Uniwatching the semi state round
adambetz replied to adambetz's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
2A: Adams Central at Andrean The Flying Jets are another team that goes all white uniforms on the road, with red helmets on top. I know they have a pair of greyish/silverish pants in the closet somewhere, and they've worn those with both the home red top and the road white top in the past. The all whites look especially good this year. (photo courtesy of Adams Central Athletics) Andrean's bright red and soft gold are one of my favorite color combos in the state, and their jerseys are among the best in the state imo. They've gone gone gold/red/gold this year, an upgrade of the gold/red/red of the past. I believe they could also go gold/red/white, which might be nice. (photos courtesy of Andrean Football on Twitter and Andrean Highschool on instagram) Linton at Indianapolis Lutheran The Miners go red helmet, white jersey, red pants and it's a really good combo. They especially do a great job using that royal blue as a highlight color. Love the skinny block L logo as well. (photo courtesy of The Lintonian) The Saints have a very rich wine color jersey sandwiched between old gold helmets and pants. They have had maroon trousers in the past but I'm not sure if they have broken them out this year. Nice combo but would be better if they had a way of differentiating themselves from Brebeuf. Uniwatching the semi state round

3A: Batesville at Heritage Hills The Bulldogs do their best Duke impression on the road, and that's not a bad thing. All white with royal blue stripes is a classic look. (photo courtesy of TriStateFootball.com) The Heritage Hills Patriots have always reminded me of the late 90s early 2000s Buffalo Bills. They go red helmet, navy jersey, navy paints most of the time, but I've also seen them in red pants with the navy jersey and I really like the pop of color that it gives. (photos courtesy of Courier Press and Heritage Hills QB Club on Facebook respectively) Garrett at Fort Wayne Luers The road Railroaders go navy helmet, with all white everything else. I love Garrett's navy and maroon combo, and it makes for great striping. Pretty straightforward combo. You will notice a few of Garrett's players wearing guardian caps. (photo courtesy of OutsideTheHuddle) The Luers Knights have worn at least three different combos at home this year. All black everything with red trim, black helmets with all red uniform, and black helmets, with black jerseys over red pants. All three combos are great and work well with Luers' color scheme. 4A: East Noble at Mishawaka The visiting Knights have a great road combo of blue helmets with yellow face masks, white jerseys and bright royal blue pants. Just a good color palate with kinda a basic execution. Hopefully they will add some sort of graphic to the lids at some point. (photo courtesy of OutsideTheHuddle) The Cavemen of Mishawaka have FOUR different home options. They gone white/maroon/maroon, white/maroon/white, white/grey/grey and white/grey/white. My favorite combo personally is the white/maroon/white, its the most balance imo. (photos courtesy of South Bend Tribune) Martinsville at New Pal The Artesians have an interesting color combo, but so far the brownish-goldish-tanish pants have not found their way to the away kits, as it seems like they have been going red helmets/white jerseys/white pants on the road this year. Good look, good colors, nice stripes. (photo courtesy of MHS rewind on YouTube) The New Pal Dragons have been going with their long-time white/red/red combo with the shiny red dragon decals on their helmets. A good look with good stripes as well. This match-up may end up looking like an intrasquad scrimmage. (photo courtesy of The Daily Reporter) Black for black sake isn't one of my favorite things, but I especially dislike it when they pair it with another dark color like Westfield's green. Not enough contrast in my opinion. -

