  1. As a fan I had not seen BD this year. Only what was said on here and other social media pages. It appears our coaching staff was aware since they put the QB under center, did not run many jet sweeps, things that had worked. When you have not seen a team due to other areas you never know. Their quickness is what struck me. How fast they ran into the line and got through and their pursuit. It is a very interesting concept and can see where teams would have trouble with it
  2. That was the turning point. 2 interceptions deep in BD territory and getting no points did not help that and the safety were 9 of the points scored BD was a lot quicker, stronger, and deeper than SJ Their defense was quick. It looked like all linebackers and defensive backs. no real line man The lack of offense caught up with SJ when the defense could not hold the other team Still a heck of a season Nice stadium at Dwenger too and parked at the middle school and got right out back to 69 to head for home BD students had a nice showing as well
  3. I am making the drive and looking forward to a well-played, hard-fought game. No real expectations because of the way this year have gone and where things are now. Many expected Mishawaka and East Noble. Well, they get the 2 teams that beat both of them. The winner goes to Lucas oil.
  4. What is the seating of the stadium at Dwenger?
  5. The last 3 teams the Huskies played all had played better competition coming from the NLC and the Region. That did not seem to be a factor up until this point. Hobart was much bigger with some athletes and only gained 99 yards for the game.
  6. I am not sure many people expected these two teams to be playing for a trip to Lucas Oil and a chance to play for a state championship. This is the match up in the 4A North Semi- State. Both teams have defenses that has surrendered less than 10 points a game this year. Dwenger has lost to Roncalli (in the 4A South Semit State) and FW Northrop. St. Joe only lost to Penn. On paper will this be another defensive tussle on the field?
  7. I have seen Penn in action. Their aerial attack can hit you from different people not just one primary. You may try to take their big name out of the game but there are others. Their QB is good size and they have the typical tough running backs.
  8. I start a post on this because of Myles McLaughlin. The kid has been unreal his whole career. The community is ready for this team to keep moving towards Lucas Oli. Can the Hornets stop the one-man wrecking crew and contain the rest?
  9. Why do I think Penn is on a mission and that Carroll is just another team along the way Both teams have played Elkhart Can Carroll stop the Penn passing attack?
  10. Hobart comes to South Bend with a 10-2 record. The won the sectional by averaging over 40 points a game. The beat Lowell handily in the sectional championship after losing to them in the regular season. The Brickies D was good now it seems the offense is catching up. St, Joe won what many call the toughest 4A sectional in the state beating Mishawaka. The Huskies D has carried them this year as the offense has navigated through a litany of injuries. The defense has to play like they did against Mishawaka, Both teams played New Prairie (comparing scores just for a common opponent) Hobart won 50-14 St Joe won 43-13 Regional Championship on the line at Fr. Bly Field Friday night.
  11. The defense showed up. The offense controlled the ball and took time off the clock. It was a great high school game
  12. I think Penn's passing game if the line gives the QB times could make waves against Crown Point. They have the big receiver, a couple of smaller, quicker ones. Their QB is a big guy able to see the field. The one lineman who likes to talk needs to keep his mouth shut and let his play speak for him and the team. I think this is a Penn team that could go down state and some of their skilled people are underclassman
  13. Marian the 3rd NIC team playing for a sectional championship goes to Know in a 3A Sectional Championship Battle The Knights struggled in the regular season but have won 2 games in tournament action. Now they get to try and stop the Know Redskins and their QB
  14. St Joe 10-1 goes over to Steel Stadium to play Mishawaka 10-1 in the 4 A sectional final The Mishawaka offense will be a big test for the St Joe Defense
  15. Crown Point 10-0 comes to Freed Field to play Penn 10-0 Things will be rocking come Friday night. Anxious to see how CP play the Penn passing game.
  16. Well, the St. Joe D won the game last night. A very entertaining high school game. Northwood may be young as I was told but they will be a force in the NLC if the pieces come together and the players develop. SJ had too many fumbles/interceptions moving forward. But it was a win and moves on to the game every fan expected. Penn as well gets their game in the finals Marian gets to try and stop the Know train next week
  17. N'ridge has lost to FW North, Elkhart, Plymouth, Concord, N'wood Mish, and Warsaw. Only 2 games lost were by 2 scores. Yes, SJ better come out and be ready for a battle regardless of their record.
