NIC team # 2 in a regional final The making of another outstanding game
-
A big game happening at Penn this Friday. This could be a great one One NIC team in a regional championship
-
Warsaw at Penn, 7 pm New Prairie at Culver Academy, 7:30 pm Glenn at Knox, 7 pm Bremen at LaVille, 7 pm So 4 NIC Teams are playing in sectional championships If Penn gets up on Warsaw and takes them out of their comfort zone, I saw Penn moves on Having seen both New Prairie and Culver Academy. NP has more than Culver does but they need to get off the bus ready to play Glenn goes to Know. Long time coaches Radtke and Barron, Gt feeling is Knox Bremen goes to their neighbor. Laville finally got by Andrean. They want to raise that trophy

NIC teams in play-off October 27
ASJCPUMA replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Through the years I have enjoyed high school football and basketball Went to many game that did not involved the team I follow. Interested in what local teams do. Last night I went up to Niles and watch them for 2/3 of the game. Their QB and RBs are athletic and quick. May go up there again next Friday. Whether we agree with the direction of the NIC it is what we have right now. The future, who knows? -
5a and 6A join the competition this week Elkhart (3-6) at Penn (8-1), 7 pm Concord (5-4) at Adams (1-8), 7 pm New Prairie (8-2) at Kankakee Valley (5-5), 8 pm Washington (3-7) at NorthWood (8-2), 7 pm Fairfield (6-4) at Glenn (6-4), 7 pm Wheeler (6-3) at Bremen (5-5), 7:30 pm Seems like the more competitive games are in 3A and 2A this week. The favorites in the top 4 games should move on to Sectional Championships (concord, Penn, New Prairie, Northwood)

Friday, Oct. 20 Hobart at New Prairie, 8 pm Washington at Plymouth, 7 pm NorthWood at St. Joseph, 7 pm Riley at Wawasee, 7 pm Jimtown at Fairfield, 7 pm Clay at Glenn, 7 pm Marian at West Noble, 7 pm Bremen at Bishop Noll, 7:30 pm Here are the games for the opening night of sectionals. The Hobart/New Prairie game is the eye catcher here. Off the filed the big news is the Adams QB Clark is now at Riley. Seems like an odd time to switch schools

Bremen JV at Clay, 7 pm Friday, Oct. 13 Bremen at Tippecanoe Valley, 7 pm Jimtown at Riley ©, 7 pm Glenn at Washington ©, 7 pm Marian at St. Joseph ©, 7 pm New Prairie at Elkhart ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Penn ©, 7 pm ©conference game Clay plays its last regular season game as a high school in the South Bend schools - Can they make it 3 in a row? Bremen - TV: TV has a special season happening and no change seen on that front Glenn -Washington: The Falcons should take care of the Panthers New Prairie -Elkhart: If all things are good with NP I see the Cougars winning. Surprised with the outcome of the Elk-Marian game last week Adams-Penn: Kingsmen are NIC champs. Will there be a running clock after halftime? Jimtown-Riley: Not confident here with RIley. They won the title last week and will they come out float or eager to win agaian. If Jimtown wins does that mean they do not share since they have one less win? SJ-Marian: The "HOLY WAR". You never know what to expect with this game. Both teams 4-4. Comparing scores I would give SJ a slight edge but then Marian beat Elkhart last week by a solid score. The early forecast is not promising with a large amount of rain expected at week's end. At least the game is on turf. SJ has to eliminate the holding calls that have plagued them recently as the first step in my mind. Expect anything at Fr. Bly Field Friday night

