  1. Brownstown Central is looking for a JV game

    Week 3

Dates-- 9/7 or 9/9-- we prefer to play on Mondays, but Saturday is fine. It was a scheduled away game for us, but if we would need to host, that could be a possibility, if needed.

If you needed, you could PM me on here, as well.

By your logic they should never have to be in a rebuild if you have the "Genetics"  you claim.  Your new coach has had one winning season out of six.  Soon to be seven.

Throw in their socio-economic advantages and couldn't agree more.

Might want to do a little homework before you head down the legacy wrestling road.

    my goodness, you think? lol

You can't win at Madison or Jennings County. Not against the level of teams they have to play. Unfortunately HS athletics isn't like Collegiate athletics where you can recruit your roster. I know a few kids are recruited here and there but for the most part, you are what you are. Madison and JC have had good coaches. But they just don't have the athletes or the talent. It has to develop in the youth system and genetics plays a big part of that. We had a pretty good run in basketball down here at Floyd from 2012-2021 with coach Sturgeon. They probably had 20 kids that were 6"6 or taller in that timeframe. Some 6"9, 6"10, 7 foot tall. You can't teach that stuff. Area genetics plays a big part in HS Athletics success.

Outside of East Central.... who are you talking about?

Jennings County can compete just fine in football. They wouldn't have been blown out once this year had they been healthy, by no means am I saying they would have won every game... I don't think that, but significant injuries for them this season.

Like I said before, I know it's a football forum but other sports would benefit from this. I really think you could host a really profitable conference volleyball/boys and girls basketball tournaments with a bigger conference. In a world of streaming games, could an app for a conference be a way to make money? Maybe? When schools have to factor in increasing travel costs, does this help keep teams closer to home?

I would think the way things are aligned now, you could host a profitable basketball tourney for boys and girls.

MSC already does this for the middle schools. I feel like it goes over pretty well.

You always say that and your football schedule could actually be better. Makes no sense. You already play your 6 divisional opponents. You can still play Seymour. You can find two better opponents than Salem and Pekin if you want.

I don't see the point then. But I admit, didn't read your post closely enough, I had assumed this was going to mean we couldn't schedule Seymour.

Just tell Pekin/Madison to move to the PLAC lol

What is gained by this? I don't think Salem or BC would want to move on from playing each other. Very close proximity, good rivalry, well attended.

Eastern Facebook announced TJ Newton as HC. I haven't found anything on him. Maybe someone else knows something.

I worked with him for 2 years. Pekin hired a really good FB coach.

I propose something similar to this every year. Going to keep at it until it happens. I'm a really big fan of what the PAC has done with their Big/Small Divisions. We should steal this idea. Unfortunately, Perry Central I'm sending you to the Small PAC but I think it would be a great fit. Almost everyone would be on Central Time. Almost everyone is right off 64.

MSC Big Division (Charlestown, Corydon, North Harrison, Brownstown, Scottsburg, Madison, Silver Creek)

MSC Small Division (Eastern, Crawford County, Mitchell, Paoli, Springs Valley, West Washington, Salem)

Everyone would have 6 conference games and 3 non-conference teams.

I haven't figured it up but I bet the travel expenses would be less with this as well.

Also, this would create a really fun 16 team conference for other sports with Austin and Orleans being non-football schools.

I don't know much about wrestling but this might help the PLAC wrestling schools as well.

    I'd rather be independent.

I really have no idea on that. I know there are several really bad football programs across the river in a short driving distance. I’ve worked there in Football and Softball with KY teams.
Huge investment in facilities in the last few years, Coach Wilson was winning some games. I thought they were making some headway. Why do I get the feeling there’s more to the story.

Man... I am NOT trying to rain on Coach Wilson AT ALL here, he is a freaking standup dude. But I fail to see where they had made any headway.

Not that there isn't more to the story, just mentioning...

We play Eastern Pekin Week 3 in varsity at home.

We can travel on 9/7 --- which is also Labor Day weekend. I assume we could host, as well, if needed.

If interested.. you can DM me on here, or contact Coach May at rmay@btownccs.k12.in.us

Sorry sorry. For a JV game

How many is determined by where you finish in the conference.

    1st gets 8

    2nd gets 7

    3rd gets 6

    4th gets 4

    5th gets 3

    6th gets 2

There are also a K and P position that do not count toward your total. This year, we got the K and PC got the P so each got an extra kid on.

That's how we do it. Expect we don't do the K/P spots. I like that though.

Some great points have been made that Brown County lacks affordable housing/planning for people to stay and start a family to grow up there. Those people move away. I still have occasional contact with people who were/are in admin/coaching in that county. Another point that should be made is that the AD is a highly paid position there and they have essentially Michael Scott from "The Office" in that role. A hot mess.

    Isn't it everywhere?

Maybe this season's success provide initiative for more seating.

Coach Mullins has stuck it out and done very well for what he was given. It's definitely not an easy task to restart a program, especially at a predominantly basketball oriented school.

I want to believe they will put up some fight but my gut says HH runs wild. Regardless, I wish both teams the best and hope for an injury free game.

I didn't mean for it to come off as a shot at Scottsburg in any way.

Undoubtedly they have significantly improved since Coach Mullins has been there.

If anyone at the IHSAA ever needed a good example of why sectionals should be seeded this would be a great one.

Just not right for this to have not been the championship game. A successful group of kids worked their tails off and were robbed of one more week of HS football. Instead a team that started the tournament 3-6, who they beat 42-0, has the privilege of playing one more game only because of a lucky draw.

Meanwhile North Posey (10-1) faces off against Paoli (10-1) in what looks to be a slugfest to advance to regional. A true championship game. One could argue Triton takes an advantage in regional because they get to tune up a little in their final.

Something has to be done. Seeding just makes the most sense.

Great points man and I can't imagine a decent argument against them.

The lack of seeding wasn't my only complaint, but I'll just sound like sour grapes if I go into them more.

I'd more than settle for seeding the "top 2" teams in the sectional based on the Sagarin. Just the way I see it.

  13. Our game with Triton Central on Friday was one of the best HS football games I have been to. So well-played, and so well-coached. Starting six sophomores defensively we were worried going against TC's experience and their D1 QB... we battled.

Long story short.... we led 17-14 with 1:30mins to go in the game and had Triton 3rd and 15. The game was 0-0 until under 5 mins to go in the 3rd.

No regrets, but that game never should have happened in round 2. Hope they can get the sectionals done correctly this go around in the spring. Congrats to Triton, they were really good on Friday, and good luck to them the rest of the way.
