  1. Friday, Sep. 29 Elkhart at Adams ©, 7 pm LaVille at Glenn, 7 pm Marian at Angola, 7 pm Prairie Heights at Bremen, 7:30 pm Riley at New Prairie, 7:30 pm St. Joseph at Penn ©, 7 pm Washington at Jimtown ©, 7 pm Saturday, Sep. 30 North Newton at Clay, 1 pm Riley takes their 6-0 record to New Prairie. Friday night we will see if the Cats are ready for better competition or is their weaker schedule resulted in the 6-0 start.
  2. Well, Elkhart came out and put up 19 in the 1st qrt. But again some key mistakes held SJ back They fumbled in the red zone. Another time they got there and turned it over on downs and later they were inside the 35 and could not make a first. Plus a couple of key penalties kept Lions drives moving. Once again they played with but have one more hurdle to leap to make some of these games a win. Surprised RIley only put up 26 on Washington. Now we could see if they are real or not when they go to New Prairie. Prairie. They will see a whole different kind of team than the schedule they have played. No real surprises other than maybe Bremen getting beat as bad as they did
  3. Why does it seem that N'wood seems to have the team that could do things and something happens or goes array? On paper they always look good and promising and then whether it be chemistry or other issues something happens and what was promising ends up no where near where near the potential. This is just an observation. You have take what potential there is and transform it to the field. Just seems like something is lacking or missing.
  4. Hartman is a game changer. he makes everyone a better player. Funny how many thought Buchner was the golden boy at one time. We have a real QB. He has to stay healthy. While everyone talks about the big three the Duke game looms a week after OSU. Duke is the real deal based on what I have watched. That is a huge trap game. It will get crazy here starting on Thursday and then you have Game Day as well. I wonder how many ND fans gave up their tickets to the fans in red. We shall see come Saturday
  5. Friday, Sep. 22 Jimtown at Tippecanoe Valley, 7 pm Glenn at Bremen ©, 7 pm New Prairie at Adams ©, 7:30 pm Penn at Marian ©, 7 pm St. Joseph at Elkhart ©, 7 pm Washington at Riley ©, 7 pm Saturday, Sep. 23 Jimtown{} at Clay, 12 pm Here are this week's games in the NIC Some interesting match ups. Could this be the week Clay gets a W even against a JV team?
  6. New Prairie 29 St Joe 26 - it was an interesting high school game. St. joe could not stop the NP QB and he ran well and sure he had 20 yrs. rushing or so it seemed. NP took down the SJ running game which meant SJ had to pass the ball a lot and they did. The NP pass defense seemed to be on their toes all night. I will say this there were some strange calls by the refs and ball placement that had my head shaking. The crew seemed like they had not worked together but let's just say strange. St. Joe did fumble at the NP 3 yd. line in the 4th qrt. which would have made it a possible wild ending. Plus a key penalty on a NP punt did not help. But in the end NP won the game. NP is a good team but not where they were last year at this time in my view.
  7. Friday, Sep. 15 Bremen at Jimtown ©, 7 pm Elkhart at Penn ©, 7 pm Glenn at Knox, 7:30 pm New Prairie at St. Joseph ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Marian ©, 7 pm Clay at South Bend Washington ©, 7 pm Riley at Indianapolis Washington, 7:30 pm Bremen - Jimtown - an interesting match up Elkhart - Penn used to be talked about but Penn this year should dominate Glenn - Know - Knox is undefeated and Glenn is coming off beating Jimtown - home team the favorite NP - SJ - This will be a measuring stick of where the SJ program has progressed to. Hard to tell after past 3 weeks. SJ D has to come to play. Seems NP is improving as well. This could be an interesting game Adams - Marian - Surprise will be if the Knights do not win after seeing Adams last week Clay - SB Wash - Which team will come out and play and avoid mistakes Riley - Indy Wash - Expect another Riley win could be big based on who they have played
  8. As we move to the mid point of the season, I look forward to what the rest of the conference schedule means to all schools. There are some intriguing match-ups at least on paper right now
  9. I applaud BD and any Indiana school that reaches out to teams from other states and is willing to play them. Many say that playing tougher competition makes a team better come play-off time. Time will tell for some Indiana teams
  10. St Joe beat Adams 46-7. This team is playing better but we will see how much they have grown the next 3 weeks.. New Priairie comes to Fr. By Field next Friday night. I just want to see if the fist 4 games and the quality of the opponent stands up with the Cougars See Elkhart took in on the chin 55-0 to Massilon. Not sure why they scheduled that one Riley 76 Clay 0 really?