according to one of the refs last night it is not an if but it is 7 games in the NIC. Someone should ask Greg Humnicky. He is Mr. NIC -
N.I.C. Week # 8 - It's October
ASJCPUMA replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I felt the Penn D was the best D I had seen this season in the NIC and it proved out. Regardless of how healthy players were they attack and tackle well. Now how will it hold up to teams in the INdy area if they get there. That is another story. But they are very good in these parts -
Friday, Oct. 6 Bremen at Riley ©, 7 pm Culver Academy at St. Joseph, 7:30 pm Elkhart at Marian ©, 7 pm John Glenn JV at Clay, 7 pm Penn at New Prairie ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Jimtown, 7 pm Washington at Hamilton Heights, 7:30 pm Saturday, Oct. 7 Tippecanoe Valley at Glenn, 7 pm THE game is Penn at New Prairie - Having seen both teams they each have an offense with play makers. To me it seems Penn's pass offense which had many patterns last Friday night may give them the advantage. SJ threw the ball well against NP and Penn has a QB that can sling it. I give the D advantage to Penn as they are quick and react well. Games like this you never know what will happen but it appears Penn is in line to win the conference. Bremen - Riley - How will the Cats recover from their 1st loss? Bremen does not appear to have the team to stay with the Cats Elkhart - Marian - The Lions seems to be playing better. They have the athletes. Marian cannot look ahead to the "Holy War" Elkhart CA - St. Joe St. Joe comes back home after playing the big 3 in the past 3 weeks. With several starters out last week SJ still played hard and will have to do so this week. This game is usually an interesting game each year - SJ Adams - Jimtown - Adams has struggled I think more than people thought they would. Jimtown has played some tough teams out of conference - Jimmies Washington - Hamilton Heights - long bus ride to Hamilton Heights for the Panthers. The Huskies are 7-0 and shut out their opponents in the last 5 games. HH John Glenn JV - SB Clay - Clay tasted their win in a long time. They did not fare well with the last JV team they played. Maybe the taste of victory carries over. Tippy Valley - Glenn - Tippy Valley is 7-0 They beat Jimtown and last week West Lafayette. Have to lean to Tippy

N.I.C. outlook for 2024
ASJCPUMA replied to BLACKGOLD2007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
This is the third time I had heard that there will be 7 conference games and 2 non conference games. I have not heard if it will be 2 NC then 7 C or another way. Elkhart played Massilon, Ohio and Hammond Morton this year. SJ had FW South in week 2 and this was first year of 4. Week 8 has been Culver Academy so who goes? It seems AD's will be making scheduling changes with other schools. I also have heard baseball will play each other NIC school 2 times home/home -
Week # 7 in the N.I.C.
ASJCPUMA replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I find it interesting some of the comments. A coach comes in and if I recall won 1 game in 3 years. Is he a good fit for Riley? So far sounds it plus a coupe of kids who came in with their dad, a coach, helped. The NP line may not be their biggest but the strength in their upper body and arms I took notice when we played them. The have to be discipline enough to stop the NP QB but there are other weapons there. So you cannot focus on one but it is the main one. I have only read about RIley. So have to say it does sound like the best SB team since the WHS team that made it to state, This game will be a good indication until Riley gets to the sectional round. (Northridge, Northwood, Logansport, Plymouth, St. Joe, Washington, and Wawasee). But the game will be played on a nice night for football and see how it all plays out. -

Week # 7 in the N.I.C.

If Elkhart's athletes come to play it will be over early. The speed will run by the Eagles LaVille coming off a tough loss to Knox - think the Lancers will come out to win this one over Glenn Marian makes the drive to Angola and comes home with a win over the winless Hornets Bremen should handle Prairie Heights Will Riley be able to contain the NP QB is the first big question. Then throw in the young RB. Will NP dare the Cats to throw to stop the run. This game could be very interesting. This is where we will see how far Riley has come Penn is the class of the NIC it appears. While SJ has improved it is still working to correct some flaws happening. Penn to win but maybe not as big as some think Washington to Jimtown and a long bus ride home - Jimtown Is this the week Clay tastes a "V"? North Newton has a long bus ride up I-65 to the Toll Road to get to Clay. The game is at noon Saturday which is 11 a.m. in Newton Co. If the Colonials come out and play they should bring home the "W" -
Friday, Sep. 29 Elkhart at Adams ©, 7 pm LaVille at Glenn, 7 pm Marian at Angola, 7 pm Prairie Heights at Bremen, 7:30 pm Riley at New Prairie, 7:30 pm St. Joseph at Penn ©, 7 pm Washington at Jimtown ©, 7 pm Saturday, Sep. 30 North Newton at Clay, 1 pm Riley takes their 6-0 record to New Prairie. Friday night we will see if the Cats are ready for better competition or is their weaker schedule resulted in the 6-0 start.

