  1. When the new SJ was opened all Indiana signs were removed or not used. The football helmets got rid of the arrows. For most of the time it was "In Name Only". The tribe wrote every school in the country with the nickname of an Indian etc. Saugutuck and Hartford, Michigan both got rid of Indians. When they announced the committee and the next day the tribe hit the media circus around here it was over and then with the diocese, done. Funny they never released the survey to even alumni. Regardless, I will always be a St. Joe Indian but it is time to move on. I wonder what Knox, Anderson, and others might end up doing.
  2. Well the local tribe has sent letters to every schools with an Indian nickname demanding a change. The forced a little town in Michigan to do it and then paid $ 300,000 to cover the cost. I am not surprised this happened. When the Tribe went to the media after the school announced the study it was doomed. A lot will depend on the diocese and the administration. SO they will do the process again of meetings and surveys and then pick a new name. Fr. Bly had told alumni for many years before his death that if the nickname was changed he wanted the "Rams". In his memory and honor I would say yes to that. Time will tell. But a Columbia Blue and WHite helmets like the Rams would be pretty sweet
  3. REAKING: Rising 4 NorthWood WR @nitrooo.3 tells me he will be transferring out of michiana and will play his senior season at IMG Academy in Florida. Tuggle released his top 10 which includes Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, Penn State, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Florida, Auburn, Michigan State and Oregon. Best of luck! #michianafootball
  4. The news that the 3 schools are leaving at the end of 24 is not surprising. With the future of Clay still up in the air it is hard to figure out what is going to happen. Will Penn and Elkhart maybe go independent in football to avoid play the weaker SB schools that do nothing game nor gate wise? Could SJ, Marian, NP, Washington, Riley, Adams form a 6 team conference should Clay be out of the picture? Would the big 2 stay? Could the SB public schools be left conference less like Hammond and Gary were? Lot of unanswered questions for the AD's and Principals to figure I cannot see any school joining the NIC due to some teams do not travel well
  5. the facebook page said this would start once the Cathedral contract is over in 2024
  6. They are trying to right size the corporation and try to reestablish boundaries Under the 2 high schools freshman would be in the their own building Under 3 high schools Adams 1502, Riley 1883, Washington, 1055 Under 2 high schools Adams 1831/622 Washington 1451/536 They are trying to repurpose space to right size without losing a building to a charter school They propose to tear down the academic side of Clay and make it a sports facility
  7. Last night the group looking at downsizing/right sizing the corporation outlined 3 ideas. One has SB with 4 high schools. Another 3 high schools. The last 2 high schools Under the scenario Clay would be gone in 2 of them Riley would be gone in the last group. The 2 high school concept would leave Adams and Washington
  8. I wish there was a venue in Indiana that would look at a weekend and bring in some top teams. I am not sure if you could do this but think if ND hosted 2-3-2 games on Fri- Sat- Sun bringing in teams from all over to play teams in the country that play allover. Like the used to in Cincinnati
  9. Clay has their own field behind what once was the high school - grass field Riley plays at Jackson Field - nice stadium that would be awesome with turf (equal seating on both side) but it is grass as well
  10. Fans in the region is there talent in the Griffith schools? Under Radtke they had some teams but have not followed them for a few years. Their basketball team had a few years of great success and just wonder what the potential is there?
  11. Is this any different in many schools? Even when winning some players and parents are never satisfied.
  12. The QB from Texas (Card) said he is going to Purdue
  13. This is just what is on John Harrel's sight. Penn, Elkhart, New Prairie all are not complete. Some SB schools have an open date Fort Wayne schools sure wasted not time getting better quality games too.