5A: Merrillville at Warsaw On the road, the Merrillville Pirates wear either purple helmets with white jerseys, and then either white or purple pants. Personally I'm a fan of the purple/white/purple look as it has great balance, but the all whites are pretty clean. The purple shoulder caps add a nice splash of color as well. (photo courtesy of NWI Times) On the other sideline, the boys of Bart Ball mostly roll out an all black home uni, but I think the Tigers look their best in orange pants. Nice shoulder stripes and black/orange has always been a hard combo to mess up. (photos courtesy of Warsaw Times-Union) Decatur Central at Bloomington South The Decatur Central Hawks have an especially clean looking all white road set with gold numbers and a subtle gold stripe down the leg. Their helmet decals are no original but they are still really cool. (photo courtesy of IndyStar) Bloomington South has a couple of combos they can reach for at home, but my personal favorite is the silver helmet, purple jersey, silver pants with purple stripes. They can also go silver lids with all purple uni. (photos courtesy of The Herald-Times) Lots of purple in 6A and 5A this year. -
6A: Crown Point at Westfield Crown Point wears a beautiful red helmet, white jersey with great shoulder stripes, and red pants matching white stripes down the leg. They also have the ability to go red/white/white. Love the classic feel of their uniforms. My only complaint is that the triple stripe on the helmet doesn't match the double stripe on the shoulders and pants, but its still a great uniform set. (Photo courtesy of South Bend Tribune) Westfield's gold helmets are some of the best in the state, and when it comes to home unis they have been wearing a couple different looks. They have gone gold/black/green a couple of times this year, but that's not really my favorite look for them. (photo courtesy of IndyStar) My favorite home look for the Rocks is their gold/green/white combo. (photo courtesy of Westfield Athletics) I hope the Rocks go with this combo to provide a full Christmas in November vibe to the game. Brownsburg at Center Grove The Bulldogs have two main road looks, either going with a clean all white look, or white helmet, white jersey, black pants. The white out look is pretty nice but lacking in any sort of stripes or pops of color. The white/white/black look is a bit unbalanced imo, and would probably look better with purple pants, so I'm hoping they go with the all white. (photos courtesy of Brownsburg Athletics) Center Grove has two main home sets. The classic white helmet, red jersey, white pants looks maybe like an unintentional throwback to me, especially considering the black drop shadow on the numbers that is totally a 90's thing. The other set they roll with is white/black/black which looks okay, it just doesn't scream Center Grove to me. (photos courtesy of Daily Journal)

Austin Colby to Western

Not a good thing for the Conference of Champions. I hope the new HC and staff can keep Kokomo rolling, because if the Kokomo program falls the NCC looks awful. There would be absolutely ZERO reason for Jeff to stick around. -
Semi State 3a Luers vs. Garrett
adambetz replied to MikeTyson15's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
50/50 for me. Garrett showed last week that they can hang tough and win the big ones in the playoffs, something I was worried about for the Railroaders. Luers reminds me of Dory from Finding Nemo, "Just keep winning, just keep winning, just keep winning, winning, winning." The Knights find a way to put more points on the board than the other team. They've faced defenses at or above Garrett's level. The match up that decides the game for me is Garrett's offensive line versus Luers' box defenders. Will the Knights be able to stay solid in their gaps (because we all know they have then speed and athleticism), or will the Railroaders be able to misdirection their way to Lucas Oil? Garrett in an all timer. And I have the exact same prediction as @MikeTyson15 Garrett 41, Luers 40 -

FIXED TITE -
I won't lie, I was being a bit facetious in the above post. I do think the Pirates are a much tougher team than Jeff was for Warsaw. In the same vein though, Mville is like a bigger, more physical version of Jeff who has been tested a bit better all year than Jeff was. Either Merrillville runs away with it, or the Tigers keep it close and punch their ticket to da Oil.

Adams Central (12-1) @ Andrean (9-4) Andrean with a much tougher schedule, although AC mostly handled business except against 3A regional champ Garrett. You'd think Andrean will come in with a size and speed advantage, but don’t count out AC's scheming. A squad that spent recent years in 3A against a squad that spent recent years in 1A. I think this will be fun. Linton-Stockton (11-2) @ Indianapolis Lutheran (12-1) Can Linton defend through the air? That's the key in this one. Lutheran can taste a 4-peat. Both squads played Monrovia and won. Lutheran had no trouble in two attempts and Linton had a bit of trouble but won 22-20 on week two.

I hope he does get more looks, get is immune to armtacklitus. You didn't have to do the extra money but I'm sure the Community Foundation of DeKalb County will be able to put it to good use. -