NIC Action in Week # 6
ASJCPUMA replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well, Elkhart came out and put up 19 in the 1st qrt. But again some key mistakes held SJ back They fumbled in the red zone. Another time they got there and turned it over on downs and later they were inside the 35 and could not make a first. Plus a couple of key penalties kept Lions drives moving. Once again they played with but have one more hurdle to leap to make some of these games a win. Surprised RIley only put up 26 on Washington. Now we could see if they are real or not when they go to New Prairie. Prairie. They will see a whole different kind of team than the schedule they have played. No real surprises other than maybe Bremen getting beat as bad as they did -

NLC - 2023 Season
ASJCPUMA replied to NLCTigerFan07's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Why does it seem that N'wood seems to have the team that could do things and something happens or goes array? On paper they always look good and promising and then whether it be chemistry or other issues something happens and what was promising ends up no where near where near the potential. This is just an observation. You have take what potential there is and transform it to the field. Just seems like something is lacking or missing. -
Hartman is a game changer. he makes everyone a better player. Funny how many thought Buchner was the golden boy at one time. We have a real QB. He has to stay healthy. While everyone talks about the big three the Duke game looms a week after OSU. Duke is the real deal based on what I have watched. That is a huge trap game. It will get crazy here starting on Thursday and then you have Game Day as well. I wonder how many ND fans gave up their tickets to the fans in red. We shall see come Saturday

Friday, Sep. 22 Jimtown at Tippecanoe Valley, 7 pm Glenn at Bremen ©, 7 pm New Prairie at Adams ©, 7:30 pm Penn at Marian ©, 7 pm St. Joseph at Elkhart ©, 7 pm Washington at Riley ©, 7 pm Saturday, Sep. 23 Jimtown{} at Clay, 12 pm Here are this week's games in the NIC Some interesting match ups. Could this be the week Clay gets a W even against a JV team?

New Prairie 29 St Joe 26 - it was an interesting high school game. St. joe could not stop the NP QB and he ran well and sure he had 20 yrs. rushing or so it seemed. NP took down the SJ running game which meant SJ had to pass the ball a lot and they did. The NP pass defense seemed to be on their toes all night. I will say this there were some strange calls by the refs and ball placement that had my head shaking. The crew seemed like they had not worked together but let's just say strange. St. Joe did fumble at the NP 3 yd. line in the 4th qrt. which would have made it a possible wild ending. Plus a key penalty on a NP punt did not help. But in the end NP won the game. NP is a good team but not where they were last year at this time in my view.

Friday, Sep. 15 Bremen at Jimtown ©, 7 pm Elkhart at Penn ©, 7 pm Glenn at Knox, 7:30 pm New Prairie at St. Joseph ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Marian ©, 7 pm Clay at South Bend Washington ©, 7 pm Riley at Indianapolis Washington, 7:30 pm Bremen - Jimtown - an interesting match up Elkhart - Penn used to be talked about but Penn this year should dominate Glenn - Know - Knox is undefeated and Glenn is coming off beating Jimtown - home team the favorite NP - SJ - This will be a measuring stick of where the SJ program has progressed to. Hard to tell after past 3 weeks. SJ D has to come to play. Seems NP is improving as well. This could be an interesting game Adams - Marian - Surprise will be if the Knights do not win after seeing Adams last week Clay - SB Wash - Which team will come out and play and avoid mistakes Riley - Indy Wash - Expect another Riley win could be big based on who they have played
