Elkhart High has an enrollment of over 3100 students and their combined football/basketball record is 4-23. I thought combining Central and Memorial would bring about a more competitive athletic program.

For some reason we are really struggling in athletics right now. I too thought when we combined things would be much better.

It is something to see how far the Northridge program has come in the last 12 years. Coach Wogomon got things started and Coach Eppley has kept it rising to new levels.

Great facility. We are so behind the times here at Elkhart. Locally I have seen Concords which is really nice and I hear Goshen's is outstanding as it's there old pool facility. Elkhart is still dealing with the facility they have used for years.

Redskins7391 sounds like a good plan. I would think with the need for teachers #2 shouldn't be a problem. I know we have some of the same issues here in Elkhart. Got to recruit and why his recruiting back ground should help.

With the way teachers are in high demand these days I would think it wouldn't be hard for the new coach to get his new staff positions. He probably already had coaches in mind when he applied for the job.

3 Reported IHSAA sideline issues is very concerning. Does sound like the new coach has a re-build project on his hands. With his college experience I wonder if he will use any of those contacts to put together a coaching staff. Any word on the Wawasee job?

Redskins7391 you sound very connected to Goshen. Can you explain why kids aren't playing or transfer out? What in your opinion can the new coach do to fix these 2 issues?

Coach Wogomon did have an established record of success before coming to Goshen and coach Parks is the son of a previously very successful Goshen coach. What I don't understand is the comments about kids leaving Goshen but yet their enrollment is growing. I looked at the enrollment rankings and they are listed as the 7th largest 5A school and are 100 kids shy of Warsaw from being the largest school in the NLC. I know here at Elkhart the enrollment has decreased some sense we went back to 1 high school.

I would think with 2000 kids at Goshen high School he would have some kids to target and encourage into playing. Hopefully they give him more time than the last coach.

These Varsity Guys you say that have moved on, wouldn't that be a big focus of the new head coach to get them to come back out. I read where Goshen was able to start him as a teacher right after the holidays which I would think is a big plus for next year getting him in the building that quickly.

I have heard that there are not many staff changes coming with Elkhart. Coach Curry pretty much sticking with the previous coaches.

Hard to believe that a school with 2000 kids can only field 39 kids for a football team. I know coach Wogomon said a lot f kids quit right before the season. Probably why the new coaches history of being a recruiting coordinator was a plus for him getting the job. 12 coaches is a lot for only 39 players. Won't the new head coach be allowed to hire his own staff like Wogomon was?

I was surprised to read in the article about the new Goshen Coach that they didn't field either a Freshmen or a JV team last year. They are the 2nd largest school in the NLC. Makes sense they would hire a coach with a recruiting back ground.

Any word on Wawasee? Also now that Goshen has a head coach any word on staff changes there? I know coach Wogomon brought in a number of assistants two years ago including O.C. and D.C. and Associate Head Coach. Heard Elkhart won't make many changes having hired from with in.

Does anyone know if the new Goshen coach is any relation to Mike Hecklinski the hall of fame Mishawaka Marian coach who lead Marion to state champs in the 70's?

Looks like Goshen made a great selection. Hopefully Coach Hecklinski can return Goshen to winning seasons.

Now that it sounds like Goshen has filler their head coaching opening, any word on Wawasee's process? Seems like jobs are getting filled quicker than they used to.

I had heard that Goshen was moving quickly to get a new coach in place. Just sorry it didn't workout for coach Wogomon or Coach Parks. Last 2 Goshen Coaches have actually been former Goshen Players.

Now that Elkhart has named their new coach any word on Wawasee or Goshen's next coach.

Mishawaka may decide to stay in 5A seeing as they will still be in a sectional with South Bend Adams, Concord, and Goshen. They lost a heart breaker by a point to Snider who went on to win 5A and will be moving up to 6A.

Great Idea. Need to get the Indiana Department of Education on board first before IHSAA has anything to do with it.

Elkhart has named Coach Curry the Defensive Coordinator this past season their new head coach. Coach Curry is a Elkhart Grad.
