess that's what you would call it) somewhere else. This isn't a "local government" forum lol ... I've asked him multiple times to start his own threads/discussions on whatever topic he'd like, but he isn't respectful enough for that, so here we are..... every day, with Muda as the center of attention. It's honestly embarrassing lol ... place could be a lot more fun.

Is this what your hatred is really about?  Because you didn't get to play on it, you feel kids today shouldn't?

I believe in wanting BETTER for kids today than what I had it.  Turf solves a lot of problems for some schools.

Take Sheridan.  By adding turf, not only does our football program get a top-notch field to play on, but the soccer games can all be moved to the turf as well.  For the past forever, they have been playing soccer on a very outdated soccer field that is off-campus, raising concerns for student and fan safety.  The old soccer field will now be town property, where the plan is to build a new larger capacity salt barn, which obviously benefits the community.  Also, the band will get to utilize the new turf.  Moving their practices from the blacktop parking lot where they have been since before the 00s, to a safer (and cooler) turf field.

Are some schools changing to turf just to spend extravagantly?  Sure.  However, to assume that EVERY school is doing that, is naive and ignorant.

Yeah just go research his others posts in this thread lolololol 🤪