  11. thanks my correction noted in week 4 Well it was nothing fancy just rush to the kicker and not doing a good job with adjustments tec. Plus punter mishandled a snap early or could have been 4
  12. Friday, Sep. 8 Bremen at Triton, 7 pm Elkhart at Massillon Washington (Ohio), 7 pm Morton at Penn, 7:30 pm Glenn at Jimtown ©, 7 pm Marian at New Prairie ©, 7:30 pm Riley at Clay ©, 7 pm St. Joseph at Adams ©, 7 pm Washington at Calumet, 8 pm Bremen and Triton not sure what to think Elkhart is making the long ride to Massillion, Ohio to play at that famous venue Penn recovers from Cathedral by playing Morton, which battled Elkhart but still not sure about the Lions New Prairie welcomes Marian coming off a tough game with Brebeuf Glenn-Jimtown could be interesting Riley goes to Clay after a big rivalry game as the Colonials look for that win St Joe visit School Field and Adams in another neighborhood battle. Always an interesting game. After 2 not competitive games see how St Joe reacts. Adams coming off hard fought game with Riley Washington at Calumet - well, both teams struggling 0-3 v.s. 1-2. Calumet beat a weak EC Central WHS has scored only 19 pts in 3 games
  13. I will agree with the culture. There was little teaching/coaching last night. Lot of coaching bodies but not much as I saw working to improve. Their fundementals are not sound. I wonder how bad Gary West is since WHS beat them soundly. I have not seen Clay but Clay seems more sound at QB than WHS
  14. St. Joe beat Washington 51-0. it was 45-0 at half. SJ blocked 3 punts one for a TD other 2 deep in Panther territory. WHS is going to need a massive culture change like Riley is going through to turn the tide. Cathedral lead Penn35-0 at hslf and ended up winning 35-6. From the radio people the Irish dominated
  15. I think a lot will have to do with contracts. Penn is suppose to pick up Carmel I believe next year for 4. If they go to 7 conference games that menas probably week 1 or 2. If anyone knows Greg Humnicky, he does a lot of the scheduling for the NIC
  16. Friday, Sep. 1 Brebeuf Jesuit at Marian, 7:30 pm Morton at Elkhart, 7:30 pm Glenn at Angola, 7:30 pm Lowell at New Prairie, 8 pm Osceola Grace at Jimtown, 7 pm Penn at Cathedral, 7 pm Clay at Chicago Christian (Ill.), 7:30 pm Riley at Adams, 7 pm Washington at St. Joseph, 7 pm South Central at Bremen, 7:30 pm Penn's biggest test of the year this week when they travel to Cathedral. Win thins and the Kingsmen could be headed to 9-0 season. Will Elkhart right the ship against Morton? Glenn looks to recover from bring shut out by Riley NP - not sure what to think of them at this point. Jimtown - had 2 tough matches to being the year, know nothing about Grace Clay goes to Chicagoland...could they bring home that coveted victory? Riley and Adams in a neighborhood brawl. Riley to look to go to 3-0 Washington and St. Joe get together after not playing for awhile. Used to be a very heated rivalry years ago. SJ is a young team with only 13 seniors out of 63. The youngsters playing look like they could develop. See how they do again WHS. Will their QB be back? Bremen looks to continue their winning ways against South Central.
  17. Fort Wayne South has lost like 19 games in a row They are going thru a culture change Starting QB and RB were freshman The Bremen scored surprised me
  18. The Riley Ad posted they will be playing at Gary West on Friday The had week one open since last week and not sure how they ended up with 2 games
  19. Well, week # 1 of the NIC. Last season as we know it as 4 schools will be gone next season but here is the schedule. Clay starts their final season as a high school. Not sure why Riley is on here twice but this came from Harrell's sight. Boone Grove at Glenn, 7:30 pm Concord at Elkhart, 7 pm Culver Academy at Adams, 7 pm Bishop Noll at Clay, 7:30 pm Jimtown at NorthWood, 7 pm Lakeland at St. Joseph, 7 pm LaVille at Bremen, 7 pm Marian at Mishawaka, 7 pm New Prairie at LaPorte, 8 pm Penn at Valparaiso, 8 pm Riley at Attica, 7:30 pm Riley at West Side, 8 pm Washington at Hammond Central, 8 pm
  20. What if Penn joined the MIC in football only? Yes travel but some schools are going farther to play
  21. So, could Penn go independent in football and stay in the NIC? It seems this whole idea of leaving centers around football. If the NIC downsizes I am sure they may not want to lay Washington or Riley but they did pick up Hammond Morton which is a lateral move. In 5 years or less I suspect SB will be down to 2 high schools with the way they are losing kids. Penn would have Valpo and Mishawaka. Carmel is replacing Cathedral and they could always get them back. They may want to keep playing Adams. They have Elkhart. NP and SJ would I assume continue to play them Marian may too. Many parochial schools in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and KY are looking for games. I think they could work this out. Just a thought. Other sports can schedule more teams outside of the NIC so I have not heard a cry that all sports need to move on. The other key is does the DAC want to expand? Will their member schools want it or like it like it is?
  22. So, in a few weeks a new season for the NIC will begin. Any newsworthy items. Movement of kids? Transfers? What you expecting in this final year of the conference as we know it. Couple of things I have seen. Washington football had sent info out to kids at Clay I know, not sure if system wide. They are promoting their new coach and outlook. Not knowing how many kids will even go to Clay this yea, will they field a team. A parent out near I live has said they will. ANyone see of the scrimmages/-7 to have any thoughts
  23. Is it possible if one school cannot field a team and another school have low numbers of consolidating their numbers into one team? Not sure if this has been discussed before but just wondering.
