  1. Thanks @Titan32 I do like that CalPreps better than Sagarin or MaxPreps. @DumfriesYMCA With SoS, how do they compute out of state opponents? Does it have a significant effect? If I’m just heading down a rabbit hole of nonsense (because they all use their own systems) just let me know. Being new to the state I am just looking for a way to objectively compare teams. If this is an old issue and has already discussed to death then I apologize for rehashing it.

  2. Defensive PI called in the endzone. Ball caught for the TD. Extra point kicked as normal. 15 yards DPI applied on the kickoff. I thought that it was either TD (penalty declined) or accept the penalty. As DPI isn’t a dead ball foul was this applied correctly?

  3. Just curious as I learn my way around the intricacies of Indiana HS football. I’ve learned that teams can play against an opponent of any other level and it is up to the individual teams to set their own schedules. Why is there such a difference though? I look at the schedule of the top ten teams in 3A and see a wide variety of opponents. Is that due to historical rivalries, some schools just having bigger conferences of similar sized teams, travel?

  4. Ha ha ha. I have “strikes”. Didn’t know that there was a rule book for posts that meet your personal standards.  I’m pretty sure that nothing I have said was a complaint (it was merely a recounting of an episode in a game) nor is there a “chip on shoulder”. I find discourse interesting. Maybe you can enlighten me as to what the previous poster meant when he referred to Chatard as “4A”. Did he get a strike for whining? Maybe you can tell me a little bit about Hamilton Heights while you are educating me on proper decorum. With 5.4k posts you seem to have many opinions on many things. I’m eagerly looking forward to soaking up more of your wisdom. I guess that I should feel pretty lucky that in my long winded post the only thing you could argue with was me mentioning “recruiting”. Uh oh. Did I just get my third strike. Before I go, is there anything else that I am not allowed to discuss on your board?

  5. Unfortunately a really well played game was left with a big "what if" from the refs. First offf, Hanson is a stud. He probably had 45 of their 57 carrries in the game. Stop him and you stop them. Problem is, stopping him is difficult. He is tireless. As for the rest of the game, with about 5 minutes left and the score tied 14-14 Roncalli had the ball 4th and 7 at the Chatard 35 (ish). Affter the snap, the sideline judge on Roncalli's sideline drops a flag at the 30. They had a sideline interference call earlier in the game go against them. Roncalli's QB scrambles, throws a ball into the flat and the receiver converts and takes the ball down to the 3 yard line. After a brief chat amongst the refs, the sidline jusdge walks over, picks up his flag and proceeds as if nothing happened. What?!?! Now, this may have not changed the outcome but it cerrtainly changed the flow of the game and impacted thee ending. Roncalli missed that field goal, Chatard had a (questionable?) fumble around the 50 as they attempted to drive and win it. Roncalli drove down and kicked thee game winner with 4 seconds left. By the way, their kicker has a big leg. Unfortunate ending as both teams showed a ton of heart and grit. Play that game 10 times and the ending is probably 5 wins each. Good luck to both teams and, hopefully, the refs improve and don't blow it when one of these games actually matters.
