Brownstown and Eastern for football playing MSC schools
We get a huge amount of time on it, even with no soccer.

I think it was bundled into the Baseball/Softball/Soccer facilities purchase, they just wanted to wait until those were finished to work on the football field.
And while we're on the topic... I know soccer people don't like the turf for soccer, I don't have a lot of opinion there....
For baseball/softball it's tremendous. Keeping the batters boxes level probably being the biggest.

In Warrick County, Castle High School and Boonville High School will have field turf in 2024.
Yes yes. thought I had heard that, needed to confirm.

welp.. .more adjusting. That is all from 4 years ago when I was on here trying to get posters to tell me what fields had which playing surface. I always questioned that one.

AD a former groundskeeper at a somewhat prestigious golf course.
I mean, those are two pretty solid fields. Two of the better grass fields, consistently, that I've ever coached/played on.
Salem/Corydon fields were poor. (just like ours was before we replaced it)... again, not a shot at either of those schools, just the reality.
NH's field isn't bad, huge crown, which was annoying as a QB. They also have hills in the back of each endzone lol

Heard Lowell is adding turf this offseason as well.
That one surprised me, that they still didn't have it. And I appreciate the info.

Wow, that will be a great change! A lot of these fields in this area haven't had major improvements in decades. They were nice at the time but times change.
All of our stadium was original (1965) when we replaced it.

I've not heard any specifics on the press box but it looks like it was also approved and was definitely due to be replaced.
The stands themselves seem to be in good shape still. I believe they were put in in the early 90's. Could use a good power wash though!
Yeah, it was as bad as ours. Kinda scary lol
Either way. Awesome they're investing in the youth.

Salem just approved turf for this coming school year. Has anyone else? Is there a Castle/Boonville update?
In 2023- Greensburg, Franklin Co, Purdue Poly, Attucks and maybe others added it last year.
Here is the breakdown of where the state currently is.. (or VERY close)
155/313= 49.5% currently have turf
149/313= 47.6% currently do not have tuf
couple of others don't have their own field/not sure where Tindley plays.
I am sure some will take this thread as an opportunity to try and discredit/get butthurt about turf... but... meh.

Looks like the playing surface at Salem will finally get an upgrade and should be ready for home opener in August.
This is exciting news!

Very exciting news. I had spoke with Seth Hobson last night and he said this went through... only replacing the press box, though? Which is VERY much needed to be replaced, but how old is the stadium itself?

We have 480 students, so 240-ish boys... 60-65 of those play football. We also don't really have anyone in the community that cares to have soccer.