  18. Friday, Oct. 31 Penn at Portage, 7:30 pm Carroll at Elkhart, 7 pm Kokomo at Adams, 7 pm Northridge at St. Joseph, 7 pm Calumet at Marian, 7:30 pm Penn goes to winless Portage. Should be a chance to play a lot of kids and rest the starters Elkhart/Carroll - best of the games it appears. Will the real Elkhart show up? Kokomo comes 90 miles north to play Adams. The Kats are 3-6. The Eagles are 4-5. A toss up game? Calumet comes to Marian. Calumet is 6-4. Could Marian make it to the sectional finals? Northridge come to SB to play St Joe. Raiders are 3-7 but lost some close game to the top tier tams in the NLC. St Joe comes n hoping to move on to the sectional championship. This too could be a close game
  19. NORTHERN INDIANA ALL TIMES EASTERN CONFERENCE ALL GAMES W-L Pts OP W-L Pts OP Streak Penn 7-0 331 45 9- 0 380 80 Won 9 St. Joseph 6-1 206 83 8- 1 268 89 Lost 1 Elkhart 5-2 235 135 6- 3 281 177 Won 2 Adams 3-4 80 175 4- 5 121 236 Lost 1 New Prairie 3-4 198 290 3- 6 226 373 Won 1 Riley 2-5 142 197 4- 5 210 203 Won 1 Marian 1-6 117 231 2- 7 145 280 Lost 6 Washington 1-6 111 264 2- 7 163 302 Lost 3 With teams in 5A and 6A have the bye week the following teams, the following teams start sectional play Friday, Oct. 24 New Prairie at Hobart, 7:30 pm Plymouth at Washington, 7 pm Riley at St. Joseph, 7 pm Marian at River Forest, 7:30 pm New Prairie gets to travel to Brickie Bowl where the Brickies have had a good season. Plymouth comes to South Bend to play Washinton. The P should make their way back home happy. Marian goes to River Forest where the Knights endured a down year. RF is 4-5 Riley comes to St Joe - A repeat first round sectional game (same last year but Riley hosted). The Cats ended the year with a win. They played St Joe tough 2 weeks ago. The Huskies have to come back from the game with Penn. Expect the same type of games as 2 weeks ago.
  20. It will be an emotional game, and the St Joe guys need to control their emotions. Game is won on the field and not with the mouth. It is one play at a time and see how the game plays out on the field.
  21. There was one fumbled caused when they hit the Elkhart QB in the end zone fumbled and St Joe recovered. On the first play of the game, a running play to the left the SJ running back fumbled and another SJ player ran it back to the right and skirted down the sidelines outrunning everyone into the end zone
  22. Well, winning games that we should (have lost to Lakeland in the past). Overcoming the loss of our returning starting QB who is out for the year before it started. A strong senior class with good leadership, New Prairie and Marian being down has attributed. Overcoming the loss of Hurley and another player who went to Adams. I figured {Penn would be touch with their transfers/move in. Elkhart has talent but will it come together as a real team. I think it just all came together to this point. After winning less than 40% of the games the past 4 years it is a turn around. The next key will be to sustain it. Wehn the year began without knowing of loses from last year I had 5-win, 3 toss ups, 1 a battle. So, we won the toss ups now into the battle
  23. ALL TIMES EASTERN CONFERENCE ALL GAMES W-L Pts OP W-L Pts OP Streak Penn 6-0 293 39 8-0 342 74 Won 8 St. Joseph 6-0 200 45 8-0 262 51 Won 8 Elkhart 4-2 214 135 5- 3 260 177 Won 1 Adams 3-3 80 154 4- 4 121 215 Won 2 New Prairie 2-4 154 255 2- 6 182 338 Lost 1 Riley 1-5 117 180 3- 5 185 186 Lost 3 Marian 1-5 100 206 2- 6 128 255 Lost 5 Washington 1-5 76 220 2- 6 128 258 Lost 2 Friday, Oct. 17 Elkhart at Adams ©, 7 pm Marian at Riley ©, 7 pm Penn at St. Joseph ©, 7 pm Washington at New Prairie ©, 7:30 pm Elkhart has not been the total team many expected. Adams is at .500 as the best of the SBCSC. Elkhart has the athletes Riley seems to not have jelled as a team with the talent they have. Marian has been a disappointment. Which team wants it more in this neighborhood rivalry? Washington has some athletes, but their numbers are low. QB has been hurt. New Prairie adjusting to a new coach and a young team. Penn @ St. Joe - No one expected these 2 teams to enter this game 8-0. Maybe one of them. Penn has played the better non-conference schedule. The atmosphere at Fr. Bly Field should be electric come Friday night. St. Joe has to play the perfect game and eliminate the penalties and turnovers that have happened the past couple of weeks. Penn will come in and play their game as they have all year.
  24. 42-12 SJ over Washington. Set up the match up next week against Penn. More in week 9
